About Peter Tulloch

Our family has been enjoying summers in Nantucket since the early '70s. We initially rented in 'Sconset but wanted to be 'on the water' where we could moor our boat and our two young boys would be able to swim, sail and row safely. We found this wonderful location in Pocomo and bought what was then a single story Nantucket cottage. We have since renovated our home adding a second story initially and then, more recently expanding out over the garage. Our boys are grown now with families of their own and they all continue to come to Nantucket, not only in the summer but also after Christmas through the New Year. It has been a special part of all of our lives, a place where we've all made life long friends and continue to share many happy memories.

Peter Tulloch purchased this house in 2004

What makes this house unique

Pocomo is located on the north-eastern end of Nantucket Harbor. When we first bought here, there were a number of summer cottages - many owned by local Nantucketers who came from Town to enjoy the fishing, boating and quiet beaches. Over the last decade, Pocomo has been 'discovered' and there has been a great deal of development up and down Pocomo Road. Fortunately, however, most of the houses cannot be seen from the road and there is still an open, country-like feel to the area. The scenery and quiet pace are what has attracted so many here, far from the noise, traffic and bustling crowds of Town.

average rating of 5.0 based on 6 reviews

A great place for our family gathering.

  • 5 of 5

Like many families our three adult children and their spouses are in different sthan us. We used Nantucket and the Homeport location as a place where we could all gather for a week to be together. The house was great for the seven adults and one infant. Everyone had more than enough room to be together and if needed be in a quiet location.

I have no negatives but there are many positives?

- The description of the home in the Homeaway listing was spot on. There were no surprises

- the pool was a central gathering place and very enjoyable

- we cooked almost all of own meals and the kitchen was well stocked with the needed pans and knives

- It was a short walk to the water and I wished we had gone there more.

- A great view from the deck to just relax and do nothing

- A short drive to Great Point with the correct car for wonderful fishing. One trip out there we had a great lobster boil and picnic. We had brought our own lobster pot for this.

- It is pretty convenient to the stores.

- has a large basement with ping pong table which was a lot of fun

- if you like biking, it is very near to all the trails on that end of the island

- It was a great getaway from everything. There was almost no TV watching during the week

The owner lives in the area and stopped by to show us things and answer any questions. After that, he kept a very low profile.

When I asked my kids at the end of the vacation what they thought, they all loved it and if we were to go back to Nantucket would consider staying there again. I would also recommend this house to friends

Perfect Nantucket retreat

  • 5 of 5

The house is as wonderful as pictured. Very newly constructed and clean nice furnishings. Wonderful back deck and of course the pool -- that really made a difference being able to swim after the beach and to have the kids play. There is a pool alarm on the back doors which gives peace of mind with small children. We always had the Sonos music system playing and Peter has plenty of board games too for family game night.

It's a well stocked kitchen too and plenty of room for my family of 8. The basement with the ping pong table was a great surprise. The house is impeccable, the walk thru the yard to the beach was lovely and the view from the upstairs deck of the water was the best spot for morning coffee. You'll need a car to go into town but it's easy to get around to all the nearby beaches and town and go back to your hidden private oasis. We really enjoyed our stay and Peter, the owner is lovely and was there in a minute to let us in when we locked ourselves out. A very good rental experience.

Very private luxury rental

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful home with lots of space on three floors. Salt water heated pool with great views of Nantucket Bay from the back side of the home. There is significant porch and deck space from both the first and second floor. Great for families of up to eight members

This home easily qualifies as a high level luxury rental. The owner and his property manager were very helpful.

First rate! Better than I ever imagined!

  • 5 of 5

Every detail of this house was fantastic. Clean as a whistle. Beautiful décor. Appliances were first rate. Location was perfect. Pool, sound system, beautiful dishes and cookware, games and puzzles - they thought of everything! Our family of 7 adults and baby all had plenty of space with separate bathrooms for all.

Wonderful Nantucket Home

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay in Nantucket at this wonderful home. House is clean and like new. Pool is great for the kids. Beach is the bay and is great for walks but not so much for swimming. We rode our bikes to other beaches for playing in the waves and rented a jeep to go to the further ones. The owner was fantastic to deal with and made our stay very comfortable. We would love to go back.

Homeport is a 5 star vacation rental

  • 5 of 5

We traveled with two families to Nantucket for a summer vacation. Homeport is quietly situated on its own and very private. The property was immaculate. The landscape was very well maintained and the pool an extra bonus. You will need to rent a car to get to and from town. (In our case, 2 cars) The home is equipped with everything you would need from towels to everything gourmet in the kitchen. We did spend many evenings out but also made breakfast and a few dinners at the home. The owner came to meet us on arrival and introduced himself and told us to contact him for anything we needed. (we did not have to contact him at all)

The activities we enjoyed were going to the many beaches on the island, took a boat tour, attended a movie, ate dinner at many great restaurants, shopping, rented bikes, and just plain enjoyed the beauty of Nantucket. We would recommend this home to families with children and couples. We had a great time and made some amazing memories on our summer vacation to Nantucket.
