Located on the Toccoa River, this 5 acre estate has 200 feet of frontage on the Toccoa River and 1200 feet of Hothouse Creek Frontage. The house is designed for outdoor living with its extra large covered porch overlooking the river. The 2 BR/2BA house has a large kitchen that is fully stocked. The property is level and has easy access into the water for those who want to fish, paddle board, kayak, or float. There are two T.V.s, One is located in the living room and the other is in the master bedroom. The laundry room is large and located just off of kitchen for easy convenience. There are two grills on porch for those who enjoy grilling out.
Rhonda and David enjoy the outdoors and find this house to be their escape from the hustle and bustle of their real estate careers. After hiking the Appalachian Trail after college, David became a real estate developer and Rhonda is the owner of a real estate company. They both hope you enjoy this home as much as they do.
Rhonda Thomas purchased this cabin in 2007
It's a one of a kind property. Only our neighbors across the creek and us have both Hothouse Creek and Toccoa River frontage. Hothouse creek is a stocked creek and the Toccoa is known throughout the trout fishing industry as one of the best in the United States. In fact, Fannin County is designated as the Trout Capital of Georgia. That says it all!
From the property, you can be at Horseshoe Bend park via water within a two hour ride downstream. This estate is also located within a 15 minute drive time to the Ocoee River, which is known for its Olympic whitewater events.
Positives: Great location, secluded, trout fishing, plenty of space for two people...not much more since second bathroom has no shower. Clean and cozy.
Negatives: Wireless Internet only worked on the first day. Service provider issue, very frustrating with rainy weather. Water was not turned on for the dishwasher or washing machine. Gas fireplace shut off after 10 minutes of use. There were other fisherman loading their boat into the river on this property...they made it see like a regular occurrence.
We enjoyed our stay but could have used a couple of tweaks to make it better.
Our stay here was perfect! The river front was exactly what we were hoping for. We were able to fish, and enjoy the serenity of the river. The yard was spacious and a great space for the kids to play. The cabin was clean and furnished nicely. The kitchen had everything we could have needed to prepare our meals. We rode the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, visited Mercier Orchards, and played at nearby Horshoe Bend Park. We would definitely love to return to this cabin again!!!
Myself, my wife and daughter loves the location of the River house. We were able to catch some rainbow trout and also just relax on the wonderful porch facing the river. Although we didn't use the firepit I can see it as a great place for families and friends to gather and enjoy the river sounds at night. The swing facing the river was a great way to relax and just enjoy the sounds of the river also. My wife was very happy with the kitchen- the design of it and also all of the features it provided. Wonderful sets of pots and dishes to utilize as well as an assortment of spices to use. The beds were very comfortable as well as the dining and living area. Just a great experience all around. The exits from the house to the outside were very easy for elderly visitors to navigate with just one step out the side door and the other two exits facing the front of the house. Can't say enough about the wonderful porch area and how it was decorated and also how comfortable the seating was. Enjoyed grilling on the porch and really liked the table. We certainly look forward to our next visit as it was a truly enjoyable stay and the owner was very easy to work with.
Loved this immaculate beautiful home right on the river! Very private, beautiful location on a creek and the river! Easy access to the river, lovely getaway- everything you need is there except your fishing poles and smores fixings! A perfect break from our busy lives in Atlanta! Serene and relaxing!
We typically use VRBO or Homeaway for our family vacations, but of all the places we have stayed, this beautiful home along with the entire rental experience has been the very best yet. I would wholeheartedly recommend this lovely home if you are looking for a wonderful place to enjoy the river.
The home itself was perfect for my husband and myself. We traveled alone this time, but could easily and comfortably shared the cabin with another couple or our children. The home is very well maintained, beautifully decorated, and extremely clean. The floor plan of the home makes it easy to relax, either together or separately. The beds are very comfortable, and there are plenty of extra towels, blankets and pillows. The kitchen is fully furnished, and all of the "extras" that I carry when renting a house were already provided...hand soap, bath soap, dishwasher detergent, trash bags, laundry soap and fabric softener, kitchen towels and sponges, etc...I honestly didn't need to run to the store to pick up anything, as the owners had thought of everything.
There is a fine line in making a guest feel comfortable in a rental home, without crossing the line that causes the guest to feel like they are invading someone's personal space, and these owners did an outstanding job of being welcoming without going overboard. Everything we could need was already planned for.
The house itself is at the end of a road that runs along the Toccoa River and deadends into Hothouse Creek. There is a large home across the creek, but it can barely been seen through the trees. Even over the extremely crowded 4th of July weekend, we felt like we had the river and the neighborhood to ourselves. It was exactly what we were hoping for, and it was awesome!
The deck is absolutely incredible. It is HUGE, and has plenty of comfortable seating that encourage the guests to just relax and watch the river go by. There is also a swing underneath an large oak tree right on the river bank that because a favorite place to sit and just do nothing.
McCaysville is about 10 minutes away, and has some cute stores and restaurants, but for the best shopping and dining, drive about 25 minutes into Blue Ridge. Lots of neat shops there, and not a bad drive at all. For floating down the river, there are several places that rent tubes, canoes and kayaks about 5 minutes up the road.
This place is just simply beautiful. The deck is so relaxing and great for just hanging out or watching the passing fishermen. You can also do some fishing yourself and catch your own Dinner. The house had plenty of room inside and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything you need to cook with. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I recommend this cabin to any one just wanting some time away. Downtown Blue Ridge was great with lots of shops and wonderful places to eat.....we had a perfect weekend getaway.
