A week with family (9)

  • 4 of 5

Very well equipped home, as described. Clean and comfortable throughout. We spent a lot of time on the deck, which looks out over the lake. The dirt/gravel road to the property from Route 113 is steep, but only a couple hundred yards in length. We managed fine in a Prius.

The kitchen is great, but small -- we prepared almost all of our meals for the week, and found that there was only space for two at a time to be in the kitchen. The Science Center is next door. We expected to access the Mt Fayal ridge trail and Science Center trails from the house, but this was challenging - the trail from the house is steep, rough, and in need of new blazes. Only one bedroom has actual privacy with doors. This was not a problem for us, but groups requiring greater privacy might be disappointed. Also, Guests who are very tall (6'6") might have to duck in one of the bathrooms and when near ceiling fans. There appears to be good lake access via shared dock, but we wound up using a friend's place 1 mile away. The town swimming beach is in a nice, protected cove. Overall, we had a really nice week, and the house provided an excellent place to hang-out or regroup after adventures. All contacts with the owner were great. One small issue (road washout from heavy rain) was dealt with promptly.

Holderness home

  • 5 of 5

Gorgeous view, beautiful property. Very private and quiet. We had a great time here. My two older kids came up and joined us. Plenty of room here for the whole family.

We had plenty to do between the hiking, fishing the lake, and the Pemi river. Owner is extremely responsive, and welcoming, answering any questions we had during our stay. House is very well stocked, and has all the basics to cook, and entertain your self. Grilling on the deck while looking at the mountain / lake view was our favorite.

Road to get here is dirt, and very steep. (that is what makes it so isolated). But was not an issue for us. Be courteous to neighbors here and drive slow, you will love it.

We will rent it again.

Great views, lots of bedrooms and the owner is great!

  • 4 of 5

Great place, loved the views and the owner was fabulous; very easy to work with.

The home is well maintained and a has a unique Southwest/folk art décor that was really cool. Music piped into all the rooms was an added bonus.

Bringing wide trailers up the steep, narrow, dirt mountain road is a challenge, so beware of that. The dock space is quite tight but still useable.

We had a nice week.

Great views, odd spaces, only 2 regular showers

  • 3 of 5

This house is set nice and high with a great view of the lake. One large porch off the main living area and a small one off the master upstairs bedroom have great lake/mountain views. We would have spent more time on them but for the mosquitoes. The main living area is very small given the bed capacity and felt cramped with our group of 6. So is the kitchen. We were attending a wedding and needed an iron and board but there was none. We wanted plenty of bath capacity getting ready for the wedding so were surprised to find only 2 regular showers and a large tub with a handheld sprayer. The lighting switches were confusing. The master shower controls very confusing. The beds were fairly stiff. Master bedroom did not have much of a closet. Good wifi. Was surprised to find we had to take all trash to the dump at the end of our stay, which is an unusual expectation as a renter. I agree it is a very private spot.

Beautiful home and gorgeous lake views!

The home was wonderful. We got a prompt response with any questions we had and had a great stay. I certainly would recommend and return! Hardest part was just driving up the mountain to get there.

Fantastic views!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed with my family (kids ages 1, 4, and 6) and my sister's family (kids ages 15 and 18). The house offered all of the comforts of home plus a breath taking view!

The house has a great location to the lake, marina, food, and markets! We ordered lobster, already steamed from the gas station/market about a half mile away... DELICIOUS!

The owner was fantastic and answered all of my questions!

I will stay again!!
