Property was as advertised.

This was our first time using vrbo so I didn't know what to expect. The cabin was as advertised. It was spacious, comfortable, and cozy. The upstairs is large and has a very good heater that quickly heats that floor. The downstairs is cold, and as long as you know how to use a wood stove it warms up quickly. If you don't know how to use a wood stove, instructions are in the initial paperwork and I suggest, as the initial paperwork says, get starter logs to get it started. The rest of the instructions given covered all of our other questions. I had no surprises. Over all we loved it, it was quiet, private, and exactly what we needed. We appreciated the pictures, info, and honest reviews. If you liked what you read and saw there, you will love this place.

The cabin was lovely and as described. Pros: the location is private and backs up to forest. There is truly the feeling of getting away. The only con is simply that without lighting the wood stove downstairs it was too cold for anyone to stay down there. We tried to follow the instructions but the wood stove only produced smoke. The upstairs has two heaters and they do a great job of keeping the second floor warm and cozy. I’d highly recommend this location for anyone who wants to get away, or in our case, any hunters or outdoorsmen/women. We loved our stay!

Rustic but Cozy

  • 3 of 5

Loved the location of this little cabin. Tucked back into the woods, quite private (although there are neighbors relatively nearby). The kitchen was adequate, although I really wish there was a dishwasher! Doing dishes by hand on "vacation" for a large group is a lot!

The beds and furniture were pretty comfortable, although the mattresses were a bit saggy. We really enjoyed the fire pit!

The one major drawback were the flies. I'm not sure what happened with this property before we got there, but there were at least 100 flies buzzing around when we arrived. We used a vacuum to suck them up off the windows - there were that many! We were killing flies all weekend, but they just kept coming. Perhaps have the cleaning company take a closer look?

good getaway

  • 3 of 5

The cabin is sufficient for a get away. We enjoyed the large kitchen table not only for meals but games also. The beds are comfortable, the showers are hot. The cabin was clean. Although there is a dehumidifier running downstairs the downstairs is musty smelling. Is a great location, the view is beautiful out the front glass doors.

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This is a great location to stay for any couples retreat. It has enough privacy for a group to escape for the weekend, while being a manageable distance from stores in town. There are plenty of games in the house to entertain oneself and the sleeping situation worked out great even with my large group of 10. I would highly recommend any group to stay here.

Guestbook comments from the manager

I wanted to let you know that we really enjoyed our stay at the cabin on Trout Lane. It was spacious and clean and we were all very impressed. Some of us really missed our cell phone and 3G connections, but the atmosphere was worth the sacrifice! We will definitely be back around the same time next year.

Thank you very much!
