Located above Kailua Kona, on the slopes of Hualalai, this unique 1200 sq foot cottage
is just the place to enjoy your Big Island adventure.
Conveniently located just minutes from Kona Airport, Costco, and Kailua Kona Town, you won't miss a beat. Great activities, beaches and dining located just 5 - 6 miles away.
Cool elevation and lush foliage surround you in this peaceful
3 acre property. It is not unusual that the temperature is 15 degrees cooler than Kailua Kona. During the cooler season , enjoy the warmth of your own electric fireplace with a simple click of the remote.
Nature lovers will enjoy the abundant variety of plants and birds that surround the area. Mornings greet you with clean crisp air that is not affected by the VOG that sometimes is seen in town.
Kona has a great open market that offers a variety of exotic fresh fruits and vegetables, and traditional ones as well, that are grown locally, and at a fraction of the price found in the grocery stores.
For our friends with limited mobility, the single level cottage is perfect. Park in front of your front door and enter the cottage. No parking lots or parking fees.
The cottage design is simple and open. A king sized bed and a queen sized bed will provide lots of room for a couple or a family. Keywords: Guest House/ Cottage, 1200 sq feet, Cool, Mountain Location
I had meant to write to you guys after we left the big island but time
got away from me... just wanted to say how happy we are to have met
you two and what a wonderful time we had at the cottage! Thank you so
much for your hospitality and for hanging with us! Hope to see you
I consider myself very experienced with vacation rentals and am meticulous with due diligence when contemplating where I'm going to stay. I find that spending adequate time on the front side always pays off. This unit didn't disappoint. I stayed here solo for four nights in March 2017. It was more than adequate for my needs. It was spotless and large. It is basically a very large studio, all one room, plus the bathroom. While there are two beds, they are not separated by any walls so you'll need to be related or very friendly with the occupant of the other bed. There is very good water pressure, and hot water is served up via on-demand system. There is a washing machine and clothesline outside. My clothes dried ok on the line, though the rain can interrupt. The wifi worked well, decent speed with no connection issues.
This unit is about fifteen minutes away from Ali street. If you are planning on spending the bulk of your time down there, this may not be the right rental. Parking is terrible and can be expensive downtown. If you're looking for a quiet unit away from the chaos and convenient to the sights around Kona, this is a good choice. There is a Walmart about ten minutes away where you can get basic food items, sunscreen, and beach accessories. (Bamboo beach mats $2.27!!) Costco as well.
The owners live next door, but it's not close so there is privacy. I never saw them or even met them. There is some road noise and millions of frogs and assorted creatures making a LOT of noise at night but I prefer that to human noises anyway. If you are going to spend a week on the big island, I would spend 4 nights near Kona and 3 nights on the Hilo side. It's a long drive to get from one side to the other, and there is stuff to see and do on both sides.
Fabulous place with very thoughtful host n hostess. Will visit again! Check for staples here like rice n spices before you do any grocery shopping!
Cute little cottage, in the woods, lovely nature sounds! Secluded area of our own on owners property. Big open space with very comfortable beds!! WiFi was excellent. Bathroom is big and shower is wonderful with continuous running hot water!! Host is awesome, and didn't make me do laundry of all the towels, thank you!! It was extremely clean and welcoming!!! Would love to stay here again, anytime I'm here on the big island!!! Thank you!!
A review so far from the truth we experienced, needs clarification. We have stayed here two years in a row. We will be returning later this year for our third visit. Never have either my wife nor I experienced Mildew, Mold nor a Musky odor. On the contrary, on arrival we find the screened windows flung open, allowing in the fresh cooling Hawaiian breezes, the unit to be spotlessly clean without sign of mold, and with bedding a generous supply of towels and linen smelling as clean and fresh as expected. We're already looking forward to our third stay with the full knowledge the unit will be exactly as described.
One large square area with beds, stained-soiled fabric sofas, TV, dinning table, with a bath-shower room. Surrounded by foliage. Room and linen smelled mildewy, moldy, and musky.
We had a fabulous stay at the cottage. It's so quiet and peaceful yet minutes from town. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We enjoyed the beautiful surroundings while relaxing on the porch. We'll miss eating mountain apples fresh off the tree. Looking forward to a return stay! Mahalo nui loa!
