About Diane Haliski

Being a sixth generation native to Niagara-on-the-Lake, & having grown up here, I have experienced the vast changes from a sleepy hollow to a thriving tourist town. One aspect that remains to this day within our village, is the historic beauty... accompanied by the breath-taking geographic location, and the warm, friendly sense of community.

Diane Haliski purchased this cottage in 2000

Why Diane Haliski chose Niagara-on-the-Lake

Situated on one of the prettiest streets in one of the "Prettiest Towns in Canada", I instantly fell in love with this enchanting cottage.....the dark green woods shading it & the sweet smell of cedar upon entering the front porch. A feeling of peace & tranquility swept over me & I knew I was home.

What makes this cottage unique

The minute walk to the ever changing lake & breath-taking sunsets make the Flying Cloud unique in every season !

Chautauqua was always, & remains to be the "magical" cottage area of town. At the turn of the century it housed the Chautauqua Ampitheatre in the centre hub of it's spoked street design....providing live theatre & entertainment to cottagers, town folk, & tourists throughout the summers.

Loved staying at the Flying Cloud- We called it our Blue Heaven

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at the flying cloud from May 14th through the 19th. When we walked into the beautiful cottage we were welcomed with a personal message welcoming us. Fresh flowers and chilled wine awaited us on our arrival. I loved the backyard and would sit out in the early dusk to watch the wildlife and saw my first black squirrel. The sunsets over the lake were amazing and the town was charming with lined street of tulips and lots of great food and shopping. This is wine country with over 100 wineries to choose from and only a short drive to see the falls and other great attractions. The best part of our days was returning to the cottage to relax with a fireplace to take the early morning and evening chills away. We could not of asked for a better host than Diane. She was always available for any questions or suggestions and each day made me smile when I would receive a text from her wishing us a great day.

A repeat trip ... even better than the last!

  • 5 of 5

Once again ... amazing! Thank you Diane! We stayed at the Flying Cloud a few years ago and returned this April to celebrate our 30th anniversary. What a great place to celebrate romance! This place just oozes warmth, charm and relaxation ... and all the extra touches Diane did for our anniversary were greatly appreciated. Everything in this cottage feels special and so very welcoming ... as well as being outfitted with anything possible you may need to feel at home and enjoy your stay. We look forward to another repeat visit ... and glass of wine on the porch! Thank you so very much Diane! Mike and Wendy

Lovely Stay

  • 5 of 5

This charming cottage was the perfect place to stay for my husband and me. It was so inviting and cozy. It is tastefully decorated and when we walked in the door we felt immediately at home. The weather during April was rainy and chilly. The two fireplaces felt so good in the early morning and in the evening. Our hostess, Diane, was right on with her dining suggestions and when we did choose to eat in, the kitchen was a delightful place in which to prepare those meals. We liked the edge of town location as well. A few houses away from Lake Ontario, we could enjoy lakeside walks and walking into town was not too much for us al all.

Despite the weather, we enjoyed a Bernard Shaw performance, Niagara Falls, several wineries and restaurants, and I loved a nearby yoga studio.

Without a doubt we will return and I know we will stay at the Flying Cloud again. Hopefully we will have more sun so we can ride those bicycles in the cottage shed!

Perfectly Lovely

  • 5 of 5

The Flying Cloud was a perfectly lovely place to relax, rejuvenate and restore our equilibrium. We found the comfortable bed and linens, beautifully appointed bathroom, well-stocked kitchen, selection of sitting and dining areas (inside and out) and overall ambience of the cottage made it easy to immediately feel at home and simply enjoy our stay. The cottage is located in a wonderful location close to the lake and a 20 minute stroll to the centre of town. So nice to see the first signs of Spring as we walked and bicycled the neighbourhood. Diane is very familiar with the area and was quick to respond to any of our enquiries. We would definitely recommend the cottage to others and hope to return for another stay ourselves!!

For sports enthusiasts, rent a bicycle from Zoom and ride the bike trails along the Niagara River. North America's oldest golf course is around the corner . It's a public course and the clubhouse patio has the best view in town. Play tennis at the local courts, rent a paddle board or kayak in Lake Ontario.

There are the annual church/farm festivals: Strawberry Festival at St. Andrews church on the third Saturday in June, the Cherry Festival at St. Mark’s church on the first Saturday in July and the Peach Festival on the second weekend in August. The locals gather at the extremely popular Wednesday night Supper Market. This community event of food trucks and local restaurants serving food, wine, and beer has quickly became a weekly social gathering place for locals and visitors. Pull up a colourful picnic table, bring your own chairs or blanket, listen to a band and watch the kids dance.
