Semi retired previous small business owner and school teacher, we live in a small town in Wisconsin. We have two Golden Retrievers and enjoy traveling to Mesa when we are able to. We absolutely love the Boulder Mountain community and hope to one day spend much more time there. Until that time, we want to share our beautiful home with others.
Barry Tomaras purchased this house in 2011
We have been traveling and vacationing in the Phoenix area for over 25 years. After renting for many years we decided to purchase a home in the area we love so much.
This is the perfect spot. Beautiful views and easy to get everywhere. In a couple minutes you are either on the highway heading for Phoenix, Scottsdale, or the southeast valley. Head the other direction and within minutes you are driving through the desert on the way to Saguaro Lake or one of the other large reservoirs. Or head the other way and go biking or hiking through the Usery Mountain Regional Park.
We have been renting in the Phoenix area for 6 or 7 years now. This area of Phoenix is by far our favorite. The location is wonderful. The area is great for bike riding. We rode our bikes from the house 3 miles to Usuary Mountain Regional Park. What a beautiful area to bike. The streets in the area all have bike lanes and traffic is light. Several very nice golf courses close by also. The back yard was wonderful for our 13 year old Golden. Huge grassy yard beautifully landscaped with a very nice fenced in pool. The house is so comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed. The owners were great to work with. Every email was answered promptly. We would love to rent this property again if it is available. The one and only downside is the cell phone service. Our carrier is Verizon, and service was very poor. However, the owners provided a land line that can be used for all calls, including long distance, so the cell phone issue was really not a big deal. LOVED this house.
March 2014 was our second time renting this lovely home for a month. We absolutely love this home and this year shared it with family who were equally enthralled and all want to return again.
You will not be disappointed when you walk into this home. The photos are accurate, in fact you will be even more impressed in person as photos can't do it justice. The house and property have always been spotless and this year we could see numerous changes and improvements (love the roll-up sunshades on the patio).
This community is alongside Usery Mountain Regional Park and from one of the many greenbelt trails within Boulder Mountain Highlands, there is a gate which allows you to enter the park where you can walk the many trails, see desert vistas and plants. March and April the desert is bursting with colourful cactus blossoms.
For the golfer, there are about 6 golf courses within 30-minute drive of the house and dozens more if you don't mind a longer drive. Your hosts have provided a binder of information about nearby activities, attractions and restaurants for your enjoyment.
Our dog gives this house four paws up as it has lots of running space, a wide pool step to wade as youcool off, and grass. Imagine, grass in the desert. It's a dog's dream house too.
We love this house so take good care of it while you are there as we want to find it just as lovely the next time we come for another month.
I stayed with my 3 kids and it was perfect for us. Nice backyard and pool. Neighborhood is quiet and safe. Tv's in each room was nice. All kitchen equipment needed was there! Home was clean upon arrival and looked better than pictures could convey!! Nice covered patio. I would recommend this home. It is a bit far out if you are looking for nightlife and that type of thing. I knew where it was located and enjoyed the privacy and quiet. Owners were very nice and easy to communicate with when any questions arised. I would stay again and recommend it to people looking for a east Mesa vacation place.
This is by far the best house in Mesa to rent and the owners were incredible to work with. They treat you like family and make your stay so welcomed. Like the other review I almost hate to say how great it was in fear I won’t be able to rent it next time. I just looked at the photos again and almost cried on how much this house looked just the pictures or even better. We all hated to leave. The backyard was awesome; we grilled every night and sat on the porch for hours looking at the stars. You can even hear the coyotes at night which was pretty cool. The kitchen had everything you need to prepare your gourmet meals or just a cup of coffee and bagel. Everything was spotless and plenty of towels for your stay. We even jumped in the pool daily. It was close to everything we wanted to do and coming home to this house made for a nice evening even better. Received a great tip from Barry and Mary Jo for the best place to purchase wine. Total Wine – it’s the home depot of wine stores. If you go plan to spend a few hours there and we even had a wine tasting. Grimaldi’s was nice and relaxing – we sat outside. Barry and Mary Jo have a book on the coffee table that gives you information for anything you might want to do in the area. We can't wait to come back to this home.
Perfect location for anyone coming for the golf! We hesitate to share how much we love this property and enjoyed our stay because we want to keep coming back each year. This home is close to anything you might want and the community is great for daily walks, inside and outside the gates. If you like the photos on the site you won't be disappointed when you walk in the door as it is everything and more than the pictures show. Barry & Mary Jo are great hosts who are helpful and respond quickly to any questions or concerns you may have about the house.
Our adult children came down for a week and there was plenty of room for four. After they left the house wasn't too big for the two of us and the dog. The kitchen is so well appointed with anything you might need that it was easy when entertaining friends also in the area.
This charming house is obviously Barry and Mary Jo's second home. Thank you so much for sharing it with us and we look forward to our stay in 2014. We are already talking about which route to take for the drive south!
We truly enjoyed our stay at Barry and Mary Jo's home. It is a lovely spacious home with all of the conveniences one would need. The Boulder Mountain Highlands subdivision is located in the most beautiful area of Mesa. The saguaro cactus growing in the surronding hills added to the beauty of the desert. With the large back yard our dogs were safe to run and play. At night we sat out on the porch and enjoyed the sunsets and the Phoenix night lights. You will enjoy how quiet and friendly the neighborhood is anytime day or night. Their information book led us to some of the best restaurants we have ever been to. Our favorites were the Good Egg and Grimaldi's. We highly recommend this property to stay at. We will definitely be going back.
