My name is Gerald P. Rothman from Manchester, CT, owner of Sugartop unit 2717. After owning my first Sugartop condominium for over 30 years (unit 2415) I decided in January 2014 to purchase another unit at the Sugartop (unit 2717). I spent several months with my wife working on remodeling and decorating this unit before advertising on HomeAway & VRBO this past June. Like my other unit, the view is spectacular...overlooking the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains and the Sugar Mountain Ski Resort. As with my other unit, this condominium is immaculate and a great place to stay.
There were numerous reasons why I decided to purchase my second unit at Sugartop. However, there were two main reasons that were most important to me. First, the building was constructed entirely of cement and steel, subsequently making the building 'fireproof'. Also, the exterior landscaping and interior of the building are both in excellent condition. Secondly, the management team and full time maintenance staff under the leadership of Mr. Dennis Lacey, have kept and will continue to keep the building in superb condition, which you will witness upon your arrival. As far as reviews I would suggest you visit our reviews from our previous guests for unit 2415. We have received nothing but 4 and 5 stars.
Should you need any assitance with booking your reservation at Sugartop or any questions you may have, please do not hesitate to call Colleen Riggott (Property Manager at Rothman Real Estate, LLC). Colleen can be contacted Monday-Friday 9:00 am - 6:00 pm .

Condo was nice and clean. Was really close to sugar mountain and had a beautiful view. Nice fireplace, spa, jacuzzi, and sauna. Few downsides include Tapwater was a little chlorinated and had to park 5 minutes away in a lot and get picked up by a bus and driven up to the condo. Been to this place twice.
We stayed in the sugar top 2 bedroom for a long ski weekend. I was very impressed with the condo and property. The bedrooms were very nicely furnished and the beds were especially comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with whatever you would need to cook with. The living area was comfortable with beautiful views of the mountains. We ski'd both Sugar mountain and Beech mountain since they are close by. The pool and jacuzzi were welcome after a day of skiing. Last note is there were at least 4 night lights. A very nice touch especially if you have younger children
I have been skiing at Sugar Mountain for years (formally skied a lot at Sugar Bowl), and have seen that building on the hill and wondered about it. Now I know. The unit was very well set up, and for a more extended stay, the full kitchen and dining room would really come in handy. The check-in, parking, and checkout all went smoothly. I sat in the chair on the left watching Clemson's win at last second for the national championship. Hardly touched anything, so think the cleaning fee was a bit high, but can see when it is full for a week, it would be justified.
No knock on the unit, management, or my stay - but the wind - lol! I had read up on the facility and have experienced the same wind at the top of Sugar Mountain, so no big deal. Don't let it keep you from staying here (it is only occasional) , and especially at this unit - which I think was the best deal I could find up there.
Nice property. Apartment was clean and had a great view of the mountains. We enjoyed the pool and the sauna downstairs.
We stayed here for my children's first ski trip. I do not have anything negative to say about this rental property! The condo was very clean and very cozy! The views from every window were absolutely spectacular. My children loved waking up and seeing the ski slopes every morning. I would definitely recommend this property and would stay here again! Having to park down the mountain and take the shuttle to and from the lobby was a bit annoying but the shuttle was always extremely efficient. We never waited very long for a shuttle. The owner was very quick with responding to my emails, also! Like I said before, nothing negative to say!!
This condominium has a magnificent view of Sugar Mountain Ski Slope which is located just minutes away and is the largest ski resort in North Carolina! No matter your level of experience you will find Sugar Mountain Ski Slope is a fantastic place to ski, snowboard, ice-skate and tube at a affordable price! A new challenging trail was opened last 2014-2015 season. For additional information their telephone number is 1-800-784-2768. Weather permitting Sugar Mountain Ski Slope is continually making snow with their new energy efficient equipment to ensure that their slope's are at its best conditions for your stay.
Don't miss out on enjoying the large indoor heated pool with waterfall adjacent to the whirlpool, steam room, sauna and exercise room. This area is fully glassed in to enhance your view of the mountain region.
There are numerous close by attractions and activities to visit during your stay at Sugartop Resort. The Quaint Town of Banner Elk, a few miles away, offers fine restaurants, antiquing and shopping. Grandfather Mountain is just a few miles off Route 321. A visit to this park will be a memorable experience especially the view from the swinging bridge. Hiking is a popular activity at this park. Picnic tables and grills are located throughout the park or you can enjoy a meal at the restaurant. If you like sweets, you should be sure to drop into The Fudge Shop. Other sites are the Tweetsie Railroad, Blowing Rock, Linn Cove Viaduct, Land of Oz Bridge, Sleepy Hollow Bridge, Flat Top Manor and Mast General Store. Finally, there is the opportunity to drive along 'America's Favorite Drive' - the picturesque Blue Ridge Parkway which extends from Virginia to Georgia, a distance of 469 miles.
If you are a golf enthusiast there are numerous beautiful and challenging golf courses available. Also nearby for kids and parents alike there is gem-stone mining, zip-lining, horseback riding, rafting and numerous hiking opportunities.
Lastly, if you wish to drive to Boone, N.C., only 14 miles, you will find a large selection of fine restaurants, antique shops, retail shopping and of course your favorite fast food establishments. Appalachian State University is located in this town, where they offer many cultural and sporting events. I am sure you and your family will enjoy your vacation at one of North Carolina's premier locations a mile-high atop Sugar Mountain.
