About the property

6 'casual chic' bedrooms/cottages,6 baths plus 5 outdoor showers, sleeps 26

Welcome to 'The Outpost', a family-friendly compound on a miles-long, deserted pink-sand beach. Originally built to house a private school, The Outpost has been modernized and appointed with polished cypress floors, handmade furniture, and original artwork. The Outpost is located ten minutes from the town of Governors Harbour which has stores, banks, restaurants and services. Excellent restaurants and nightlife, including Cocodimama and Sky Beach Club, are a just five minutes away by car.

The Outpost's Main House consists of a living room, large dining room and a large kitchen, surrounded by covered verandas, all facing the beautiful Atlantic shoreline. The dining room, open-air but covered and fully screened, can seat up to 30. The kitchen has a commercial-size refrigerator and range, double sinks, and plenty of counter space.

Cottage one has two stories and four bedrooms. Downstairs, it has two large bedrooms and two bathrooms. Each bedroom is furnished with twin beds that can be converted to kings. These two bedrooms can be set up with third twin in each, or with three bunk-beds in each for larger groups. The upstairs holds two dormered bedrooms, one with a double and single bed, the other a queen. Cottage one can therefore accommodate from 9 to 17 guests, depending on the bed configuration.

Cottage two has one bedroom and one bathroom. It's furnished with one queen bed and single, and can sleep 3 guests.

Cottage three has four to six single beds, or two kings. It also contains two baths. Although it has just one large bedroom, there are privacy curtains and dividers separating the beds. It can sleep up to 6.

The Outpost also has a fully functional sauna, an outdoor gas grill, a fire pit for cookouts, and a beach shack which provides shade of the trees. All houses are equipped with noseeum screens and are naturally cooled by the ocean breezes. The Outpost has 7 kayaks: 4 double kayaks and 3 single kayaks. Amenities include satellite TV and WIFI in Main House only. The property comes with a live-in caretaker (the owner) and 2 friendly dogs. Cooks and staff are available upon request.

Eleuthera is one of the outlying islands of the Bahamas known as 'Out Islands'.

Located approximately 200 miles east of Miami / Ft. Lauderdale, Eleuthera is about 120 miles long by approximately two miles wide and just two lanes wide where Queen's Highway passes over a bridge to North Eleuthera.

With a population of 10,000, Eleuthera hosts some of the finest coral reefs in the world, as well as some of the longest pink sand beaches.

The Outpost Hotel on Eleuthera resides on a hill top overlooking a remote and pristine 12 mile long, pink sand beach. There is only one other 'neighbor' in that entire distance. One of the best coral reefs on the island resides directly in front of the hotel

Furnished with original art, antiques and interesting hand made furniture, each accommodation is right on the beach with spectacular views.

The Outpost offers you :

- Unparalleled knowledge of Eleuthera's hidden beaches, caves, and secret spots.

- One of the very few places right on the Atlantic beach.

- Rarely found uninhabited beaches: we are totally private.

Originally hand built in 1993 to house Wild Studies high school groups, the Outpost has a main house or lodge for socializing and dining; two dormitory buildings used for summer students, two cottages and two guest rooms. These cottages and guest rooms are now opened to the public. A beautiful sauna facing the beach with a window looking at the Ocean.

Rooms

Rooms are available above our lodge and the Outpost also offers private cottages.

All rooms are a stone's throw away from our secluded beach and are furnished with original art and hand-made furniture.

ROOMS:

Two rooms are available above our dormitories, one furnished with bedposts from a 1790's loyalist mansion. Beds are also available downstairs in the dormitories for children.

COTTAGES:

Our private cottages offer a wonderful view of the beach.

OUTPOST REEF:

The reef directly in front of our main facility is one of the best on the entire island. Massive heads of elk horn and brain coral top a thriving reef covered with soft and hard corals. Fish are plentiful and the varied topography keeps the reefs forever fresh--a week of diving this one site would hardly be enough to get to know it well. Caves and caverns abound. Large grouper and lobster are common. Almost every species of reef fish in these waters can be found here. Depth varies from 2' to 25' so everyone can find the right level for their skills.

ALABASTER BAY:

A smooth turquoise bay, just 2 miles from the hotel, used for snorkel checkouts, diving lessons, and night dives. The sand flats are filled with sand dollars, comb jellies, and needle fish; variety of sessile invertebrates and small colorful fish. Colonies of star brain and fire coral adorn the walls and rock boulders at their base. Queen and grey angels are common at the point, as are small groupers. A cave 3/4 of the way down the wall usually hosts lobster and large spider crabs. This site is located on the Caribbean side.

TURTLE HOLE:

The dive site most often named favorite of the week by of students. Rising nearly to the surface from the thirty foot ocean floor are six mounds of rock and coral. This bottom structure is home to thousands of schooling fish as well as most larger species. Turtles, large groupers, stingray, and barracuda to name a few. A great spot for photos.

THE CLIFFS:

These limestone cliffs rise 40' to 50' above the sea. Spectacular views and sparkling waters make for stunning photos.

HATCHET BAY CAVE:

This cave is still actively growing formations. A great adventure to hike beneath the rock and explore the long twisting tunnel. Massive stalactites dot the ceiling. Huge columns of flowstone rise up, circled by an occasional leaf-nosed bat. Then just when it looks like you've reached the end of the tunnel...drop through the floor and into another level for even more adventure!

HIDDEN BAY:

An Atlantic site, this small crescent beach and the surrounding rocky shore is partially protected from the prevailing winds and currents by James Point to the south. Sometimes we can dive here when no other ocean-side sites are calm enough. The bottom is an interesting mix of bowls, cuts and surge channels: the floor is at 15', cuts and channels may drop off to 25' to 30'. Fish diversity is great, with larger varieties like tarpon and barracuda making occasional appearances. Small green and hawksbill turtles are sighted occasionally. This is one of the few sites where the tiny 9-banded gobies are reliably encountered.

SHOPPING FOR SOUVENIRS:

Pam's shop in Gregory Town. Governor's Harbor and other little villages around the Island.

HARBOR ISLAND:

Drive 45 minutes North to Gregory town, cross the glass window bridge to the ferry and shop, dine and drive around this exclusive Island with a golf cart, enjoy the magnificent waters and remote luxurious properties owned by lots of stars.

About Yolande CITRO

I am a lifelong educator. Founder of the famous Wild Studies programs, I have hosted over 12,000 science students and their teachers at my own facilities in the Bahamas, Costa Rica and Mexico for twenty years. My expertise is combining learning and doing with success/motivation principles. I have been featured in a special on FOX news as well as a feature in Coastal Living Magazine. I am an aviator, flight instructor, aircraft mechanic for over 50 years and have flown all over the world. I am a builder/craftsman/furniture maker, having built my own facilities in remote areas of third world countries. I am a businessman/entrepreneur wishing to help others learn and develop the traits necessary for a happy and successful life.

The question most frequently asked is 'where did you go to school to learn how to do this?'

Now, wanting my Grand-daughter to know these simple secrets I have begun organizing my teachings and condensing them into little sayings, using my ever wise rescue beach dog Lindbergh to illustrate my points.

I've written life's little instruction book, The Lindbergh Journals, and would like to donate profits from that book to your school PTA fund raising efforts while at the same time, allowing students to learn valuable life skills using is as a fund raising tool.

As you may know, many schools and districts have wisely eliminated most foods from their fund raising offers for health reasons. I would like to propose 'edufunding' where we offer books, games, puzzles, anything educational, as fund raising items, providing real and lasting value for any child's development. These items are perfect for any parent, grand parent, aunt, uncle, and especially anyone in the professional and business fields to offer as a gift, and can be offered year after year.

I believe so strongly in this idea that I am willing to offer 50% of profits for each book your group sells.
