This property is ideal for quietly enjoying nature.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This was our 3rd time staying here and we had great wildlife adventures! The home is cozy, clean, and welcoming with great amenities. The location cannot be beat- within driving distance to great shopping, fantastic people watching, great restaurants, and 2 of the best beaches in the area.

Because the property is adjacent to a land trust preserve we were serenaded by a pack of coyotes in the night! We were greeted by wild turkeys for morning coffee and tea. And best of all the reading light is terrific! Bring your walking shoes, shopping bags, beach blankets, and good books.

An excellent choice. Less than 2 hours north of Boston.

  • 5 of 5

This cozy and quiet cottage, located in the woods between Kennebunk and Kennebunkport, is an ideal spot for an exploration of all that Southern Maine has to offer: great beaches, a variety of shopping options, fine dining and lovely scenery. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped, and the Wi-Fi works well. Leo is a very co-operative and helpful host, available at all times (via telephone) to answer questions and make suggestions.

Strongly recommended!

best of both worlds, great place

  • 5 of 5

loved the location there was opportunity for staying on the beaches, but also convenient to shopping, hiking and historical sites. The house is bright and welcoming. We enjoyed our morning coffee while hearing song birds, then spent day at the beach. We'll be back!

What a great stay!

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful place to stay- clean and cozy, very convenient to the beaches and Kennebunkport, equipped with everything you need. It is also in a beautiful wooded lot set back from the road, so we felt completely relaxed at night and couldn't hear any noise from neighbors or cars. The owner was responsive to all our questions and left very helpful information about the area (that is how we discovered the delicious steak and cheese subs made down the street, and the best lobster roll we've ever had...) Thanks so much for a great stay!

Access to really good coffee & shopping!

  • 4 of 5

We took a quick trip to ME to relax, eat and shop. It was perfect! We discovered Mabel's for seafood, Mornings in Paris for coffee & pastries, and many shops with great pre-season sales in Kennebunkport which is just a short drive away. This house was the perfect place to stage day trips from. The beds were comfortable and we got great sleep. And we even spent many hours on the beaches enjoying the sun and watching surfers. I can't wait to go back!

Hidden Gem

  • 5 of 5

There was still snow on the ground in April this year, but the house was warm and inviting. The living area is cozy and perfect for reading, playing board games, and even watching movies. This small cape is ideal for 1-4 adults to spend a quiet and relaxing time together. Easy access by car to great coffee, food, and beaches, especially in the shoulder and off seasons.

I'd choose this location again for it's privacy and convenience. The kitchen was fully equipped for us to prepare fantastic meals to cut costs. This is really a "home away from home."

Quiet, calm, renoved but won't return!

  • 2 of 5

Pro's :

Kennebunk Port is a nice place and less commercial than other places around.

Newly renovated cottage.

Well equipped cottage and kitchen.

Fairly quiet and 5 minutes drive to the beaches.

Con's :

Maybe not the best bang for your buck.

Very small dining room space and table. So not suited for diner with few people.

Neglected courtyard (No grass, no patio). Not suited to spend some time outside or have a cocktail at the end of the day. Not much to do in the courtyard except to feed mosquitoes (But there a gazebo to spend evening inside).

Unpleasant smells in the house.

After our trip, the check for deposit first bounced and incomplete after.

Be ready to received unexpected overcharges.

Garbage and recycling services are excluded from the deal.

Complicated methodology by mail to get the key to be improved and was adding stress to our trip.

We will return to Kennebunk Port anytime but not this cottage.

Owner's Response: It's unfortunate that your review is so negative and contradictory to your hand written note you left in the guest book at the house. You followed through on your threat to write a negative review for me not returning your entire security deposit. Your bad smell was form the ruined urine soaked rug I had to throw out. I also had to clean up your trash. My wife and I were there when you showed up 3 hours early with 5 people, not the 3 that we had contracted for. I had made an exception for allowing a child. This is my reward. In retrospect I should have told you to leave. We made certain the house was clean. I can assure you that neither she or I urinated on the rug which you called about mid week. Your innuendo about monies returned being complicated is an issue with you and your bank. If your bank charges you a fee for a check from the US and you don't like it find another bank. It's curious that this was your first visit to the area and you're able to make value statements. We researched rental rates in the area and made ours consistent with others. It's also unfortunate Home Away doesn't have a reciprocal format for owners to rate "travelers". Most owners I've met have worked hard at providing the kind of quality experience you wrote about in the guest book. The one accuracy of your review is that you will not return.
