Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains 15 minutes from downtown Ellijay, Twin Rivers is a very private 1100 square foot 2 bedroom 2 bathroom cabin enveloped by acres of densely wooded mountainous landscape within Ellijay's gated Coosawattee River Resort. It is constructed on a steep south-facing slope away from main roads and passing traffic and is the only property at the end of a winding gravel road. (Please note: the cabin does not have a game room or hot tub)
On the inside, you'll find a mix of rustic and luxury within the cabin's finishing and decor, evoking the feel of a western luxury lodge. Nearly every piece of furniture was constructed by local craftsmen residing in either Blue Ridge or Ellijay. You’ll find local art, wood sculptures, and original photographs placed about the cabin.
Central to the common area is the stacked stone double-sided fireplace that soars high into the timber frame cathedral ceilings, providing warmth and ambiance to both the living room and kitchen/dining areas. Colorful and contrasting knotty pine wood covers the floors and walls, setting the tone for this true-to-heart mountain retreat.
The kitchen/dining area features granite counter tops, dishwasher, ceramic cook top, oven, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, Keurig coffee maker, HD satellite DVR, 32 inch HD television w/ Apple TV, and a solid walnut dining table that can seat up to six people with two additional seats at the bar. A small study sits adjacent to the main entrance for those looking for a comfortable place to check email, telecommute, or just browse the web using the wireless high-speed internet. Crack the window and listen to the songs of the Cardinals and Wood Thrushes and watch the deer, turkey, and other visiting wildlife while you work.
As you enter the living room area, attention is drawn to the expansive glass covered southern wall facing out toward the towering oaks and pines. These massive trees and surrounding topography provide filtered late morning and early evening sun, helping you ease into the days and nights. Looking to relax indoors? Pick from our small library of Blu-Ray movies or Playstation 3 games and recline in front of the 46 inch HD television. Perhaps technology isn't your cup of tea? Grab a book from the study and relax peacefully in our comfy hickory wide arm rocking chair.
One of the more attractive features of Twin Rivers is the double master bedrooms, which are separated by the common area. In addition to the rustic and restful decor, both bedrooms feature 300+ count cotton sheets, hypoallergenic comforters, full baths, wood blinds/blackout curtains, 4-drawer chest, night stand, walk-in closets, deck access, ceiling fans, and tall timber truss ceilings. The first master has a queen sized log bed, 40 inch wall-mounted HD TV, HD satellite DVR, and a screened-in sitting area with a fireplace on the rear deck just outside the bedroom. The second master has a gorgeous extra long twin over queen walnut slab bunk bed. Both bedrooms are nearly identical in floor plan and size.
The large rear deck, which stands 20 feet over the steep downward sloping terrain below, has no other access than from within the cabin. So enjoy your morning coffee inside the screened-in living area or outside in the shadows of the foliage knowing you won't be interrupted by any 'large' wildlife! Out here, you'll find a gas grill with at least one back up tank, bird feeders, and a pair of single person hammocks suspending from the overhang outside the second master bedroom. After the sun goes down, grab a chair and kick back under the brilliant star-lit sky as you are nearly 50 miles from the big-city lights!
I relocated from the east coast of Florida to the north Georgia area in 1996 where I met my wife, Katie, shortly thereafter. We have a great appreciation for the outdoors and with the two of us being constantly on the go, we certainly understand the need to get away once in a while!
Brett Montgomery purchased this cabin in 2008
When I took my first steps into the cabin in October 2008, I immediately fell in love with the large, double-sided fireplace and the tall ceilings. I knew that I would own this cabin before I even made it through the kitchen. My hope is that guests of Twin Rivers will come again and again to find immense relaxation and connection with the natural surroundings.
The outdoor screened in fireplace and sitting area has been a favorite among family and friends. Guests can comfortably gather in front of the crackling fire without having to constantly swat at critters. This is my favorite place to enjoy my morning coffee and watch the sunrise peak through the trees. Many have also expressed great appreciation for just how quiet and peaceful Twin Rivers actually is!
One of our favorite things about this cabin was its open layout. The cabin was not only clean when we arrived, but was easy to continue to keep clean throughout our stay. The kitchen, sheets, bathroom, and floors were spectacularly clean! It came equipped with everything that we could have thought of needing throughout our stay. We enjoyed playing the games that the renter provides, and sitting on the screened-in porch drinking our morning coffee. The renter was so helpful and responded to every question that I had about our trip very quickly. They gave us fantastic winery and outdoor recreation recommendations. With this cabin located on a resort, we were never bored or out of things to do. Rather, we wished we had a few more nights to spend in this wonderfully relaxing cabin!
Great Cabin. Decorated perfectly. Very comfortable couch and beds. Resort has all that is needed for kids to have fun (pools, stocked pond and animal farm) My kids loved bottle- feeding the baby deer and riding horses.
The cabin was very comfortable and welcoming. We only stayed two nights and didn't spend much time at the cabin, but we really felt like we were coming home at the end of the day. I would highly recommend this cabin. The only disappointment was for our ten year old, who thought after looking at the pictures that he would have access to both decks in the back. He was disappointed when we discovered that bottom floor access was not allowed for the guests. I would still stay at this cabin in the future though. It is very well kept.
We enjoyed our stay. The home is very nice and well furnished. It is secluded and very quiet.
This is a fantastic home. We walked in after a long drive to beautiful soft music playing and a gorgeous comfy home. The whole experience was wonderful. The owner and host Brett is wonderful and caring. You will not be disappointed if you choose to stay in his home.
This cabin is absolutely beautifully decorated and extremely clean! It was just perfect for my family of 4. Brett was so easy to work with and responded to any question that I had right away. I would recommend this cabin to anyone looking to get away and have a peaceful vacation.
You'll find apple orchards, wineries, miles of single-track mountain biking trails, fly fishing, tubing, hiking and many other activities just a short drive away.
