You will find a special spot at the wonderful and beautiful spring fed Homosassa River, with no hard to navigate canals or bridges to conquer, nor spending an hour just getting close to the Gulf in heavy traffic and people. Our property is located at the Homosassa River, just a 25-minute navagation to the Gulf of Mexico, passing islands and beautiful scenery along the way. Homosassa, Citrus County, Florida, is known as the Florida Nature Coast and easily accessible from Tampa and Orlando airports, a short hour or so away. The Gulf produces delicious fish catches and clear calm waters. Conveniently park your own boat just steps away from your door. Our dock is free with your stay. Enjoy your own grill for family cookouts, or just relax on the screened wrap around porch overlooking the River where Dolphins, Manatees, Eagles, Cranes, and more wink at you. Our 2-Bedrooms with 2-Private Bathrooms are just a small perk in this approximate 1,100 square foot home. We offer a queen sleeper sofa in the living area. The home sleeps six comfortably. Upgraded furniture and furnishings, a fully equipped kitchen and 116 inches of new flat screen televisions for your vacation river enjoyment. Our property is manicured and clean and disinfected. Our location is perfect for walkers, just stroll on our Natures Trail path along Otter Creek and see the early arriving shrimp boats. Bicycles are welcome in the neighborhood on our low traveled streets. Visit the ruins of the Old Civil War Era, the Yulee Plantation Sugar Mill. Pick up tonight's dinner straight out of the saw grass along the flats of the Gulf. Scallop season is a busy time on the Homosassa River. Folks visit from all over the world to Scallop. A virtual smorgasbord of small town restaurants serving Florida seafood and offering live bands. Do as much as you want! No pressures here! About Paula Black, Manager

We purchased our nine acres bordering Otter Creek and fronting on the Homosassa River when it was overgrown and looked nothing like it does today. With love and time, we developed Sunset Point and Sunset Path Vacation Rental Homes, along with our main home. We are friendly and support the Texas A & M University in College Station Texas football program and alumni program, where I was a 1953 graduate.

Paula Black, Manager purchased this house in 1991

Why Paula Black, Manager chose Florida Central Gulf Coast

We purchased our nine acres because we were looking for a vacation spot. It was a simple choice. With businesses and family in Tampa Florida it seemed ridiculous to buy a vacation home out of state. Why travel 8-hours to your second home, when in a short hour or so we could be on the River. This place is so beautiful and with a little imagination you can close your eyes and imagine being anywhere in the world. The Sunsets are breathtaking and there's we would have gone a long way to find a place as special as the Homosassa River.

What makes this house unique

You will fall in love with Sunset Path. Besides the home is like new inside, we have upscale furniture and furnishings, from most everywhere in the home you can see the River. You can watch the rare birds and may see some wildlife. The Dolphins romp in the water at your back door. Fish jump in front of you. The air is clean, the water is spring fed and beautiful. You won't hear a horn blow here. Few traffic lights exist. We are a fishing village with great people, yet close to all attractions and away from the traffic, congestion and people touring those attractions. Peace and Tranquility will hold you in their arms. You will go home a renewed person.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We are visiting our family from out of State. This time, we just wanted our own private place. What a grand decision that was. Sunset Path was everything we needed. Quiet, peaceful, tranquil and beautiful. Don't be fooled about it's location. The views of the River are awesome from the home and screen porch. They provided a newer gas grill. We visited our family, then brought them over for cookouts. We were more than pleased and recommend this clean and private home to everyone.

a relaxing place to stay

  • 4 of 5

The home was very clean and comfortable. The owners are working to update each of their properties. We were comfortable and enjoyed our stay. We would definitely return.

Unfortunate Billing Issue

  • 1 of 5

The property and location were both wonderful, and we had a fantastic stay. Unfortunately, we had an issue with billing that we have been unable to rectify with the Owner.

We were billed the security deposit twice; only one of which was refunded. When we contacted the Owner, she replied that we were only billed the deposit once. In response, we e-mailed the Owner copies of our credit card statement and a screen shot of the HomeAway balance, both showing that we had been charged two security deposits. The Owner was e-mail several times with no response. We also tried to contact the Owner through the messaging on this site and only received one reply that had no text or information in it; just symbols that didn't seem to have any meaning. We have complained to HomeAway and they have indicated that they have attempted to contact the Owner with no response. They have directed us to write a review and submit a formal complaint through HomeAway. We are simply looking for either a reasonable explanation as to why our credit card was charged twice, and if appropriate, to receive a refund for the second charge. The Owner seems unwilling to even have the courtesy to reply to us.

In summary, this is a wonderful property in a fantastic location, but you run the risk of being overcharged by the Owner.

Owner's Response: This matter is corrected and was not necessarily our fault. Our system showed one security deposit paid. We contacted HA and was told that was correct. During the times that this guest was trying to contact us, my husband had an amputation and was very ill. We appreciate these guests and sincerely apologize for any inconveniences to them. Management.

Perfect slice of Florida

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at Sunset Path #5 during our 4 day stay in Homosassa in January. The property is as pictured online and was absolutely perfect for our stay. The unit was spotless and had all of the supplies we needed so we didn't have to make a trip to the store to pick up dish soap, toilet paper, laundry detergent or the like. The bed was heavenly, I don't know what kind of mattress they have, but my back sure did like it. The furnishings were perfect for a Florida home. I fabric on the sofa was so soft to the touch, slightly faded from the warm Florida sun. The entire side of the family room is windows and sliding doors giving you a fantastic view of the river. We always had beautiful birds to watch. Sitting outside was a joy in the screened in porch which goes across the full length of the unit. We were able to put our kayaks in right beside the house and paddle down to the spring where the Manatees congregate with their calfs this time of year. There are several places to eat right around the corner if you don't feel like making dinner yourself. Just a great place to get away.

First Timer at this location

  • 5 of 5

My family and I really enjoyed our stay in Homosassa this past weekend. Place was in good location on the main river and we enjoyed not being in a main traffic area and having that barrage of people coming back and forth. Nice and relaxing which is what we needed.

well maintained with great amenities.

  • 4 of 5

Paula is a gracious hostess. Ample parking, nice covered areas for rain shelter, good free dock nearby for your boat ( 75 yards), very close to restaurants and marina's on the river. 45 minute ride out to the bay for scalloping.

I would recommend this place to a family with up to 6 people.
