THIS CABIN IS A GREAT SECLUDED RELAXING GET-A-WAY!!!!
****Pond water level varies depending on the time of year and the amount of rainfall****
My husband and I built this cabin for our family to have a place to relax and get away from it all. We decided to start renting it to let others share in the same experience. My husband says we built this cabin like the Johnny Cash song 'One Piece At A Time'. It took several years to complete the project but we finally did and it was well worth it. I know your family will enjoy it as much as ours.
We love to go and get away from it all. This cabin is a great place for you to reconnect with your family. The deck is a great place to have converstions, enjoy the scenery, and admire the water and sometimes hear a fish splash. In the winter you can enjoy the large fireplace in the cabin or build your own fire in the ourdoor firepit. We love to build a fire outdoors and all sit around sharing stories and roasting marshmallows. We also love to play cards so there has been alot of card games played there already. It's a great place to bring your family to enjoy being together and letting them discover the simple and relaxing country life.
Everytime we visit the cabin one of our favorite things to do is visit Glover River. It is about 2 miles from the cabin. It is the last free flowing river in Oklahoma and was voted one of the top 10 most beautiful places to visit in Oklahoma. My kids and now my grandson loves to throw rocks in the river. It is a great place to have a picnic, also just sitting and listening to the water flowing down the river is very relaxing. It is definitely worth a trip while you are visiting.
Our favorite moments were seeing the wildlife, watching the sunrise and sunset, taking a hike by the river, playing board games and the fireplace. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin with my family. We hope to return again some day soon.
The cabin was great. Very clean and well stocked with pots, pans and utensils. The pond was full of small bass, easy to catch on minnows. Make sure you bring the food and drinks you need because it's a long way to town. The owner was great. We got our $1,500 damage deposit back right away. Can't go wrong with the Lazy J.
We stayed 5 nights with 2 adults and 2 teenagers....we all loved this property. The cabin has everything you will need minus groceries and is more impressive in person than the photos show. We spent all our time on the back deck or fishing off the pier and had such a great time. Unfortunately a rain soaked week kept us from walking around the property but the gravel path to the fishing deck from the cabin was always dry and it was an easy walk to the outside fire pit too and we didn't have to get muddy going back and forth from there either. Beds and furniture were very comfortable. If we vacation near Broken Bow again this will be our pick again for a cabin.
Was the perfect family get away. We have stayed in a few other cabins and loved how this one had its own personal space. My family that has never been to broken bow enjoyed their selves. We will be returning
My husband and I along with our 3 children (ages 5, 3, & 1) spent 3 nights here in July along with 2 other couples who also each have a 1 yr old. We LOVED this place. The cabin is so clean and neatly decorated. The furniture is very comfy, the kitchen is well-stocked, and we enjoyed some great meals around the huge dining table. We spent so much time on the large back porch. My children loved fishing in the pond. The owners were wonderful to communicate with us letting us know that the pond was low due to lack of rain, but we still enjoyed it very much and caught (and released) lots of fish. They also provided excellent directions to the cabin as navigation systems aren't able to locate it. The cabin is not too far from the beautiful lake, maybe 30 minutes. We rented a boat from Beavers Bend Marina one morning. They were great! We also enjoyed the fire pit, horseshoes, and counting bunnies (there are lots!).
We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, secluded place to stay. Our group did notice a few things that might make the stay even better...there are no towel racks or hooks for towels. We all agreed that would be helpful. Also, bowls with lids for storage of leftovers would be helpful. It might also be helpful for future guests to know that the washer/dryer is located in a bedroom. We packed very lightly, but had trouble finding a good time to wash since we were traveling with babies who napped unpredictably and felt like we were invading our friends' space a little bit. That doesn't change how great this place is. It's just good to know.
You won't regret staying here!
I'm writing this review as I sit on the spacious back deck of the Lazy J Hideaway. I drove up from Texas with my family and my In-Laws flew in from Florida for the 4th of July weekend. This is truly one of the best kept secrets in the Broken Bow area. Having stayed here for 6-days I can honestly say I didn't know I could feel so relaxed. We were surrounded by all the beauty that only nature provides. With the added bonus of no traffic noise, no neighbors, and no distractions for that matter. I think this is the closest my family has ever felt to one another. Probably due in part to us being completely alone.
Without a doubt Shari the owner will go above and beyond to ensure your stay goes well. The cabin is far more spacious than the pictures provide. The beds are just amazing... as my wife suffers back problems and loved them. And the area outside is fantastic for large groups.
The only very minor negative we found was that the pond was low (like 4-5 feet below what the pictures show online). I only write this because there is a positive to this. The pond level can't be helped... It's summer and there hasn't been any rain for awhile. But don't let this discourage you like I initially was when I pulled up to the cabin. Why? Because we still caught over 100 fish in the 6-days we were here. We just used the old worm, sinker, bobber rig. Threw it in by the marsh and wham! Fish hit it within 15-20 seconds. We caught so many small mouth bass, crappie, blue gill and trout that we felt like professional fisherman (:
In the end we loved this place and have already talked about coming back to the area during the spring or fall. If this place is available to rent. I suggest you book it fast. Like I'm serious. Don't keep looking... BOOK IT NOW! It's totally worth it! Thanks again Shari!!!
The cabin is Beautiful. The pictures don't do it justice. The owners are very generous with all the "extras" like towels. paper towel and toilet tissue , even a crock pot!!, which doesn't sound like a big deal, but if you have stayed in other VRBO's you get where I'm coming from. The back covered patio Deck is Awesome and that Gas Grill!! We used it every night we were there. Special place for bonfire(smores anyone?) was a nice touch. and the horseshoe pit added an extra fun thing to do, in addition to the board games the offer for inside play.. If you want a Nice, Quiet, Secluded Getaway this is your kinda place. If you want to throw some fun outside activities in, as I understand it, they are close. We just stayed at the cabin and relaxed the entire time..very peaceful.
