TRANSPORTATION- Free Trolley and buses run day and night to Laguna’s down town artistic community with fun night life, live music, restaurants, and various seasonal events. Free trolley and bus stop 5-10 walk, down the hill. Cabs, approx. $3-5.00 to all Laguna locations. Best not to drive, to avoid crowds, and $$ parking, especially during special events and holidays. Unit is a 10 minute walk, to Montage Resort Beaches and Coves. People walk, bike, and jog, skate board, to these locations every day. However, walking is not suggested for small children, strollers, or anyone who has problems walking. . If you’re not into walking, there are six different parking options, for these beaches, and even valet, if you prefer. And if you are going to the Montage Resort Spa, dinning, events, etc., they can also arrange for transportation from unit.

All beaches and coves, right below, are part of the Laguna Conservatory and Protected Marine Reserves that are the most beautiful and pristine Beaches, Coves, in Laguna. This area also offers multiple restaurants, for casual and fine dining, great food delivery, bars, lounges, yoga studio, vet, grocery store, CVS, downtown trolley,

SPRING/SUMMER/FALL/HOLIDAYS -Laguna offers a wide variety of fun for all, with some of the best beaches and coves in the world. Laguna, historically an artist community, has over 20 art galleries, and museums, and is the home of the World-Renowned Pageant of the Masters, set in a beautiful outdoor arena, where famous works of art come to life. We have Summer and Winter Sawdust Art festivals, and many options for casual and fine dining, lounges, and bars with great live music. Other attractions include, the Laguna Playhouse, Concerts, Music Festivals, July 4th Fireworks, Film Festival, Parades, Outdoor Markets, and Art Walks, that are held the 1st Thursday of every month. Art classes, yoga, cooking, fitness, swimming, writing, dancing classes etc. are also available, all over town, all year long, with local gyms, and many spas and salons. Laguna’s climate is approx. 70-80 degrees the majority of the year, and is well known throughout the world, as California’s Riviera.

DECEMBER AND NEW YEARS - Laguna comes to life with lights and the Winter Art Festival. Newport and Dana Point Historic Lighted Boat Parades, and New Year’s celebrations. One of my favorites is the Montage Resort Lounge party, with a class crowd, great band, music and dancing, all at N/C, cocktails not included. There are also paid dinning events, concerts with top musicians, casual and fine dining options throughout the year. The Montage will also provide transportation for pick up and drop off. Other New Year’s celebrations, concerts and special events are held at the other local 5 star resorts, St. Regis, Ritz Carlton, Newport Coast, the Coach House, and various local Restaurants, bars and lounges.

CLEANING/LAUNDRY/PETS, - Cleaning/ Laundry services are available. Rates, exit cleaning/linens, security deposit are based on # of occupants, pets, and time period. Pets are welcomed, with extra fee.

Unit can sleep up to 5 for shorter terms.

About Marie L Titolo

I was born in Los Angeles, grew up in Huntington Beach, aka Surf City USA, and spent most of the time in the ocean. We used to bike from Huntington Beach to Laguna in the 70's, approx. 25 miles each way. One of our favorite places was the Treasure Island Trailer Park Coves, Laguna's State Conservatory and Protected Marine Reserves, now the home of the Laguna Beach 5 Star Montage Resort. We would sneak in, explore the tide pools, Body Surf all day, and then ride back. It has always been one of my favorite places, even more beautiful now, then before.

Therefore, in 1991, when it came time for me to purchase a home, it did not take long for me to decide on the perfect location.

As after spending years traveling in Europe, most of the time on the French and Italian Riviera, and Amalfi Coast, for biz and pleasure. I knew I would have the best of both worlds, in Laguna: aka California’s Riviera and Amalfi Coast. Appropriately, Laguna is the sister city to Menton, France, that boarders Monaco, in the Cote d' Azur, and the Italian Amalfi coast. However, based on my experience, Laguna Beaches are even MORE beautiful.

I have been a world traveler for many years, as my travel bug started with a Political Science study program abroad in 1978.

I visited 10 countries, including the USSR, as a special guest. I continued to travel for the next ten years for work and study. In the late 80's, I established a Trade Show and Exhibit corporation. And for 14 years, I worked with companies all over the world, and traveled extensively throughout the US, Europe and Asia. I rented many villas in France and Italy, entertained guests from all walks of life, and I know what a traveler looks for.

I have many friends, and love people from all over the world, and I look forward to hearing from you, and welcoming you as my guest.

Our summer vacations have always been on the beaches of Southern California. In 10 years we've never gone back to the same place, until now. We've already decided to stay there next year. There's so much to do we were not able to do everything Laguna had to offer during our stay. Between the shopping and the Sawdust Festival we kept very busy. I can't wait till next year to see The Pageant of the Masters, I've heard so much about it. Although we were very busy everyday we mostly looked forward to our outside romantic dinners, and the spectacular sunsets every night. And coming home to this unit, and area, was very comfortable and relaxing. To all who read this review, I give it a 5 Star. There is something for everyone day and night, the beaches are incredible, and Marie was great!

So happy to be returning to Marie's place

My husband and I and Mambo our Labrador are so looking forward to returning to Marie's for another 5 week stay this January and February. Marie is a delight and this year with some suggestions we made about making the kitchen space more user-friendly she completely renovated the area and it looks great!! So now a wonderful new kitchen and still spectacular views of the Pacific ocean and Catalina island.

Wonderful place to stay!

My wife and I stayed with Marie for 3 months while I was working in Southern California for the summer. The unit is very nice and clean and has views of the ocean. Marie was always helpful and very responsive. We were there for a long time, so we had to communicate with her a lot. She was always available and worked hard to take care of our needs. It was a nearly perfect situation.

As with any experience, there can always be mild inconveniences. Be aware that the kitchenette does not have a sink, which makes doing any kind of dishes difficult. Additionally, we ran into a small ant and spider (mostly daddy long legs) problem around July. It was so minor that we dealt with it ourselves and didn't even bother Marie about it, but I'm sure she would have handled it had we reached out.

We knew what we were getting into because we are familiar with Laguna Beach, but for those not familiar, this is an area full of VERY steep hills. Although you can see the ocean from the property, you would not want to plan on walking to and from the beach. However, it is easy to find a parking spot near Victoria Beach if you park on Nye's Place. It was super easy to jump in the car, park down the hill, and be at the beach in 5 minutes.

All in all, I highly recommend staying at Marie's place. Laguna Beach is a great town and Marie is a great host.

Marie For those of you who don’t know Laguna: Laguna is an artistic beach community that is nestled in between wilderness canyons, and peaks, and valleys. I am 200 yards from one of these wilderness areas, and 500 ft. up a short hill from the ocean. These guest had two dogs, and I believe the ant problem may have been due to the heat and the pet food, as they invaded all of mine. And "daddy long legs" are just little spiders with long legs, that usually hang out in the trees; a minor issue. Ant traps were also in supply drawer in the unit. If I was informed of this problem, I would have gladly helped to take care of it. The kitchenette works very well for most who do not cook big meals daily. There is a large sink outside next to the bbq and dining area that most people use for large meals. I did not see these quests use this cooking area. And there are two sinks in the master bath, disk rack, and disposable dinning supplies for everyday use. There are also nine restaurant options minutes below, and great food delivery. The hills are steep, but people still walk, bike, and skateboard up and down them every day. I have friends over sixty, three times their age who walk to downtown and back in a little over an hour. As walking is the best way to see and experience the charm and spectacular views of Laguna. The most beautiful beaches in Laguna are minutes away. With many options for parking; meter street parking, underground, Montage Resort parking, valet and even pu when you use their amenities. In addition, I have been noted as "one of the best deals in Laguna" and my unit in this location with all it offers, is a bargain.

Spectacular views in hills of Laguna

My husband and I and our Labrador returned for another season at Marie's. At our suggestion from the previous stay in 2016 Marie did a major renovation of the kitchenette that looks great and was much more user-friendly. And the views of the Pacific and Catalina Island from the windows remains spectacular! Marie goes out of her way to make her guests feel welcome.

Not a safe walk to the beach, deposit issues

We booked this unit during a summer holiday and were hopeful to walk the kids to the beach and to restaurants without having to worry about parking downtown, etc.

The owner was very responsive during the booking process and the unit was clean. It sits below the owner’s main residence but does still have a view of the ocean from some parts of the unit/yard.

Despite this location’s close proximity to the ocean and the city transportation offered, there is not a path/sidewalk down the windy hill for pedestrians, making it an unsafe walk to the PCH, especially with kids or a stroller. The walk back up would be a steep incline and again there is the issue of the windy road and the local drivers passing by constantly. This was a huge disappointment for my family (which includes two young children) since we ended up having to drive everywhere and deal with hectic Southern California beach parking.

The kitchenette appears to be remodeled since our stay, so I will omit my comments on that subject. We ended up paying holiday rates to stay at a hotel during one of the nights we were there to get the beach experience we had hoped for. Then when everything was all over we ended up in a dispute with the owner over our deposit, which was never resolved (we gave up and moved on with our lives). So if you do end up renting this unit I would recommend making sure all the fees, costs, and terms of the deposit are in writing and clear before hand. Follow up communication with the owner since our stay has not been pleasant or professional.

Owner's Response: I was never made aware of any dispute or problem, until a review was posted 8 months later. My last correspondence from this guest thanked me, and provided me with a third address, within a 2 1/2 wk period. Her security deposit was returned 10 days later, well within VRA TERMS. Her issues seemed to have been with HOMEAWAY booking and CC processing fees. I do not determine these fees. And as stated on my listing, and on VRA, these are the clients responsibilitiy. She just failed to read them. My listing location is provided for by street, map, 3D and Aerial views. The road to the beach is a short one. But it is not right for anyone who has problems walking., or too much to handle. However many people walk, run, jog, bike, skateboard on this short hill, every day, weather permitting. This was a mother of a 2 and 5 year old, with a stroller and a dog. She was left here most of the time alone without a car. The common sense thing for her to have done was to call for a $2-3 cab. If she had a car, there are 7 parking areas for this location. And south Laguna has a lot more parking and allot less crowds than downtown area. Downtown Parking is expensive, and all hotels charge parking fees. Valet is free at the Montage. if you lunch, dine, drink or have a spa treatment. The majority of streets in Laguna do not have sidewalks. The Montage is the only hotel on waterfront in the Laguna Conservatory and Marine Reserve Area that is below me. The Montage rates during this time for 1 room approx 250qf for 2 per is approx $1600 per night, plus tax, and resort fees. The suites go up front there starting at approx $3500 on up per night. My suggestion, for the ease of acess required, in a case like this, is that they book the Montage Laguna Resort for any furture stays in Laguna. Furthermore, I use a California RE VACATION RENTAL AGREEMENT, and my listing is detailed and comprehensive. One only needs to review these docs. to understand all. No follow up or contact was made from this clent regarding ANY "issues" after her stay.

Fabulous escape!

If you are looking for a serene, hideway with a comfortable European feel, DON'T MISS THIS EXQUISITE location! (You will be tucked away from it all at the top of a mountain overlooking the Pacific Ocean and The Montage Hotel). If you need to clear your thoughts and quiet your mind this is for you. I've stayed in this lovely home several times over the past few years and look forward to returning soon! The European ambiance, solitude and privacy reminds me of many private villas in France and italy that I've visited with my husband over the past several years. I enjoy the neighborhood, walking up and down the hill everyday for exercise and never, ever miss the sunset. (For walkers, climbers and hiking enthusiasts this is a perfect workout for

you)! Marie, who's the owner is ready and capable to take care of your every need. When my husband was ill, she offered to make him a gourmet meal. And, he loved it! She's a great cook and eager to please her guests. We always felt at home and welcomed. Jerry loved going to Marie's and could hardly wait to return. It made us feel like we were in Europe, but, much closer to home. Wonderful memories have been created at this location for myself and family. In fact, there is enough room in the 'living room area' for my young male son to have his own private quarters. It's perfect for a family of three or even four....Enjoy walking on the white sandy beach, the ocean breezes, fresh fish in the local restaurants and various activities in town. There is always something happening in Laguna Beach. And, you can curl up on the couch and read a book or write a book! Whatever your interests may be this a perfect destination to enhance your life! Enjoy!
