Overview

Hamakua Coast Cottage Rental Photos and Description

One bedroom spacious cottage, quiet and serene in front of a lily pond.

The cottage has one spacious bedroom with sitting area, a country style kitchen area, a dining room and a bathroom.

The bedroom itself is about 300 sq ft with a queen size bed, a pull out couch, a small table and chairs, and a TV & DVD player to enjoy a movie after a day of exploring. There is also wireless and cable internet in the room.

Rainbow Bee Farm Cottage is converted from the tour/education building of our once active honey farm where for the past 20 years we produced a world famous gourmet honey - Rare Hawaiian Organic White Honey. (We recently retired from and sold the honey business.)

If you so desire, Richard ( 30 years a professional beekeeper) can provide you a 2 hour tour experiencing the workings inside a living beehive. Right out side your room. ($60 per couple)

The Rainbow Bee Farm Cottage was amazing!

  • 5 of 5

We worked with Sandy Watkins, S.O.S Travel at http://sostravel.paycation.com who in a stunningly efficient, complete and detailed manner planned our trip. Sandy Watkins communicated with Candice at Rainbow Bee Farm Cottage and set up the reservation. The communication between us all was clear, concise and detailed.

The cottage was as represented on the website and other places. We arrived after our long flights and Candice and Richard met us - showed us around and explained everything in detail - backed up by a full notebook should we have questions. We immediately felt at home and were really pleased, happy and excited with the set up…

My daughter and I stayed 13 days at the Rainbow Bee Farm Cottage and it was perfect. We had everything we needed - the location and facility was very clean, well set up, organized and included a beautiful spacious view - ocean, pond with birds, frogs, lily pads and stars from a lovely deck.

Richard gave us an extremely informative discussion and demonstration of bee colony behavior and hive management. It was truly an education beyond my expectations - he is an educated, extremely experienced and ethical beekeeper...

Our vacation was memorable - next time we visit the big island we will stay at the Rainbow Bee Farm Cottage.

Staying with friends

  • 4 of 5

When we arrived and met Richard and Candice, we felt right at home. We had never been to the big island and quite honestly didn't know much about it. The bee farm is right in the middle so you can go either way. It was refreshing to be out of town, quiet and peaceful. The cottage was as large as our condo with everything except a T.V. (which was great). The cottage was spotless , with more than we expected, coffee, sugar ,tea ect. Richard took a couple hours out of his busy day to take me around and show me the large variety of trees he is growing, a very interesting and knowledgeable man. If and when we get back to Hawaii we will be staying at the bee farm cottage. It will be like visiting old friends Thank You Don And Marty

Great stay

  • 5 of 5

Candice and Richard were great hosts. Excellent location just east of Waimea.

Very cozy accommodation. I guess I lucked out with the weather with hardly any rain. But it's only 15 minutes to the dry side if and when it ever rains. It's a great in between spot for exploring either side of the Island. Thanks for everything Candice and Richard.

Perfect spot to begin our big island trip

  • 5 of 5

The property is beautiful and the cabin itself is spacious - we loved the kitchen in particular since we wanted to eat in as much as possible. We saw so many stars off the deck at night! Candice & Richard were phenomenal hosts and gave us lots of tips for our exploration of the island. We will certainly come back and recommend to friends. Thank you!

Hidden Gem

  • 5 of 5

My stay: 3 night in late January 2016

I am so glad I stumbled across this cottage on the website. It is a true hidden gem tucked away in the beautiful country side.

The owners Richard and Candice are simply wonderful, they are so welcoming and a pleasure to talk too.

The cottage is clean, spacious and charming. The grounds are quiet and very peaceful. The nights get a bit cold but there is a small gas fireplace and an electric heater that can keep the interior very comfortable. There was a full sized refrigerator and a functional kitchen with cookware and cutlery (and a wine opener), I think there was some basic seasoning too. Although I didn't cook anything it looks like you could cook some nice meals. There was a TV but i never turned it on, the view of the evening sky was much nicer. There is a nice porch right outside the bedroom that is perfect for stargazing while sipping on some wine or enjoying the morning sky.

The wifi was a little slow but fast enough to listen to Pandora after a little buffering.

The property is located about 10 min up the road after turning off of Mamalahoa hwy, but I drive a little slow. (Had nothing to do with the cottage but my AT&T reception was very poor, even down in Honokaa town)

The road does get very dark at night so it is recommended to arrive before it gets dark on the first night. But the directions from Candice was very good.

Overall, I had a peaceful and wonderful stay. I would very much recommend this cottage and I would not hesitate to stay here again if I was in the area.
