CASA CENAMI is ideally located in the heart of Lucca's historic center. Step outside the front door and in less than a minute you're sipping a cappuccino in Piazza San Michele, window shopping on the stylish Via Fillungo, sipping wine in the 2nd century BC anfiteatro, listening to nightly operatic arias, gazing at the striking golden mosaic facade of San Frediano, photographing panoramics atop the Guinigi tower, delighting in the tastes of the countless wonderful Lucca restaurants, or taking an afternoon stroll, bike ride or jog around the 16th century walls encircling Lucca's centro storico. At the end of the day, return to the comfort of Casa Cenami where the thick walls keep it cool in summer and warm in winter.
Our flat is a two level apartment on the 2nd floor of an historic, well-cared for building. All the charm of past centuries: beamed ceilings; hand-crafted Lucca floor tiles that have been maintained but coupled with modern comfort and convenience. We provide free wireless so you can share your experiences with friends and family back home. An additional bathroom w/shower was added upstairs in 2011 to allow a bathroom & shower for each main bedroom. The apartment is ideal for 2 couples. A gourmet, fully equipped gas stove kitchen allows you to try out local produce and products. The two bedrooms both have a queen size beds and a small twin bed is off the upstairs bedroom. Antiques we purchased from Lucca's monthly antiques market outside our front door adorn the space but comfy couches allow for quiet afternoon naps. There's a washing machine, iron & ironing board upstairs. All linens and towels are provided. Plus we provide 2 bicycles to explore the ally ways and walls of Lucca.
CASA CENAMI allows for endless day trips. Catch the train, bus or drive to coastal Cinque Terre, the leaning tower of Pisa, the marble mining mecca of Pietrasanta, the palio horse races in Siena or other Tuscan hillside towns, miles of wine and olive oil routes and Florence is only 45 min drive away.
Getting to Lucca is easy. Fly direct from USA to Pisa. Catch a 25 min bus that goes direct from Pisa airport to inside the walls of Lucca. Then within a 5 min walk, you're home. Or fly into Florence and catch the bus or train to Lucca - transport here is easy.
Check out two Lucca iPhone apps: 'Enjoy Lucca' or 'The Tuscan Magazine'. Both available for download on iPhone and iPad.

About Pip Gilmour
I am a filmmaker and Karen is an award-winning photographer. Her photographs from around the world hang on our walls. Both of us use Casa Cenami as a getaway, a place to think, write, relax and get rejuvenated.
Pip Gilmour purchased this Apartment in 2006
Why Pip Gilmour chose Lucca
Lucca is the ideal location. We can fly into Pisa and in 30 minutes by bus we're in Lucca. Or we can take the train or drive to Florence in under an hour. Public transport gives us access to the famous Cinque Terre region, medieval Sienna & other Tuscan hill towns, sunbathing on the Mediterranean coast, or skiing and it's all within a hour or two.
What makes this Apartment unique
When we're in Lucca, we love to go on wine and olive oil tours & tastings, dine al fresco in one of the many fantastic Lucca restaurants, pick up fresh porcini mushrooms or truffles with hand-made pasta to cook at home or check out the stalls at the monthly art market outside our front door. There's always a concert going on in one of the piazzas or churches plus art & photo exhibitions. And beyond that, just strolling the ancient walls always brings a serenity to the day.

Great place and Perfect location
We had a wonderful time. After a few days in Lucca, I can’t imagine a better location. Eva the house manager was most helpful. The place is fully appointed and has a great kitchen.. I highly recommend.
Lucca stay ...bella bella bella
Loved the location right in the Centre of Lucca. The apartment was completely as pictured with everything you could need. Pip the owner was quick to answer any queries by email prior to the stay and her on site property manager Eva did an excellent job.
We stayed for 2 weeks (Sept 29-Oct 12 2017) to really explore the wonderful medieval walled city of Lucca...with everything from designer to daily shopping, to an endless supply of cafes and restaurants, and of course the historical sights of Lucca itself.
The apartment was only a short walk to the train station ... easy for us for day trips to Florence, Pisa, Viareggio (beautiful beach), Monticini and the Cinque Terre as well as a booked tour to a winery.
Visit to Lucca, Cinque Terra Trail and Pisa
This charming apartment, is located in the heart of Lucca, only steps away from fantastic shops and food. Be prepared to walk up several flights of stairs, but once your luggage is up, you are ready to enjoy the many, many sites and sounds of Lucca.
Eva met us at the apartment and was very nice and extremely helpful getting our bearings. The only downside was the internet was out during our stay.
Just a note to anyone planning to stay in Lucca, plan on spending more time than you thought just strolling through the streets of Lucca. Lots to see.
Little gem in the center of Lucca
My mother-in-law and I were in Lucca for 3 nights during our trip to Tuscany and had a wonderful stay in Casa Cenami. The apartment is so lovely and met all of our expectations and needs. It was very clean, quiet, cozy and centrally located within Lucca. They provided a lot of information about the local area including maps, in-depth travel books and recommendations for local restaurants. The apartment is also furnished with all the comforts and necessities of home.
Eva, the apartment manager was incredibly warm and welcoming, and she provided all the information we needed to check in/out while making the process very easy. We were also able to arrange a cooking class with her and her husband to learn how to create local Tuscan dishes. Shopping at the local markets was fun, the food they made was delicious and it was overall a fantastic and very local experience!
I worked through the VRBO site to communicate with the owner, Pip, and he was very responsive, provided a lot of information about the apartment and made the payment process very straightforward and smooth.
Lucca is an absolute gem and we loved exploring the city and its treasures, as well as walking on the city wall. Casa Cenami is a perfect place to stay while exploring such a special place and I would recommend it to anyone. We cannot wait to return to Lucca and would definitely stay again at Casa Cenami.
Thank you again Pip and Eva!!!
Donna and Maurine (New York and Los Angeles), December 2016
The apartment is centrally located, lots of space, comfortable and homely, clean, nicely decorated, stays cool and has a great kitchen. Perfect for a stay in central Lucca - living like a local. The host was delightful and responsive.
Location, location awesome
The owner and caretaker great and helpful. Place was beautiful and centrally located. We had issue with Internet and it was very hot in Lucca and this was hard as theere is no AC. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to really experience living in Lucca. My mother in law was raised there in a third floor building in Lucca so my family it was very special. This was one of the best locations we stayed on our 14 day journey. So wanted to do cooking class but didn't have time.
