About Azaima Anderson

I grew up in Chicago, went to school on the East Coast, and did corporate work in big cities until I discovered the country. Moved to Maine and changed my focus to music and healing work.

I'm interested in helping people get out of their own way so they can make the difference they want to see in themselves and the world.

I've released four CDs. Three of them have original songs. My songwriting is lyric-driven, and the music serves the lyric rather than being restricted to a particular style. Some are folk, others pop, jazz, rock and blues.

Most recently, I've composed a CD of meditative prosperity chants in the Sufi tradition.

My healing work includes astrology, yoga, shamanic work, and a technique I created called Heart Lightning, which quickly removes mental and emotional blocks in as little as one session.

I'm an interfaith minister, and have married people on this property.

I live with a couple of dogs who entertain me so completely that I don't watch TV. (But guest rooms have a TV).

Azaima Anderson purchased this apartment in 2006

Why Azaima Anderson chose New Mexico

Although I loved the beauty and the people of Maine, the climate was nasty. Anyone who can survive winter there deserves a medal. I moved here for the temperate weather and discovered I'd found my tribe. The artists and healers here are creative and nurturing. Once I moved here, I fell in love with the land, the cactus flowers, the rolling hills, and the sun.

The neighbors have ponies and peacocks who have visited occasionally. Apaches used to live on this land, and I have found some of their trading stones on the ground.

I love the proximity to town and country, and the great views.

What makes this apartment unique

The man who sold us our house was a naturalist. He took us on a walk and pointed out wildlife footprints along the trails. There are mountain views from every window.

You can hike straight out of the house for hours and never see a soul. But the neighbors are friendly if you do happen to run into them.

The long driveway goes uphill, so you have great views by the time you get to the house.

The flag-lined front porch is a great place to hang out, have a meal and enjoy nature.

Wonderful place to stay

  • 5 of 5

This rental was absolutely wonderful. I completely enjoyed the location and property. The owner is a kind and thoughtful person. We saw many types of hummingbirds and deer on the property during our entire stay. One afternoon, we enjoyed a hike leading through the fruit trees up to the top of the surrounding mountains. I recommend this rental to anyone wanting to enjoy the beauty of Silver City and the nearby forest.

Anniversary Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Peaceful, secluded place, felt safe, no need to lock doors. Very nice, clean, open, sunny area.

Enjoyed the hot tub and sunny breakfast room. Beautifully tiled and decorated

bathroom. Nice porch with double swing and rocking chair, with beautiful landscaping. Host was very welcoming and hospitable.

Good base for day trips to the Catwalk near Glenwood, Cliff Dwellings, or enjoying the

local museums, downtown plaza, shops, etc. Nice town, enjoyed our stay!!

Lovely little escape!

  • 5 of 5

Gorgeous setting, just outside of artsy-funky Silver City & Gila Mts, with awesome hiking opportunities. The Gila Cliff Dwellings, just 44 miles away, and you drive slowly through windy roads with "Gunsmoke"-y little town Pinos Altos along the way - also worth a stop. Friendly people & everything we needed in this casita-like space. Would stay here again any time we can escape to this little area of the world!

Serene and secluded

  • 5 of 5

Azaima and Brandon did everything to make us feel comfortable and at home. Zoli and Cassie pitched in to welcome and entertain us. The home is beautiful and clean. We enjoyed our stay there so much, we asked if we could stay another day at the last minute. Azaima was able to accommodate us and we thoroughly enjoyed the extra day and our entire visit.

Peace and quiet with nice touches

  • 5 of 5

Property was very well maintained and Azaima was very considerate and helpful with local information. I don't like staying in town so this was a perfect choice for us. The tasty drink and truffles were a nice touch and the hot tub was awesome.

The Gila cliff dwellings are the main attraction, a spectacular drive away. On the same drive, you can check out the Gila hot springs and the Gila River that still runs wild here, despite efforts to divert it. The City of Rocks state park has some beautiful and unique formations. The Silver City museum will give you an idea of the town's history, in which Billy the Kid figures prominently.
