Sooke is a small town nestled among soaring cedars around Sooke bay, a very large protected inlet of the Juan de Fuca Strait It is only 1 hour from Victoria, but feels like you really are really on the west coast with big waves, lots of space, beautiful uncrowded beaches.
We are the gateway to world class surfing and hiking and home to a celebrated local arts scene. You can hear nature here! Located just 40 km from Victoria, you can take a city of Victoria bus for only $2.25 and access the town that is the gateway to the rugged and wild west coast of Vancouver Island. We have surfing like that of Tofino and trails much like the west coast trail and we will save you a of day travel! We have a large harbor, crystal clear potholes to swim in, and we are 20 km to the big waves. The Galloping Goose is an ideal trail for biking or running. We are a jumping off point for the west coast road. Stop at Point no Point, Gordon’s Beach, French Beach, and the Mystic Beach walk.
Our guest house is a relaxed atmosphere where you are free to experience the wonders of BCs west coast.
I graduated in sociology and human development. I did research on the healing aspects of nature.
todd ogryzlo purchased this house in 2008
This property has all the services of a big city but also is very quiet. We are steps to the beach
Quiet, nature, restaurants, and the ocean. You can walk 10 minutes and be at the beach while eating wild blackberries! Then, drive along the ocean road to the many wild beaches just west of Sooke. Swimming: amazing Sooke potholes and Kemp Lake. Walking: Ella beach, French beach, and the awe inspiring mystic beach, Prestige hotel wharf area, and the Whiffin spit, all will leave you feeling alive! Surfing: Jordan river in the spring and the occasional small wave at China beach in summer.
House has an amazing back yard where you will feel like you are in the forest, a great place to read.
The property is littered with little bits of plastic and garbage. The kitchen, refrigerator and bathroom were not up to our standard of clean at all, although the homeowner told me he scrubbed for days. There was alot of traffic on the road and a dog got hit when we were there! The person who hit the dog just left. We ended up leaving two days early because we were not comfortable and when I asked for a bit of a refund, explained our discontent and even complimented a few things about the property, he only replied that i was welcome to my opinion. No refund and a very poor place to stay. :(
We booked without seeing the property. This place is a dump. Student rental, Keg party chic with the usual garbage sofa in front.
The kitchen out of the fifties with as much grime. Newer fridge though. Internet is fast when it works. An old car in the back yard and curb site picked up furniture in the yard and in the house (bricks under bed frame). In the front yard weeds and rotting tree stumps. This property can not be recommended.
It's beyond me how the owner manages to get no reviews in VBRO.
Small town with great restaurants, minutes from the beach and wharfs. Great for sea kayaking, whale watching, beach combing.
