Beautiful home and lake!

  • 5 of 5

WE spent a week at this home..12 people, ages 7-75, and had a wonderful time. The house is very large and well designed, plenty of space in the great room/open kitchen for all of us, and five bedrooms. KIds enjoyed the inflatable trampoline in the lake, and kayak and canoe let us see bald eagle nest, beaver, deer, etc. while boating and listening to the loons, and hot tub on the deck was used multiple times every day. Appliances are all high quality, kitchen very well equipped, two washers and dryers made it easy to keep up with wet towels. MIchael THomas was easy to contact by phone or email, and answered all questions quickly. Location Is far into the woods on a dirt road, no neighbors close by, and very little traffic on the lake. IT was a geat place to spend a week in August.

Perfect luxury on a lake!

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay at Camp Samuel. Amenities were as advertised and the layout of the house was perfect for multi-generational living. The teenagers lived on the first floor, the grandparents on the main level, and the other adults isolated into a quiet part of the house over the garage. There were plenty of water activities and games to play so none of the teenager were bored. The kitchen was a cook's dream kitchen and easily accommodated our party of 13. We had a positive experience interacting with the concierge, Michael, who helped facilitate some of our outside activities.

We loved romping through the forest to see signs of beavers tearing down logs and stripping them for use, we saw many types of fungi and lichens, we found skulls, egg shells from wild birds, unusual translucent flowers, many different species of tree, we heard loons, and watched a bald eagle soar over the property more than once. One night we enjoyed s'mores and a sing-along at the outdoor fire pit, and more than once we soaked in the hot tub.

If you are with a big group and crave a retreat where everyone can find something to do and still come together at meals to talk about their day, this is the place. I was pleasantly surprised that after a huge and raucous week in the woods with my extended family that I was refreshed and relaxed and reluctantly ready to return to the outside world.

This rental was for a small family gathering (13 adults and teens) to celebrate a 50th Anniversary. The goal was to find a place that had sufficient onsite activities for both teens and adults, to occupy us for the full week. Also, a location with minimum summer crowd activity was important.

Camp Samuel was a perfect choice. While having all the luxuries of home and plenty of room for our family of 13, this lakeside house offered a beautiful outdoor hot tub, kayaks, and a lake trampoline. In addition the spacoius open design and gourmet kitchen fostered tigetherness. Our family chose to add the rental of a pontoon boat which was a huge hit for both kids and adults.

We had a truly memorable family gathering, thanks to our daughter's research in finding this beautiful home and serene location.

Thank you to Michael Thomas for his help as concierge.

I highly recommend Camp Samuel.

Perfect Escape

  • 5 of 5

All we were after was an escape to a lake house for a quiet weekend, and Camp Samuel & the most gracious concierge Michael, provided the most excellent setting for us. The property was more than needed for our small party of 6, we cooked, we played numerous games on the beautiful long wooden table with a roaring fire going & relaxed in the hot tub.

It was perfect and hope to go back and explore in summer.

The Best of the Best

  • 5 of 5

Where to start...Camp Samuel is truly a one of a kind camp. Nothing short changed here, high end everything! The camp was extremely clean, well organized, well stocked (kitchen, and never a shortage on towels :)) it was PERFECT! We were 2 families that had 5 kids (2, 7 year old, 2, 3 years old and 1, 10 month old) the "big" kids had the entire downstairs to themselves. It was so nice for them to have their "own" space. Multiple bookshelves stocked with plenty to entertain their little minds (books, crafts, board-games, card games) and the adults too. We all loved jumping off the water trampoline and swimming. Late afternoon hot tub relaxation was a must as were bonfires in the evening; who doesn't love s'mores?. We rented a boat from a nearby marina and enjoyed some water sporting. The pond is nice and quiet so we didn't have to worry about "boating traffic". Michael the concierge was phenomenal!! Everything he recommended (Spring Creek BBQ, Abbott Bakery, Flatlanders in Greenville, Countryside Meat Market-delicious steaks) we did and were completely satisfied! I would HIGHLY recommend this camp! There were so many great memories made here. The most exciting was seeing 2 Bald Eagles in their natural environment. I could go on and on... If you are looking for a truly one of a kind CAMP look no further, this is the place!!

Photos do not do it justice!

  • 5 of 5

Michael was easy to communicate with and gave us a warm welcome and explained all of the fun amenities (wireless sound in all rooms, wrap-around deck and hot tub, huge bathrooms and modern appliances, etc.). Huge greatroom was perfect for dining and cards (11 adults), and commercial kitchen was well stocked with cookware and serving utensils.

One small complaint, I guess . . .there is only half a moose! Poor thing got stuck in the wall, and we couldn't find its back end anywhere. ;-D
