We spent our honeymoon in Eleuthera 28 years ago and fell in love with the island/people and decided to build a home here. We walk sometimes into town to have coffee at Da Perk or just to go for stroll along the ocean.
Governors Harbour is centrally located maximizing your time on the island

The listing of the property doesn't do it justice. From the time we arrived, my wife and I were amazed at the very spaciousness, quality, comfort, and luxuriousness of the vacation home. The property caretaker met us in the small town (they were all small towns/settlements on Eleuthera) of Governor's Harbour, which was not far from the property, and showed us around when we arrived. He was very friendly and easy to talk to, and knew everything about the vacation home, since he helped build it. The location was secluded and the views were spectacular. We were able to snorkel just off the water's edge from the convenient steps that led straight into the water. The furnishings were modern and all in great condition, the beds were super comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare wonderful meals. The central location of the home was perfect and made it easy to explore both ends of the island and everywhere in between.
There was something going on every night of the week, if we wanted something to do, that was easy to find after a little driving to one of the nearby restaurants.
We enjoyed dinner at Tippey's beachside restaurant that served the best lobster, Pascal's poolside bar which provided drinks and a refreshing dip while taking a break from driving up the beach road that hugged the coast for miles that went through sections of dense overgrowth, then opened up to beautiful beaches that were everywhere. Monday night was pizza night at The Rainbow Inn (reservations are recommended), which provided yet another beautiful sunset overlooking the Caribbean side of the island.
I would recommend Eleuthera for someone looking for a low key, laid back vacation away from the crowds, and would also recommend Sea La Vie for one of the nicest and well furnished places we've stayed.

We rented Sea La Vie for the first two weeks of March and had an outstanding vacation! The property is located 1.5 miles outside the center of Governor’s Harbor so it was extremely convenient to grocery, hardware stores, banks, restaurants and the beaches (French Leave and Tippy’s). The house is off of Queen’s highway down a long drive so it was very private and directly on the Caribbean shore. The house was set back about 100 feet from the shoreline with a walkway over the coral formation and stairs directly into the ocean. It was possible at mid tide to push off from the bottom stair into the ocean and to enjoy some really outstanding snorkeling. The coral formations along the shoreline supported a substantial population of tropical fish and we really enjoyed the water quality.
Randy and Judy were very easy to work with, answered all our questions before we arrived and even followed up with a call during our stay to ensure that we were enjoying the house . They coordinated our meeting with George the caretaker who met us in town, led us to the house and was a great resource during our stay.
The house itself is a couple of years old and very well maintained. The landscaping is maturing nicely and they have established a small garden/orchard with banana, papaya and pineapple for their visitors to enjoy. The house is large with a great master suite and a large second bedroom and bath. The house is perfect for two couples. The kitchen is fully equipped and my wife prepared some great meals. Living and dining areas were expansive with lots of seating and a large Hi Def TV, DirecTV and internet. Sliders were along the whole ocean side of the house and opened onto a tiled deck with lounge chairs and small table and chairs for lunch on the deck. The Sunset views were outstanding every evening, and the stars were amazing. While we were there we had multiple sightings of dolphins and one afternoon we watched a diver spear fishing for lobster/crayfish, pretty amazing! We had a great time and would highly recommend this property for a great vacation.
George the caretaker met us in town making it extremely easy to find the house which allowed him to show us around and answer any questions. From the moment we pulled down the drive it was WOW!!! Beautiful home, outside and inside. Kitchen is nicely laid out and fully stocked with everything you'll need to cook any meal. Open floor plan flows nicely threw out with beautiful furnishings. Two fabulous bedrooms with the master bathroom having a huge shower, beds are extremely comfortable... I slept like a rock (o: The views are amazing with a nice walkway to the waters edge and stairs leading right into the Caribbean Blue... Thank you Randy for sharing your Lovely home with us
Sea La Vie is a beautiful, newly built home in a fabulous, central location. It's views are incredible and it's privacy is fabulous, especially considering it's close proximity to Governors Harbour. The owners, Randy and Judy, have done a wonderful job in furnishing their home with comfortable, yet stunning pieces. They have taken the time to ensure their home's functionality and comfort for their guests. The kitchen, especially, is fully stocked with an impressive number of appliances-large and small. Randy was very easy to work with in arranging our stay and prompt in his responses to us. He was genuinely interested in ensuring our stay was a good one. George, the caretaker, is very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed talking with him as he showed us around the property upon our arrival. We've travelled to Eleuthera five times and stayed in a few different homes. Sea La Vie was absolutely the nicest home we've had the pleasure of staying in and very much look forward to returning!
Stayed for one week in May and it was exactly what I was looking for. The property is quite private and secluded, but still only a short drive into Governor's harbor for food and provisions, etc. A lot of good beaches close by too. The house is essentially brand new and very well maintained, fully loaded with every comfort you could want. The owner and caretaker were very attentive and easy to work with. The house sits right on the water with stairs to access the water, and though it's a bit rocky, there is some really good snorkeling right there. Overall a wonderful stay and my only regret is that I couldn't stay longer!
This new, well equipped waterfront home is located on the rocks of the Caribbean Sea just off the Queens Highway one mile south of Governors Harbour. Enjoy the most beautiful sunsets Eleuthera has to offer from multiple vantage points. You can sunbath on the large back porch or on the conveniently located pad with steps leading to the water for a relaxing swim. The famous pink sands Club Med beach, one of the best in Eleuthera, is less than 10 minutes away. Three airports service Eleuthera including Governors Harbour (GHB), North Eleuthera (ELH), and Rock Sound (RSD) with Governors Harbour only 15 minutes away. Most connections route you through Nassau (NAS), Ft. Lauderdale (FLL) or Miami (MIA), Governor's Harbour's central location allows you to explore north and south locations easily.
