Lovely Property and Experience

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for a week in April 2017 and were very pleased with our choice. We'd never been to Eleuthera before, so we did a lot of research on all the rental homes to choose from and after reading all the other positive reviews we chose this one.

The home itself is in great shape and the furniture, decor, etc. felt very clean and inviting. We enjoyed sitting on the back steps that lead into the Caribbean every morning while we drank our coffee, as well as exploring the garden in the side yard to see what was in season and growing there. The location felt very private even though you just drive down the long, tree-lined driveway and are suddenly in the bustle of Governor's Harbor (literally minutes from the grocery store, gas station, conch salad street vendor, various restaurants, coffee cafe, and amazing water views). We rented a car and explored all over the island, as far north as the Pink Sands Beach on Harbor Island (via a quick ferry ride) and as far south as Lighthouse Beach and this home is very centrally located as far as these type of excursions go.

The master bathroom was excellent, with a ton of counter top space and a shower that even beat ours at home! We never ran out of hot water and the water pressure was great. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen had all the amenities you'll need (just be sure to bring or buy your own spices, sugar, basic staples you'll use for cooking).

We felt very welcomed and well prepared by Randy (the owner) before we arrived, with both a phone call and follow up email to cover the basics of our stay as well as to answer any questions we had. George (the caretaker) did a great job of welcoming us as well, showing us the ropes of the house upon arrival and offering to assist us at any time during our stay.

We would definitely stay here again and would recommend this home to anyone looking for a place to stay!

Beautiful private place and ideal location!

  • 5 of 5

This was our 5th visit to Eleuthera and I think the location of Sea le Vie is perfect! You can walk into town and it is central on the island to go north or south. The house is very nice and comfortable. The views are amazing from the house. Very close to the water. They truly have thought of everything! Eleuthera can be a bit rustic but this house is not! All the comforts of home. The wifi worked great and the Directv was nice too in the evenings. George the caretaker was also warm and friendly and very helpful! There were two couples on this trip and the house was perfect. It is just outside of town but completely private. We didn't see one other person the whole time we were there. We snorkeled right there too and saw beautiful coral and a stingray. I would definitely recommend this house. We are already planning a return visit.

Sophisticated perfection

  • 5 of 5

Ah, Sea La Vie: We have rented many a house in the Bahamas and none have come close to Sea La Vie. As a matter of fact we are still here, I just couldn't wait to write the review. The moment we entered we new we had hit the jackpot, finally. The furnishings are comfortable and new. The kitchen is lovely and very well stocked with sharp knives, a rarity, and plenty of high quality pots and pans, as well as silverware, glasses and place settings. The beds are huge, new and comfortable. The bathrooms are large with great shower heads and lots of hot water, as well as plenty of pressure. We felt no need to leave the quiet sanctity of the back deck and the surprisingly good snorkeling right down the stairs. The weather did not favor us, but it was not a problem. We had great TV and internet to entertain us in the rain and wind, not to mention the views. Having both quiet AC and heat was also much appreciated. The owners checked on us to make sure al was well and the caretaker was a delight!

There are many good places to eat nearby in the village and wonderful beaches in both directions. My husband and I highly recommend Sea La Vie

Vacation to remember!

  • 5 of 5

The listing of the property doesn't do it justice. From the time we arrived, my wife and I were amazed at the very spaciousness, quality, comfort, and luxuriousness of the vacation home. The property caretaker met us in the small town (they were all small towns/settlements on Eleuthera) of Governor's Harbour, which was not far from the property, and showed us around when we arrived. He was very friendly and easy to talk to, and knew everything about the vacation home, since he helped build it. The location was secluded and the views were spectacular. We were able to snorkel just off the water's edge from the convenient steps that led straight into the water. The furnishings were modern and all in great condition, the beds were super comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare wonderful meals. The central location of the home was perfect and made it easy to explore both ends of the island and everywhere in between.

There was something going on every night of the week, if we wanted something to do, that was easy to find after a little driving to one of the nearby restaurants.

We enjoyed dinner at Tippey's beachside restaurant that served the best lobster, Pascal's poolside bar which provided drinks and a refreshing dip while taking a break from driving up the beach road that hugged the coast for miles that went through sections of dense overgrowth, then opened up to beautiful beaches that were everywhere. Monday night was pizza night at The Rainbow Inn (reservations are recommended), which provided yet another beautiful sunset overlooking the Caribbean side of the island.

I would recommend Eleuthera for someone looking for a low key, laid back vacation away from the crowds, and would also recommend Sea La Vie for one of the nicest and well furnished places we've stayed.

Amazing Sunsets!

  • 5 of 5

We rented Sea La Vie for the first two weeks of March and had an outstanding vacation! The property is located 1.5 miles outside the center of Governor’s Harbor so it was extremely convenient to grocery, hardware stores, banks, restaurants and the beaches (French Leave and Tippy’s). The house is off of Queen’s highway down a long drive so it was very private and directly on the Caribbean shore. The house was set back about 100 feet from the shoreline with a walkway over the coral formation and stairs directly into the ocean. It was possible at mid tide to push off from the bottom stair into the ocean and to enjoy some really outstanding snorkeling. The coral formations along the shoreline supported a substantial population of tropical fish and we really enjoyed the water quality.

Randy and Judy were very easy to work with, answered all our questions before we arrived and even followed up with a call during our stay to ensure that we were enjoying the house . They coordinated our meeting with George the caretaker who met us in town, led us to the house and was a great resource during our stay.

The house itself is a couple of years old and very well maintained. The landscaping is maturing nicely and they have established a small garden/orchard with banana, papaya and pineapple for their visitors to enjoy. The house is large with a great master suite and a large second bedroom and bath. The house is perfect for two couples. The kitchen is fully equipped and my wife prepared some great meals. Living and dining areas were expansive with lots of seating and a large Hi Def TV, DirecTV and internet. Sliders were along the whole ocean side of the house and opened onto a tiled deck with lounge chairs and small table and chairs for lunch on the deck. The Sunset views were outstanding every evening, and the stars were amazing. While we were there we had multiple sightings of dolphins and one afternoon we watched a diver spear fishing for lobster/crayfish, pretty amazing! We had a great time and would highly recommend this property for a great vacation.

Water front tranquility

  • 5 of 5

George the caretaker met us in town making it extremely easy to find the house which allowed him to show us around and answer any questions. From the moment we pulled down the drive it was WOW!!! Beautiful home, outside and inside. Kitchen is nicely laid out and fully stocked with everything you'll need to cook any meal. Open floor plan flows nicely threw out with beautiful furnishings. Two fabulous bedrooms with the master bathroom having a huge shower, beds are extremely comfortable... I slept like a rock (o: The views are amazing with a nice walkway to the waters edge and stairs leading right into the Caribbean Blue... Thank you Randy for sharing your Lovely home with us
