Wonderful getsway

  • 5 of 5

Of all the houses I've rented in the Catskills over the years, this one just might be my favorite. Nestled on a gentle slope down a winding driveway, this secluded beauty offered privacy, tranquility, the sights and sounds of nature (including an adorable resident woodchuck), peace, quiet and a spacious lawn to run around with our pup. The octagonal shape was not just unique, it meant that many more windows to enjoy the view of the mountain across the way, each day growing more and more colorful in the early October season. Perhaps three minutes or so outside the village of Windham, and an easy drive to many trailheads, we enjoyed day after day of hiking, and had a very comfortable home with a fully equipped kitchen and all the necessaries in the pantry to supplement any seasonings or what not to prepare dinner that we might have forgotten. The house and property were clean, everything was in good working order, I cannot think of a single thing to criticize. Well, maybe it would have been nice to have more cable channels, but of course that's not what we go on vacation to the mountains for, and it meant evenings out laying in the grass marveling at the sky or sitting by the fire pit enjoying some s'mores. I'm not one to sing high praises about anything, but in reflecting on our experience it would be dishonest to tone it down.

Quiet getaway

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time at the property! The house is set back in the woods off a dirt driveway, giving you plenty of privacy. The yard has plenty of room for activities and a nice sized fire pit. Wood was also provided, which was awesome. The house itself was comfortable and clean. Lots of amenities included. Owners were very friendly and easily available through text, email, or phone.

Our group had a great time utilizing the size of the yard for activities. Lots of great hiking in the area, all within a half hour drive. Beautiful spot to relax, have a drink, and enjoy nature. We will be returning!
