AT LAST is the perfect name for this Victorian Beach House. The owners have lovingly brought the home back to life and now want to share it with you. This PET FRIENDLY home is 2 blocks to the Beach, 1 block to Town and 2 blocks to the 5 acre Town Park. Park your car for the week and explore the Town on foot or in a rented golf cart. Cape Charles is golf cart friendly.
The home offers 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, living room, dining room, family room, kitchen and laundry room. A large fenced in back yard with mature growth trees and plantings offer a cozy setting as your sitting around the fire-pit.
Cape Charles offers great restaurants, shopping, gourmet markets, art galleries, theater, pharmacy, medical services and library. No license is required for the Town fishing pier so bring your polls.
Do you like horseback riding, antiquing, fishing, sailing, jet skiing, kayaking, windsurfing? We have all that and more. Bring your family on a vacation they will remember. We know you'll be back.
Cute, older home. Enjoyed the location. One block from shops and two blocks from beach. House had everything we needed. Only downfall was the extremely small shower and the fire pit in the back yard wouldn't light. Enjoyed our stay!
The location is fantastic, five minute walk to the beach, right next to the ice cream shop, a pub and other shopping. The house was clean, well stocked and had a working grill that we used daily. The fenced in yard is great for pets and kids.
We stayed at "at last cottage" this past week and had such a blast. This was the very first time that my closest friend and her family as well as my family were able to vacation together and CC was the perfect location considering they are are NY and we are in VA. The location of this home is fantastic!! Right around the corner from Brown Dog, how could you go wrong?? The beach was sooo close we still did however need to rent a golf cart considering the amount of stuff we had to bring to and from the beach with 3 kids. The house was very cozy, on the smaller side but just enough room for 4 adults and 3 kids.
Couple of things I wish were just a little different....wish there was more than 1 shower, a dishwasher, more kitchen counter space but don't let that deter you the house is great.
We enjoyed our stay at "At Last Cottage." The furniture was comfy, the kids enjoyed the shaded and fenced backyard, and it was great to have a big bathtub downstairs to rinse them off after a trip to the Cape Charles beach (about a 5 minute walk from the house). It was nice to be able to walk to restaurants (and ice cream!), the park, and the library. The kitchen was well-stocked with all the pots, pans, and dishes we needed - plus there were even some skewers for making s'mores in the backyard.
My husband, mother-in-law and 8-month-old son stayed at this rental with our two dogs last week. The pros: LOCATION is perfect being two blocks from the beach and one block to the main street, BACKYARD is fenced for the dogs, ROOMS are nice sizes and accommodated us well, LIVING AREA is very comfortable. However, there are some cons: the shower is VERY small, and there is only one. The kitchen is also very small. We experienced what another reviewer wrote about the terrible hydrogen sulfide smell of the water.. it was nauseating the first day and then maybe got a little better, or maybe we just got used to it. It made the whole house smell like rotten eggs after we did dishes or someone showered. We've stayed at other Cape Charles rentals and didn't have this issue with the water, so I'm not sure what's going on with this house. There were also tons of ants, but they only seemed to be in the living room! We actually didn't have a problem with them in the kitchen. In the living room, however, they would crawl out of the chair and couch onto us and were all over the side tables, etc. Even with the ants and the water smell, the location and size of this house (along with yard for dogs) made it a good pick for our family vacation.
A lot of advantages to this house. Walking distance to main stretch and down the street from nice beach. This is our first visit to Cape Charles. The house is great for dog owners with a lovely private fenced in back yard. Around the corner from a neat old pub with excellent food. Overall the house is well kept and very clean. Ceiling fans offer nice air flow in all rooms. Loved sitting in front porch drinking coffee in the morning. We were unable to start the propane fire pit but not a deal killer. The real deal killer is the terrible hydrogen sulfide smell emitted from the water. My guess is that this is a hot water heater problem as it happens with hot water only but could be pipes. Makes morning shave and shower not something to look forward too. Pretty bad odor. Hopefully this can be addressed.
