About Cyndi Slocumb

Family owned!

Cyndi Slocumb purchased this house in 2007

Why Cyndi Slocumb chose Coastal North Carolina

We wanted a piece of heaven for ourselves and our kids to enjoy. Where else can you find non-commercial waterfront property? You can go out on the boat and not even see another boat for hours. You can clam, catch fish, crab and shrimp off the pier behind the house. You can go over to the banks and collect sea shells and sand dollars for hours and not see another person. You can go to the jetty and have 15 ft visibility for snorkeling - where else on the east coast is that possible?

What makes this house unique

Every room, but one, has waterfront views. The sunsets are amazing! Close enough to Beaufort (35 minutes) for museums, great restaurants and other activities.

Nice, well-maintained home. Beautiful views. Convenient dock.

  • 5 of 5

The house is in a tiny town and the area is very quiet and peaceful. There's a small restaurant within walking distance, but we cooked all our meals.

We came to relax, fish, and collect shells. We visited two of the barrier islands which were mostly devoid of people (yay!) and had lots of wildlife.

The dock is close to the house, making it super-convenient to jump in to go fishing/shelling without the whole production of driving to a public dock every time we wanted to use the boat. The public dock is about a mile away, so it's a quick trip to put the boat in the first day. There's a fish-cleaning station and a bench at the end of the dock. Be aware that the boat lift isn't available for use and there's no power available on the dock. We brought a long extension cord to charge the trolling motor battery. There's a big table under the house where we could set up our fishing equipment.

The house was well-maintained and clean. I was surprised (and pleased) to find all the basic necessities like hand, dish, and laundry soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and a nice array of spices. There's a Dollar General close by if you forget anything. I stopped in to replace the box of microwave popcorn I used and found DG even had a decent selection of cold groceries.

The furniture, including the bed in the master bedroom, was clean and comfortable. The mattress makes loud noises when moving. I didn't look, but I'm guessing the culprit was a mattress cover. Once we settled in, it was comfortable and we slept well. The linens were nice and clean.

The screened porch was one of the reasons I chose this house and it did not disappoint. It's big enough to comfortably hold the picnic table and lots of chairs. We watched the sunset out there almost every night.

The water pressure is good. The water feels soft and I'm pretty sure I heard a water softener system running. The water from the fridge dispenser tasted great.

The WiFi was fast enough for surfing and email. I didn't try to stream video.

We had a few minor issues, a beeping smoke detector (found a battery in drawer to replace it) and a tv failure (there was a second tv), but these were things that can happen in any home.

The owner was very friendly and responsive to questions before and during our stay. We received our deposit within a few days of returning home.

We had a wonderful time. We would stay here again and would recommend it to family and friends.

Serenity at Sealevel

  • 5 of 5

We experienced a great vacation at this beautiful location. The home was clean and had all of the amenities we needed from cooking the catch off of the back dock for dinner to enjoying a sunset view from the back porch. Our family enjoyed all nature had to offer. For those who may want a little more entertainment there is games to keep everyone occupied with hours of fun if it rains. A boat ride to drum inlet produced a bag full of whole conk shells and views of dolphins, horseshoe crabs, birds diving and fish jumping. Great kayaking location also (winds/waves can change quickly). In the summer bugs will be out at 8pm sharp, bug spray is recommended or enjoy a bug free night out on the porch with your favorite dog.
