About Caroline Yung
We have been coming to this area and our 1000 Island property for 30 years. We have travelled the world extensively for business and pleasure. We have visited many great spots in Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and the America’s but the 1000 Islands region remans our favourite. We use HomeAway almost exclusively for our travel accommodation needs and recommend it to all.
Caroline Yung purchased this House in 2013
Why Caroline Yung chose Gananoque
We own another property, which is now our full-time home, very near by, so we're close by if you need help! We bought River’s Ridge because it had such a great presence on the River and within town. It’s a historic home with great windows and a stone foundation. 100 years ago it was likely a local workers simple home. We restored things and updated others. It has all new plumbing, electrical, gas heat and a fantastic kitchen to cook in and relax.
What makes this House unique
This home is truly unique in Gananoque offering: an on the River experience an in town experience within walking distance to everything an aesthetic appeal that is comfortable and relaxed there are perennial gardens out front and back with quiet sitting places

By the river
The house is perfectly positioned by the river. Cool breeze on a hot day, can be found while resting in the shade, on chairs at the top of garden. Watching the river and all it's activity was a perfect way to unwind. The location is a quick walk to shops and restaurants and short drive to nearby Kingston and all that has to offer. The house has so much charm and care and detail is applied to everything, making your stay a perfect home from home. The house although old has been throughly updated. Giving it a lovely atmosphere and blend of old and new. It has a very well stocked kitchen and makes meal prep on vacation so easy. I've never wanted to 'cook'while on holiday before but found excuses to do so!!!. Beds were very comfortable, with lovely linens and we slept very well in this lovely oasis. No surprise that we have booked already for the next year!!!
Great, central location for a Gan visit
This is quite a lovely house to stay in during your visit to Gananoque. The central location is fantastic - you can walk everywhere in downtown Gan in a short time. It is on a main street so be prepared for a bit of noise at night (people walking by and speaking loudly, traffic noise) but nothing major and it certainly doesn't take from all the positives this property brings to the table. The artwork and decor are very charming as is the house itself; the quality of the property is great and well worth the rental fee. There's a nice view of the rivers from the small deck and you can have sun or shade as you like. The host, Caroline, is fantastic, and very responsive to any questions.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience the real flavor of the Gan at its best.
Comfortable, quaint with lots of character. Well appointed and well situated for a fall getaway.
Friends who have moved away in retirement met up for a few days here. The house provided plenty of space to enjoy cosy evenings and leisurely mornings with lots of places surrounding for afternoon adventures.
The kitchen had everything we needed for the few meals we prepared and there were restaurants close by.
The back yard was lovely, but unfortunately it was to chilly to really enjoy it.
Altogether we had a lovely time catching up together.
We are very glad you enjoyed your stay this fall!
Consider visiting in the summer when you can enjoy all the Town and the outdoors has to offer - restaurants, shopping, boat tours, theatre, museums, and much more.
We appreciate you staying with us and we invite you back any time!
My husband and I enjoyed staying at this property. The owners have done a great job with the restoration of this house.
We appreciate your comments. We tried to make our house as comfortable as possible for our guests. It's important that our guests enjoy the house and our town ... with lots of amenities. Theatres, restaurants, shops, hiking trails, boat tours, museums and more! We have a lot to offer our guests. Thank you for staying with us.
Amazing house and perfect location
Our kitchen is under renovation so for Thanksgiving we decided to meet up with our daughter who is in her first year at Queen's. The location was close enough to Kingston that we were able to zip back and forth easily but Gananoque was so pretty with the fall colours we found ourselves not wanting to leave. Big thanks to Caroline for allowing us to stay in her beautiful house.
This quaint home on a side street just off the main drag was a delight. The location was perfect for both walking and easy driving in and out of town.
There were four adults staying here, and each of us enjoyed ourselves totally. Two spacious bedrooms on the second floor with a full bathroom. A 1/2 bath on the first floor was a nice addition.
The home was immaculate, and had a kitchen worthy of a cook's delight. There was a gas grill on the deck which was a pleasant surprise. In the very back of the property was a small two person deck, that looked out over the water, and brought many hours of tranquil boat and sun watching.
The main deck off the kitchen was more than enough for the four of us to enjoy some of our meals outdoors.
All in all we could not have asked for a better location, comfortable quarters and a owner who was there for any questions or concerns. We would give this property a five star rating.,
Thank you so much for the great review. We use HomeAway all the time when we travel and also appreciate the little extras that make a difference. We're glad you found the location convenient and the home comfy. Glad you enjoyed Rivers Ridge and Gananoque and hope you’ll visit again!
Gananoque is known as the "Gateway to the 1000 Islands". It is located where the Gananoque River meets the St. Lawrence River and is within an area known as the "The Frontenac Arch". The arch is a large area of some of the earth's oldest granite rock that joins the Appalachian mountains in the USA with the Canadian Shield. The 1000 Islands are the remains of granite mountains that were worn down by glaciers 10,000 years ago. The granite rock (often pink), blue sky and waters and green forests make this one of the most beautiful areas anywhere. Please look up Frontenac Arch Biosphere for lots of information on what to discover and enjoy here.
