Large 1 BR, 1 Bath across from The Cove and Kalama Beach Park
About Adam Jacobstein
I am a cabinetmaker in Ithaca, NY. This apartment is owned by my brother-in-law Gavin, who was raised on Maui and lives on Oahu. After marrying his sister, I decided to manage this vacation rental for Gavin. I visit Maui twice a year and love the island, and I am happy to help you in any way to make your vacation great.
Adam Jacobstein purchased this Apartment in 2014
Why Adam Jacobstein chose Kihei
Gavin and his wife Alice purchased this condominium unit to have a place to stay while visiting family on Maui. They looked at many different apartments, but settled on this one because of the location directly across from one of the family's best loved beach parks, the very nice pool area, and the fact that it is larger than most 1 bedroom units in the area. They remodeled it completely in the last year, and chose all new high quality furnishings and decorations to make the apartment a beautiful as well as convenient and fun getaway for their family and renters.
What makes this Apartment unique
This apartment has a huge, wide open view of the ocean through the new 12 foot wide glass wall and sliding doors in the front of the apartment. The pool area for the complex is very nice, with its own ocean front view, and it has a Barbeque area and tennis courts as well. It is very large for a 1BR unit, and there are many options for sleeping, including a folding futon and pack and play in the master bedroom, as well as a comfortable queen size pullout couch in the living room.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Home away fromHome
Absolutely love this condo. We have been coming back the last 5 or 6 years and are pleased every time. The unit is always clean, bed is super comfortable, air conditioning in bedroom and living room, couldn’t ask for a better unit. Adam is always super responsive and we have never had any problems. I look forward to our stay there next year.
Wonderful Kihei beachfront condo
We have stayed many times at Shores of Maui, it is a great condo complex that has everything you would need. The pool and hot tub overlooking the ocean make for great sunsets. The location is perfect with easy walking distance to surfboard/SUP rentals and shops and restaurants.
The unit is a very spacious one bedroom. The kitchen is recently updated and is very nice. The owner is great with communication for anything you may need. The pack and play was nice for our infant daughter
Lovely place to stay
We've stayed at the Shores of Maui before. We love the location as it is ideally situated within easy walking distance of Kihei's beautiful beaches and best restaurants. Unit 225 is an especially nice condo. It is big, clean, and beautifully decorated. There are double sinks in the bathroom with plenty of counter and drawer space for your toiletries. The bedroom is spacious and the bed is very comfortable. There are beach chairs, umbrellas, snorkels, and other gear for your beach days. One of the nicest features is that there are two (two!) air conditioners, one in the living room and one in the bedroom, which keep the condo quite comfortable.
The cons to this unit are few. As another review noted, the sofa is uncomfortable for sitting. It is, however, quite nice for stretching out for a nap. (We didn't try the pull-out, so can't comment on how it is for sleeping.) And yes, one of the lanai chairs still needs to have the woven material rewrapped. (Additionally, the two chairs on the lanai are of different heights, which we found a bit awkward.) There is an ocean view, but it is partially obscured by trees across the street. Still, it is possible to see waves rolling in and paddle boarders at Cove Park.
South Kihei Drive is busy and noisy, and since most condominium complexes are right on the street it is almost impossible to get away from the noise. The good news, though, is that traffic gets much lighter after dark and the bedroom, being at the back of the unit, stays quiet through the night.
We did have to contend with construction noise from the new complex being built across from the Shores of Maui parking lot. During our two-week stay there was heavy equipment operating on all but two days. But the parking lot has been poured and it looks like they are very close to moving into interior finishing. There is also work being done on the culvert next to the complex. The crews start work at about 7 a.m., so if you are planning to visit in May or June of 2019 and are hoping to sleep in, you might want to bring ear plugs.
Aside from these small inconveniences, we very much enjoyed our stay and hope to return to this unit on our next visit.
Thanks so much for staying at our place Lynne and we are glad you enjoyed it. We are in the process of getting new patio furniture, so if you come again we'll have a new set. I'm sorry also for the construction noise, but hopefully that will be over soon.
Great condo near beach and restaurants
The condo has all the standard amenities and more. Everything you need for the beach including chairs, umbrellas, boogey boards and noodles. Nice pool and friendly neighbors. Will definitely come back for another visit.
Nicely remodeled, convenient location
Nice condo, good location, walking distance to shops and restaurants. Nicely appointed but need to replace lanai furniture (chair strapping starting to come apart), shag rugs need to go, and air conditioners a plus but noisy. Owners nice and accommodating. I would rent again.
Thank you for the kind review and the feedback. We do plan to replace the lanai furniture and the rug as well very soon.
Practically Perfect in Every Way
I can't imagine better accommodations - the condo was gorgeous, well appointed, and the location was perfect. Kitchen is fully stocked with everything you'd need, there are boogie boards, snorkels, etc, full laundry services in the unit. An easy walk to Charley Young beach, which is wonderful (saw lots of honu while snorkeling). We loved our stay and would love to come back.
The South Kihei area has the best climate, least rain, cooling breezes and the closest proximity to each and every activity desirable! A 5 minute drive to Kihei Boat Ramp provides boat access for boat rentals, whale watching, scuba diving and the famous Maui snorkel trip to Molokini! Bring your binoculars between December and April and watch some of the 10,000 humpback whales that come here each winter to give birth.
