About Lois Johnson
I am a semi-retired interior designer and enjoy all aspects of creating lovely surroundings. I have children and grandchildren in my neighborhood and we all enjoy this area. I enjoy meeting people and I believe I am friendly and accessible to answer questions or take care of your stay.
Lois Johnson purchased this House in 1997
Why Lois Johnson chose West Side
I have always enjoyed turn of the century architecture and seeing wonderful structures renovated and brought back to their original grandeur, and Catherdral Hill is a lovely example of that. This property is easily accessible to freeways, , light rail, metro bus service, etc. I believe you will enjoy all the condo has to offer.
What makes this House unique
You will be within walking distance of wonderful shops, fine restaurants, downtown St. Paul, fitness center, coffee shops, bookstores. Strolling down beautiful Summit Avenue (blocks of lovely Victorian homes) is a lovely way to end the day. Access to Intetstate 94 (3 blocks) or a 20 minute walk to our new light rail is easy and quick.

Favorite place in Cathedral Hill
I have been staying at The Johnson House multiple times in the last 5 years. I highly recommend the neighborhood/location. Nina's Coffee is a block away, several wonderful restaurantslike W.A. Frost, Moscow on the Hill, Red Cow, La Grolla, all within walking distance. There is a small market is down the street and a Coop not far away. Easy access to the Interstate. Love it!
Awesome! We'll stay here again!
Beautiful property, perfect location and very well appointed!
Recent stay in St Paul area
We had a very nice time while staying in the Johnson House recently. The well furnished home is located in a nice neighborhood and was perfect for our family, at a reasonable price. Very welcoming, comfortable and clean. Location was great - within walking distance of many fine restaurants and other interesting sites to see. We brought our small family dog along and she also enjoyed the many amenities provided. Will certainly try to stay here again next time we visit the Minneapolis-St Paul area.
Inviting, warm, close to everything in Cathedral Hill.
I loved this apartment! It was perfect for a few nights and close to everything. I highly recommend this spot...and I have stayed in many rentals while traveling.
Thank you for your review. Come visit again.
Gorgeous house, incredible location!
We really enjoyed staying at the Johnson House. Lois really thought of everything and made sure we had everything we needed. The house is lovely, and very comfortable, including having access to so many restaurants, shops, and more. The location made it easy to get everywhere we needed to in the MSP area.
The kitchen was very well organized and we felt very comfortable. My kids loved the sun room and playing chess in the morning light. They also really enjoyed having a yard to play in.
My suggestions for improvements: The main bedroom was cramped and the bed, while very comfortable, was too high for many to get into, and really wiggly. We ended up sleeping in separate beds because one small movement would wake the other person. Also, the doors on the closet mixed with the 4 poster bed were tough to get around.
Thank you for visiting the Johnson House. The bedrooms are small since the house is over 100 years and apparently large bedrooms were not done back then.
I will check the bed and make that correction—sorry about that. It’s important for me to know my guests have a good nights sleep.
