Charming, designer renovated one level condo in the heart of historic Cathedral Hill district. Walking distance to Excel Energy Center, Antique Shops, Restaurants, Museums, Historical Center, Garrison Keller's Bookstore, Fitness Center and Coffee Shops.
Large trellis covered patio overlooking the historic Blair House is perfect for entertaining, grilling or relaxing with a glass of wine.
I am a semi-retired interior designer and enjoy all aspects of creating lovely surroundings. I have children and grandchildren in my neighborhood and we all enjoy this area. I enjoy meeting people and I believe I am friendly and easy going.
Lois Johnson purchased this house in 1997
I have always enjoyed turn of the century architecture and seeing wonderful structures renovated and brought back to their original grandeur.
You will be within walking distance of wonderful shops, fine restaurants, downtown St. Paul, fitness center, coffee shops, bookstores. Strolling down beautiful Summit Avenue (blocks of lovely Victorian homes) is a lovely way to end the day.
The condo is charming. We enjoyed the wam weather as we sat on the private back deck and ate our breakfast in the lovely sunroom. The living room was very comfortable. It did not take long to feel at home. A slight challenge was parking a larger vehicle. We were able to park in the driveway but it is a tight squeeze. On street parking is available but not always directly in front of the unit. Having said this, I would not hesitate to return. The condo was in a fabulous location. It was easy to get to from the highway and easy to go to the outlet malls and mall of America. There are endless fabulous restaurants one street over and it is an easy walk to Xcel Centre. St. Paul Cathedral is breathtaking. The area felt safe. Don't hesitate, book it!
The home was clean, and very well furnished. The location is great. A number of very popular restaurants, pubs and shops are within a short walk. Even when it is cold. Check out the Happy Gnome and Solo Vino (wine shop). We had a terrific stay. Parking is tight so you may have to park on the street (for us was not a problem) if you have a large SUV.
Charming, comfortable, clean, relaxing, we had a wonderful time at this HomeAway property. I would rent this location again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a retreat weekend.
It is decorated beautifully and has a warm and welcoming feel. The neighborhood is conveniently located near many restaurants and coffee shops as well as down the street from the beautiful St. Paul cathedral, which is a great landmark to find your way home. We walked to downtown St. Paul and kept the vehicle in the driveway... It was quite a hike to go that far. The beds were very comfy and it was very quiet. We had good enough weather that we sat on the deck in the back one evening. We loved the deck and the sunroom! The only tricky thing was the shower where there's a fine line between hot (ouch!) and cold (brrr!), tiny movements of the handle and you could get a nice temp. I Finally learned that on my 3rd day there. Both of us agree we'd love to stay at the Lois Johnson again on future St. Paul visits!
We had a great stay here. Cathedral Hill neighbourhood is beautiful with lots of great restaurants, a busy coffee shop around the corner, and fun places to have a drink. We attended a concert at the Xcel Energy Centre and it was just a short walk from home. The beds are comfy and the house is very well appointed. We would definitely recommend this place to our friends.
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Lois's condo which is located on Historic Cathedral Hill. The home is so very well decorated - we were amazed at all of the fun items all around the home. It was incredibly warm and inviting, not to mention clean and well stocked. It was a pleasure to be able to walk to so many wonderful restaurants in the area as well as enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the dining room table. A superb location and great host - thanks for a wonderful stay.
