Bernal pied-à-terre is a special place in a hidden gem of a neighborhood. Ideally located for folks who want to explore the city or commute to the Peninsula or East bay. We love Bernal Heights! It offers great outdoors, fantastic restaurants and shops. But most of all we love it for the eclectic community that resides in here.
We love to introduce our guests to local businesses and products.
A unique gift will be waiting for you upon your arrival.
Every month we'll highlight a local product (culinary or not). Surprise!
My fellow grandmother and I stayed here for a month to be near our children and our brand new grandson and his 2 year old brother. The location was perfect for us - right off Cortland St - and the apartment itself was quite adequate. Since one of our primary tasks was the preparation of dinners, being so close to Good Life (wonderful local grocery store) was really a plus. The kitchen had all the equipment we needed, including some great spices left by former renters. Unfortunately, as others have noted, the futon was really not intended for sleeping on for more than a night or two. We ended up bringing in a blow up air mattress so my fellow grandmother could get a good night's sleep. Unlike the futon, the bed in the bedroom was very comfortable. We had some issues with the quality of the internet but we were too tired out by our 2 year old grandson to ever turn on the tv or try to watch Netflix so I can't speak to how it would have worked - Pandora had to buffer in order to even play music. That being said, I'm sure if we had needed more direct intervention Anya and Trent would have worked to rectify the problem. (They were very good about responding to my emails about a few other minor problems, quickly taking care of my concerns.) The outdoor space was also a real plus - though by the end of our month it needed a gardener's attention. I will certainly consider staying here in the future.
House was very nice. It's a bit loud in the evenings but I would assume all areas in SanFran are the same :)
We never used the pull out in the living room - but we made a bed of pillows for our son in the main bedroom, while we slept in full size bed. The full size bed wasn't very comfortable but everything else was so nice it didn't take away from the trip. Also the washer and dryer in the basement was an added plus!
We Suggest the Tapas Restaurant across Courtland and the Red Hill Station around the corner on Courtland. Also the coffee shop 100 feet from front door has the best bagel sandwiches!
We came with your 3 year old son - the area was perfect. Several parks, library and train table to play with in the resale shop all off Courtland!
Lastly, we made the mistake of never walking up the hill to the park at the very very top. Our only regret. Our son was to tired on the last day to get out and walk around. We drove up and stopped for a moment. It's absolutely gorgeous. An entire view of the city and all the bridges. Once you see the view you see why so many would want to live in Brenial Heights.
The neighborhood is moderately shabby/moderately quaint. All walks of life. But we never felt unsafe. Neighborhood was very friendly.
Recommend highly & the area
A lovely property situated in a prime location in SF. Beautiful back yard and well furnished flat. Close to several solid options for coffee and restaurants. Parking no issue if you're willing to walk a block or so. Would certainly recommend to anyone looking to rent this property in the future.
Property was clean and well-maintained. Nice art displayed in living room.
We stayed at this property with our granddaughters. We loved the location--just around the corner from Martha's coffee. The property has a nice kitchen, a charming backyard, and everything you need for a great San Francisco stay. Bernal Heights is a fun neighborhood-- convenient to public transportation, restaurants, a wonderful grocery store, and small shops. Climb Bernal Hill for a magnificent view of the city. Prior to arrival, we received detailed directions for use of the property and everything went smoothly. At one point I needed to contact the owner. I sent a text and received an immediate reply. I would recommend this property and will definitely use it again when we return to San Francisco.
Great location, everything is close by. Public transit is very easy. Communications with the hosts is efficient. Great apartment with all amenities. I would definetely rent again.
We visit SF often and we will definitely be staying here again. Tucked away just off Cortland and close to coffee shops, two lovely bakery's, Whole Foods, Epicurean and so many more great shopping spots. It's a short walk to Bernal Hill and Holly Park is near by too. Bus lines are close by so coming and going was simple. We have family that live in Bernal Heights and to find this VRBO only a short distance from her place was a great asset.
Comfy and Cozy suits the description well for this great VRBO.
