Luxury log cabin in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley.

This cute log cabin is like a resort and we are proud to be "Virginia Green Certified". Easy year round access with a level ½ acre lot, enclosed private backyard and ample parking on the driveway.

Immaculate 1280 sq ft. home is literally a stone’s throw to a series of Civil War hiking trails and the George Washington National Forest hosting beautiful trout stocked streams and wildlife.

Ideally situated near the Shenandoah Valley’s top attractions, yet peaceful and quiet, hidden off the beaten path away from the crowds. Less than 2 miles from the Shenandoah River, minutes from Luray Caverns, Skyline Drive, New Market Battlefields, Shenandoah National Park, wine tasting, Massanutten and Bryce resorts both offer year round activities; golf, skiing, water sports, indoor water park, zip lining, spa treatments and restaurants.

2 bedrooms with queen sized beds and 2 full spa like bathrooms. Fully stocked kitchen features high quality pots, pans, utensils, bake-ware, Crockpot, tea kettle, paper products, foil, plastic wrap and anything else you can think of.

Welcoming covered front porch overlooks a small flower garden, organic herb garden and a large grassy area with fruit trees.

Inside, beautiful furnishings throughout provide a comfortable, inviting space for you to kick back and hang out. The family room offers a large leather sofa, TV with DVD player and video library, internet access and a rock faced gas fireplace perfect on a cold night.

End your day with a cocktail in the comfortable conversation area overlooking a large serene, enclosed backyard. Maybe do some barbequing and savor your meal while dining at the shaded picnic table. The 6 person hot tub is perfect for relaxing after a day exploring and offers incredible star gazing.

This is the perfect place to spend your vacation – quiet time alone or making memories with those you hold dear. That’s why we call it “The Great Escape”.

About Linda & Bob Jarrell

The Great Escape Vacation Rentals is a small family business. We own and manage our own property to give our guests the very best experience all around. We appreciate your support and look forward to making your vacation unforgettable.

Linda & Bob Jarrell purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Linda & Bob Jarrell chose Shenandoah Valley

We have traveled extensively and selected this property for its charm, location and offerings. We felt like this is a cabin that we'd enjoy staying at - and we kept that in mind throughout the process of preparing it for your stay! We want you to have a great time, be comfortable and feel well taken care of.

This cabin is the quintessential mountain home featuring cedar log siding and an amazingly peaceful, beautiful location. Built in 2009, the interior is stylish and current with decor that mirrors the season.

Located near everything, yet secluded, peaceful away from the crowds.

What makes this cabin unique

We own and manage our own property to give our guests the best experience possible. No hidden fees.

Walk to the national forest, trout fishing, historical Civil War trails. Conveniently located near many Shenandoah Valley attractions, but away from the crowds tucked into a quiet, established residential neighborhood.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The cabin is located literally two doors down from the George Washington National Forrest.

Bring your fishing gear and catch trout at Cub Run. It is located in the middle of everything you want to see. Minutes from Luray, Shenandoah, and Elkton. The cabin has an enclosed back yard that allows us to bring our schnauzers along.

Go fishing, take a canoe trip on the Shenandoah river, shop the many farmer's stores for fresh meat and vegetables, dine at the many local eateries, shop the local stores, and truly enjoy yourself. Grab some lamb sausage and cook them on the grill on the back deck while seeing every star in the sky that you can't see from the city living. Thanks Bob and Linda for creating memories for our family that we will always cherish.

Lovely get-away with friends

  • 5 of 5

This was our second VRBO experience and I regret missing the review deadline for our trip earlier this summer as both experiences were great! We appreciate being able to visit our national parks and get away to a quiet, lovely place like the Great Escape! We only had a couple days, but appreciated the downtime with old friends. The cabin is beautiful and comfortable. It was perfect for our routine of breakfasts and lunches at the cabin and making lunches for the trail. It was well stocked and we enjoyed the hot tub after an afternoon hike.

This cabin was absolutely amazing.

  • 5 of 5

"The Great Escape" was such a wonderful cabin. The cabin has so much to offer. Inside the living room has an open concept where you can watch TV and cook at the same time in the kitchen. There is a beautiful fire place. Such a cozy environment. There are two bedrooms and they are a great size! There is also 2 bathrooms. The best part was the back yard. We brought our dogs and they absolutely loved running around while we sat on the back porch and enjoyed the weather! The hot tub was wonderful as well. Great for cold nights!!! Also the cabin is close to all the national parks which made our trip even better. Overall, the stay was wonderful! I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone who is looking for a relaxing but fun time.

Beautiful, well appointed and comfortable home.

We had a wonderful time at Great Escape. It was very comfortable and a good "get away from it all" experience. Sharing the home with long time friends made it even better! We loved the hot tub and the kitchen which had anything and everything one could desire. Thank you for a delightful stay!

Relax and Enjoy

  • 5 of 5

Cozy, clean, and comfortable cabin. Morning coffee on the back deck will be your new Happy Place! So peaceful, away from the grind of the everyday hustle and bustle. Walk, (or drive) into the George Washington National Park(entrance to the park is across the street from the cabin!) and find your perfect fishing spot or next campsite if you want to rough it a little. Hiking trails, caverns, Skyline Drive, and the awesome beauty of the Shenandoah Valley are all around you. The hot tub at night perfect way to end the day. The Milky Way and all those stars are an awesome site to see either in the hot tub, on the back deck, or even just standing in the front yard.

Close enough to restaurants and groceries but far enough away to enjoy the hum of the crickets at night or the distant morning call of a rooster. With the gas grill on the deck and the fully equipped kitchen, there is really no need to go anywhere!

The mountains are calling. Can't wait to go back!!

Loved the cabin it was great. We were only there for a couple of days and it was wonderful.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin has a great front porch it would be nice to have some rocking chairs to sit in and enjoy the quiet morning. Our dogs loved the huge back yard. It was a nice place to go and unwind and enjoy the peaceful and calming area. We went to Luray caverns and the safari park in Natural VA. Thank you so much for everything.

Beautiful and rustic escape

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was beautiful and stocked with everything we needed. We were able to have a relaxing honeymoon away from the craziness of the world and the Great Escape cabin was the perfect place! Linda and Bob made sure to check in with us to see if we needed anything, which was definitely appreciated. There was a book full of suggestions of local restaurants and attractions. We really enjoyed kayaking with Shenandoah River Adventures and hiking in the National Park.
