Nice House/ No AC

  • 2 of 5

I hesitate writing a review but after not receiving any acknowledgement from the owner, I'm going to. We also have a VRBO home in Highlands & were there to celebrate my Mom's 90th birthday. We needed more room for all the family that came in for this event. We loved the screen porch! It is by far the best room in the house! Our major problem was the air conditioner. This past week has been the hottest & most humid of the summer. We turned it down some when we first got in but it never adjusted. Later we checked the air filter & it was extremely dirty. Even taking it out to allow air flow didn't help. Sat. morning we call Larry. My brother-in-law did the things he suggested but never offered to come check on the ac unit himself. He said he "didn't think he could get anyone to come out on Sat." Never said he would try to get someone to come out. We called him back after lunch & told him nothing worked. Again, never offered to come check it himself. Inside temperature was really high especially in the kitchen & the upstairs bedrooms almost unbearable to sleep in.

Secondly - towels & washcloths - There weren't enough washcloths for all 8 adults & 4 kids to have even one each. We checked the downstairs linen closet & washcloths were an issue.

Third - only 5 coffee cups in kitchen

Forth - found rat droppings in the first drawer to the right of the stove.

Again, we enjoyed our stay & the house location is nice & close to town. I thought I would share this with you.

Amazing porch

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved this home. This was a getaway for 3 couples and we spent the entire time on the screened in porch with a fire in the fireplace. Easy drive to highlands/hiking. The gas range is awesome. Definitely hoping to return!

Nice secluded cabin yet close to Highland if you need to get to town.

  • 5 of 5

nice cabin, a few little quirks with and could have been a little cleaner but all in all nice place to stay. Secluded and yet still close to Highland. I would defiantly stay there again. Hanging out on the deck with Fireplace was the best...

Cozy and secluded

  • 4 of 5

Enjoyed our stay. Have a few things I thought the owner might want to know about. These are not complaints but an FYI. There are large logs that would have to be split. When trying to split one, the mallet came off the handle. The ping pong table is a good one, but no balls, and neither TV was working. Otherwise we had a great weekend!! Thanks for sharing your home.

Cozy Cabin, Perfect for Group of Friends

  • 5 of 5

Our group loved this property. The multi-levels allowed us to be close to our friends and still maintain some sense of privacy. It was close to town, very secluded and the porch was amazing! We spent more time out on the screened in porch than inside. If you a looking for a fun mountain getaway with easy access to Highlands and rafting guide companies, I highly recommend this cabin. Make sure to plan ahead to get into town for groceries or restaurants before too late, as a lot of things seem to close up early between 7-9p. The grocery store in town closed before we could get there but were able to get essentials at The Market and their "take and bake" pizza was great!
