Very nice place and conveniently located. Perfect for hiking the AT. Great host.

  • 4 of 5

The property was just what we wanted. 4 stars since the plaster was pealing in places and the bathroom faucet dripped. But we really enjoyed the property and would stay again. Very thoughtful host.

Owner's Response: Right on the Appalachian Trail our 100 year old, updated Arts & Crafts log cabin is a very unique mountain getaway experience. The private outdoor hot tub is just what you needed after you hike in! Thanks for letting me know about the faucet, we are close by and can get maintenance over during your visit or offer a temporary solution. We have slated repairs to the original plaster between guests stays. Second bedroom is complete as well as the sunroom.

Great location in first town on the AT.

  • 4 of 5

This was our second year here. Melanie is great and even dropped off more linens and towels a few days into the stay. Some of the paint is peeling but the cabin is warm and spacious. It is 2 houses away from the AT trail head into Hot Springs. We got some cold weather but cooked marshmallows over the fire pit. Great porch and yard.

So very relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I added a couple of days on to the beginning of a conference to just get away and stayed at the Chestnut Log Cabin this turned out to be a great idea! The view from the front porch was a place I could have stayed our entire time.

The town is an easy distance to walk to, it's very quaint with a surprising amount of dinner options. We went to the Tavern and the Iron Horse Inn, both were enjoyable. We hiked the Lover's Leap just across the river. It has some spectacular views and though we are novice hikers, we found it a moderate challenge but worth the effort.

The hot tub was great to relax in after hiking. It's not state of the art, but it is very comfortable and relaxing. The only critique I would give is the need for bigger and softer towels for drying off. You might even consider bringing your own. If this is the only critique, then that's pretty good, but the towels were just small.

Overall, Melanie was extremely easy to work with. Our time here was so great, just what we needed!

Owner's Response: You found it!! The wonderful rocking chair front porch! A favorite feature for many guests! We have a virtual school teacher who returns often and works off that large front porch with the provided, secured wi-fi. Glad you enjoyed the outdoor hot tub, one our most requested features. Good news!!! Along with our ample supply of regular bath towels we now add large body sheets for those guests really wanting to wrap up! Future guests appreciate your suggestion! Return soon!

Nice cabin in Hot Springs, NC

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was as described - clean, roomy, nice front porch and yard and everything we needed. . Melanie was available and made us feel very welcomed, even supplying fresh towels half way through the week. Easy 1/2 mile walk to Hot Springs, restaurants, the spa hot springs baths and drive to hiking trails. It is not on a wooded trail but a highway, which is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, as we were looking for a more remote location.
