MAGNIFICENT VIEWS, PEACEFUL & ENERGIZING!
Enjoy the Breathtaking Fall Foliage overlooking Squam Lake, a Tranquil Retreat for the Holidays!
The property is situated at the top of Mt. Fayal, bordering the upper trail system of the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center and Rattlesnake Mountain. Bring your boat and tie up at our dock slip, just down at bottom of the hill. There are spectacular views of the lake and the mountains. Many cozy rooms await. Speaking of rooms, the home offers several quaint rooms where Jack B. Rochester penned many of his books, including a New York Times best seller.
In the main house, there are 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, office, library/media room (with double bed), family room, kitchen, and great deck. The master bedroom and bath is private and cozy offering wonderful views from the private deck. Other features include a roomy cottage with an additional double bed and two twins. It also has a queen futon and full bath.
For your convenience the main house has a washer, dyer, dishwasher, 2 per person bath, barbeque, and air conditioner in the master bedroom (most rooms also have ceiling fans but often are not needed).
A beach? Yes, you will have access to the wonderful private expansive Livermore Beach, just a mile down the street (beach toys included).
The home is conveniently located only two hours from Boston or one hour from the Manchester, NH airport.
The home was wonderful. We got a prompt response with any questions we had and had a great stay. I certainly would recommend and return! Hardest part was just driving up the mountain to get there.
I stayed with my family (kids ages 1, 4, and 6) and my sister's family (kids ages 15 and 18). The house offered all of the comforts of home plus a breath taking view!
The house has a great location to the lake, marina, food, and markets! We ordered lobster, already steamed from the gas station/market about a half mile away... DELICIOUS!
The owner was fantastic and answered all of my questions!
I will stay again!!
We enjoyed a wonderful long weekend at the property. The view is spectacular and the home is located in a very private setting with plenty of beds. We didn't get to use the dock but knowing it is available makes the lake very accessible. We had a pleasant, relaxing stay.
We found the property to be wonderful! The views of the lake from the house are great. There is a deck from the back downstairs, as well as one up on the 2nd floor in the master bedroom. What a view to wake up to each morning! There is also a small cottage in the back so younger adults or another few folks can stay there. The house was clean and well decorated. It was very comfortable and had all of the amenities of home. The kitchen was very well equipped. The owner was very responsive to emails and any questions. He even allowed us to bring our dog - that was a must this time as we had just lost our 2nd dog due to old age, so our remaining dog was not able to be left home alone.
My parents went with us as well as our daughter and her friend. We enjoyed the lake, the neighbors, and hiking up the hill behind the house. The views were great there too! We were able to put our kayak down at the dock and leave it there for our stay. We grilled outside and enjoyed the TV and internet for short periods. We just enjoyed relaxing. We hiked up Rattlesnake Mt. one day too. There are some awesome views of Squam Lake to be seen there.
I highly recommend this place if you want to relax and enjoy Squam!
The house is well appointed with plenty of room and great views of Squam Lake. Plenty to do in the area, especially if you enjoy the lake, hiking, etc. The host was extremely helpful and responsive to our questions and
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this Holderness hidden gem. It was our first time in NH and on Squam Lake and it was such a beautiful, serene area. This house was the perfect fit for the area - it was quiet and away from other homes and it had a great view of the lake. Since our children are smaller, it was better for us to not be directly on the water for safety reasons. However their is dock and water access down the hill a 2 second drive away (it's not terrible walkable).
The house itself was the perfect layout for us and the view was spectacular. It was spacious enough that we weren't on top of each other, but an easy layout to keep an eye on the kids. It was also great that it had wifi and cable (for those times when you just need it). The kitchen was smaller but pretty equipped and the grill was great. We prepared most of our meals there and did not have a problem. My only addition would be a toaster or toaster oven and maybe some comfy chairs for the inside porch area. Other than that, it was clean and the owners were very responsive and accommodating. An added bonus is the trail access from right behind the house. We enjoyed exploring it with our children and had a lovely lunch at the top of Mount Fayal.
Also, we did explore the town beach (which is not easy to find if you don't know where it is). It is only about 1.5 miles up the road on the right (Dirt Rd) and it is fabulous. There was a floating dock and community toys which provided hours of fun for my kids -- and the setting was so beautiful. I didn't get the impression it got much foot traffic.
Finally, the location was very convenient to town and other areas in the Lake Region -- it is extremely close to the nature center which is a must see (esp with small children). Highly recommend this place if you are visit Squam Lake.
