This stay was our second visit to Greece from Australia and the second time we have stayed here. This time we booked the apartment for a month so that we had a base to explore further beyond Athens and some of the islands. First, Paul was a great host. Second, the apartment is exactly as described and as the photos show. Third, the location is ideal. Everything is close by. The bonus for us is that I was looking to do some Greek cooking classes while in Athens but with coeliac disease (so strictly gluten free), this was a bit tricky. Paul to the rescue. He arranged lessons for me with a wonderful lady (Zamira) in the apartment! It was a real highlight. We cooked together and shared a wonderful meal. Thank you Paul we cannot wait until our next visit.
We stayed in the apartment for 3 nights. It was very comfortable and felt good to come home to. Paul stocked the apartment with plenty of coffee, towels and other essentials. The location was perfect, a quick walk to the metro and just 1 stop from the main section of town. A cute bakery is right next to Metro so we got fresh bread for breakfast. He went above and beyond and helped us with storing some excess luggage while we visited the islands.
We are a family of four and were very pleased with the apartment. The location is fantastic and located very near the sights or a metro. Very easy to get around. Restaurants and grocery stores are nearby.
We never felt unsafe and did not worry at all about our two daughters. Of course, they did not go out at night without us, but that is no different in the US.
Plenty of hot water, American coffee pot, lots of towels, great host that was ready to help with anything, and superb location. We couldn't ask for more.
Thank you Paul for making our holiday in Athens so memorable. This apartment is exactly as it is advertised. The apartment is very clean and well maintained had everything we needed for our stay.
The bonus is of course the host, Paul. Paul went out of his way to assist us in every way. The location is ideal, just a short walk to some of the best Athens has to offer.
On days when we could walk no more, a taxi was easy to find and inexpensive.
Thank you Paul!
We went here for our honeymoon and were so pleased! My husband was most impressed!
#1 - the location is great! Close to everything! We spent the first 2 days using the "hop on hop off" tour. It was a great way to see everything and get familiar with the city!
#2 - the apartment was huge by European standards! Stocked with basic necessities and was very comfortable!
#3 - Paul was a wonderful guide! Helped us with our bags, gave great recommendations and I asked him a couple places to go and he provided excellent directions!
We had an amazing time and highly recommend this apartment! We felt right at home and would stay the again if we get lucky enough to return to Greece!
We are a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 children (all girls). The apartment itself is nice and as advertised. A little small for 5 people, but everything was in good working order - kitchen, air conditioning, wifi, hot water, etc. The location with respect to the main street is also a positive feature - we appreciated its quietness away from all the street noise Athens has to offer. The owner met us as promised, was very friendly and available to answer questions. I would be remiss, however, not to give an honest description of the neighborhood surrounding the apartment, and let prospective renters make their decision accordingly. In short, the immediate neighborhood is very sketchy. My wife and I have spent a considerable amount of time living and traveling in big American cities such as New York, Boston, and San Francisco. We are not shrinking violets. Our children have spent time in those big cities, as well, without being scared to death. We have also lived in Athens for 2+ years cumulatively. Simply put, the neighborhood around this apartment was the worst we had ever seen in Greece: filthy, malodorous, graffiti-riddled, with untrustworthy people lurking around with nothing better to do than stare at the foreigners in their midst, and OBVIOUS nighttime drug activity on the side street below the apartment's balcony. Directly next to the main entrance to the apartment is a bus company specializing in trips to Albania. Other residents encountered in the lobby or hallways of the building were, well, the type to "get one's attention." We wouldn't DREAM of allowing our children out of our sight in this neighborhood, and any time we left or returned (it's a 5-10 minute walk from either Omonoia or Metaxourgheio), we were on full red alert regarding what was going on around us. The general vibe in the neighborhood is not necessarily violent, but it's menacing and desperation is in the air. Maybe having a car at our disposal would have helped, but the possibility of a car being broken into in this neighborhood has got to be very high. We were saddened that this was our children's first-ever experience in Greece, which is a wonderful country with generally friendly people. Fortunately, our travels elsewhere in Greece left them with a good impression, but this neighborhood was a hurdle, something to be forgotten. Would we return here? Uh, no way. Times are tough in Greece, and this is a very, very tough neighborhood.
