This is a wonderful old house with nice sun light and with plenty of space. There have been numerous expansions and upgrades over the years, but it still has the charm of a classic Victorian house, with hardwood floors throughout the house. This is a 3 story house.
Our neighborhood is wonderful for families and everyone else. There are numerous restaurants, cafes, bars, grocery stores, parks/playgrounds and just about everything else in walking distance. The top of Bernal Hill offers one of the most spectacular views of downtown San Francisco and the bay area.
The largest bedroom is on the ground floor and opens to the small patio/garden through french doors. There is a very comfortable King size sleep number bed (each half is adjustable firm/softness).
The next largest bedroom has a Queen size bed. This room is on the 3rd floor and overlooks the small deck/patio/garden. This room has the most privacy and tons of sunlight.
The third bedroom has a Twin bed with trundle and a foldaway hotel style Crib. This room has a connecting door to the King bedroom. (The Twin/Crib room is perfect for younger children, but is less convenient for adults because they will have to walk through the King bedroom - or go outside through the garden/patio/deck - to access the rest of the house.)
We recently converted our office back into a bedroom. It has a large desk and a comfortable queen size futon sofa and a closet. Previously this had been a locked room for our personal items, but we were able to find other places to put our extra personal items and this room is now available! It is located on the main floor just off the living room.
There is a recently updated full bathroom with shower/tub on the ground floor with access by both the King bedroom and the Twin/Crib room.
The laundry/storage/garage is also on the ground floor as well as the garden/patio/deck in the back.
The middle/main floor has the living room with lots of light and 52' TV with cable. There is a truly wonderful kitchen with a large island and lots of space and gadgets for cooking. There are stainless steel appliances, large refrigerator and marble counters. The dining room is open to the kitchen.
The main/middle floor also has a full bathroom with shower/tub. There is also small sunny reading nook overlooking the small garden/deck and a sunny front entry area.
The furniture and decor throughout the house is tasteful and comfortable. The interior and exterior of the house have been recently painted.
This is a family friendly house. The white furniture shown in some of the photos has been replaced by darker wood furniture that is more kid friendly and has a little bit more traditional style. We can supply baby gates and other childproofing if you want. (Otherwise we put it all away.)
We are offering our home for less than market value as we like to keep it fully rented when we are not living in it. We primarily do 30-90 day rentals. We hope you will enjoy our home and appreciate the great neighborhood. We know you will really enjoy this house.
I grew up in San Francisco and absolutely love this city. My husband works in Boston, so we live part of the time in San Francisco and part of the time in Boston. We rent our wonderful home in San Francisco when we are out in Boston, to help with the costs of travel and living on multiple coasts possible! We have family in both cities. Our adorable 3 year old daughter loves being able to see both gramma's so much. And she is great on airplanes after so many trips across the country.
Jaysa Zablatsky purchased this house in 2013
This is a wonderful victorian house in the best family oriented neighborhood in San Francisco. Everything is within walking distance and the city highways are very close for getting out of town.
We absolutely love the kitchen. It is a wonderful gathering spot in the center of the house, with a fantastic island. The small outdoor patio/deck is a nice place to unwind and have a meal or a cocktail.
Jaysa's peaceful, inviting house is delightful. It's very clean, has comfortable beds, and a kitchen island that begs you to hang out around it. Everything you might need for your convenience has been thoughtfully provided. It's located in the heart of Bernal Heights, an interesting family friendly neighborhood with shops, fine restaurants, and good public transportation. I had two favorite places in Jaysa's house: one was the leather lazy chair in the living room in front of the big TV, and the other was on the lovely, jasmine-scented patio. Jaysa is a gracious, responsive host who has clearly put thought into what would make her guests comfortable. Thank you, Jaysa, and I sincerely hope I get to stay in your home again.
Bernal Heights is a family-friendly community of neighborhoods, parks, restaurants, and shops. This is a charming house on a quiet residential street. A weeklong stay let me, my husband, and two longtime friends from New Zealand (all in our 70s) sample what it means to live in San Francisco—and to see why that’s so popular today. The house is roomy and well appointed. The arrangement of bedrooms and baths on different floors offered quiet and privacy for two couples traveling together, while families with children may appreciate the extra bedroom with twin and crib that adjoins the ground-floor master suite. We used the well-equipped kitchen and comfortable dining room for breakfast every day and dinner most nights. Conveniently located within walking distance are gourmet food and wine shops (up on Cortland) and a fully stocked supermarket (down on Mission). This area, like much of San Francisco, is hilly; our small rental car was welcome for grocery shopping for the week as well as for trips from the city, though we also walked or used nearby public transportation. On-street car parking was generally available right in front of the house. This is a great San Francisco home base for a vacation or a long-term stay.
The house is really beautiful, clean and nicely appointed.
It is located in a very nice neighborhood near many stores and near a nice park.
The pictures and the descriptions are accurate.
My family stayed there for 2 weeks and they really enjoyed the house.
Jaysa is available for any questions and she is a very nice host. I would definitely recommend this house to a friend.
The house was beautiful and very spacious. Jaysa and her mother, Susie were very welcoming and helpful, as well as accessible for any concerns or questions. The open kitchen became the main gathering place for my family. The bedrooms are very private from the living areas. The smaller bedroom downstairs may be a little awkward if you have a party with different families as you can only access it through the king bedroom, but is perfect for a person or couple with children. The property was very clean. The location is great for walking to parks, restaurants, etc. Parking was easy on the weekdays, slightly challenging on the weekend, however noted that we rented a large car. The garage is handy if you have a small car. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to friends and family. Thank you Jaysa and Susie!
My friends and I stayed at this lovely home during a 4 day weekend. I have visited San Francisco before, but this time we found a clean, upscale, and fun house that allowed us to live and feel like locals for the length of our stay. The public transportation makes it easy to go to major attractions. There are stores and shops in the area also if you feel like staying home for the night. Jaysa was very helpful!
Jaysa's house was perfect for my husband and I, my son and grandson (8). My grandson loved having his own room and getting to go back and forth to next door where his friend Zoe lives.- such a big event for City Kids! We live in Santa Barbara and they live in Portland. We have visited SF many times in the past 30 years and my son went to Berkley and then lived several years there- we have lots of experience in SF. The best decision we made was to stay in Jaysa's house- besides being beautiful and we'll set up and stocked for visitors the neighborhood is Fantastic. We ate most of our meals in places we could walk to and everyone was really good. Even if you plan to do a lot of things downtown staying here is still the best idea.
Wonderful urban family friendly neighborhood.
