Well maintained home with incredible views overlooking the Bay of Fundy. The house is a five minute walk to Digby Harbour, shops, bars and restaurants; and a ten minute walk to the Digby Pines Golf Course. Its a great location in all respects! The rooms are expansive and comfortably furnished. A large veranda surrounds the house with a brand new large decked area to the rear, a real sun trap, and a large back yard, the perfect place for barbeques or cocktails. The immediate neighbourhood is quiet and friendly.
The small fishing community of Digby, Nova Scotia is located at the western end of the Annapolis Valley and is blessed with the most temperate climate in the province. It is the ideal place for a family holiday, a romantic vacation or for those interested in motorcycles, it is the home of the Wharf Rat Rally in September. Locally available lobster and world famous scallops can be obtained at the wharf right off the boats and whale watching excursions are available as well.
The house and large very private garden have recently been upgraded and are ready to be enjoyed. Two fully modern bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen compliment the rest of the house which is furnished in mostly period décor with a Scottish touch. The three large bedrooms upstairs have three new double/queen beds and mattresses and a new double futon. A large capacity clothes washer and dryer are in the back porch, kitchen is fully equipped including dishwasher and there is a wall mounted netflix enabled flat screen tv in the lounge with Gbox and superfast unlimited wifi throughout the house, veranda and back yard deck.
We live in Fife in Scotland most of the year and stay in Digby in the Spring and Fall usually for 8-10 weeks each time. I am originally from N.S. but have been in Scotland since 2005, Louise is a true Scot! We plan to rent the house seasonally for 2-3 more years till Louise retires.
Don Fisher purchased this house in 2012
We found this property by fluke and totally fell in love with it, with the Digby community and the local neighbourhood. We have done a lot of renovating and redecorating to the house, maintaining its unique character and adding modernisations as well as a distinct Scottish flare.
The house itself, the location, the back garden all lend themselves to a relaxing holiday experience in Summer.
“Charming house with room for all”
5 of 5 starsReviewed September 15, 2014
We stayed here for a few days in the first week of September and loved the house. The rooms are spacious and the kitchen well equipped. The back garden and deck are nice for relaxing and it is minutes from downtown Digby and some great restaurants. My husband, myself, our son and his wife all had plenty of room to spread out and the high speed internet was better than at our house! Would highly recommend this house to anyone wanting to visit Digby and surrounding areas,. Super clean, super comfortable, thank you Don and Louise for sharing you home with us. We had a blast!
For 4 girls having fun in Nova Scotia we couldn't have selected a better place for our home base on the Bay of Fundy!! We were only a short drive to our whale watching tour on Brier Island, our day trip to Annapolis Royal and Digby had terrific restaurants and great shopping. The house had many treasures the owners trusted us with that added so much charm and coziness. Everyone had their own comfy beds and the two full bathrooms were a real bonus to get ready to start our days. We were all so happy we selecting the Fisher House for our home base on the Bay.
This house has everything you need for your stay. We were there August 20-27, 2016. Great view of the bay from the middle bedroom (2nd floor). Wonderful deck on back where we spent late afternoons and early evenings. The house is very comfortable and within walking distance of everything. Also the home was very clean. Would definitely recommend it to others. We enjoyed our stay and if ever back in the area would book again. M.Berry
The home is very well suited for couples, families, people travelling with their dog (we stayed there with our 194 pound English Mastiff). There is off-street parking, you are easy walking distance to a large number of restaurants and the Digby waterfront and easy driving distance to others. You are about one hour from the ferry to Balanced Rock, maybe another 15-20 minutes to the ferry to Brier's Island. It is an easy drive to Annapolis Royal. The ferry from Digby to St. John's is less than 10 minutes away, Lunenburg is an easy drive for a day trip as are numerous other places well worth seeing. The house was well-stocked with whatever you would need to prepare your own meals, there is a washer and dryer in a separate utility room, and it would be difficult to complain about the home.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Fisher House. The house is large and very comfortable. Lots of cozy places to settle down into after a full day. It is in a great location - only a short walk to the waterfront, several restaurants, and a market that sells fresh fish and scallops. You can see the bay from one of the bedroom windows. In addition, the house is an easy day trip to whale watching in Tiverton (we saw several humpbacks and a fin whale), and canoeing and hiking in Kejimkujik National Park. The kitchen has everything you need, and the beds are comfortable. The back porch has a nice table where you can eat and enjoy the owner’s beautiful gardens. Our kids appreciated the very good internet connection throughout the house. We would definitely stay there again.
We came to Digby for a week's holiday before dropping our daughter off at University in Halifax and the Fisher House seemed to be just what we needed. It turned out to be. A wonderful choice, more than meeting our needs and expectations.
The house itself was easy to find with clear directions provided and distinctive Scottish flags fluttering outside to greet you (not everything was perfect!) and is situated a short walk into Digby town where there is a decent variety of restaurants. If you prefer to eat in, the catering facilities are ideal and the supermarket is only a couple of minutes drive away. There is also a barbecue area with everything provided where you get visited by the local humming birds as the sun goes down.
Digby is a splendid base as there is much to do within a relatively short drive, most notably the unmissable whale watching in the Bay of Fundy although if you are there for the Digby County Show, as we were, do not expect anything like you may get back in England!
This house provided us with everything we could possibly have wanted for our stay even if it meant getting up early on our final day to get the jigsaw finished! We highly recommend Digby to anyone considering a holiday in this part of the world and the Fisher House as an excellent place to stay in Digby.
Two couples shared this charming home in Digby, NS and were totally satisfied with all aspects of the home and its surroundings. The home was spacious, clean and comfortable, and well equipped for travels intent on self catering.
Our only regret was having to leave after five fun-filled days along the Bay of Fundy.
Whale watching trips abound. Local seafood establishments specialise in lobster and scallops for which Digby is famous. If you choose to eat in local seafood is plentiful and inexpensive!
