Wildlife and Water
The property and house was great for our group's annual kayak fishing trip. Despite Mother Nature not cooperating, the cove around the house was good for paddling around, seeing the osprey, bald eagles, geese and ducks. Even with the rain and thunderstorms, the house was a good to be sheltered on the screened porch, playing cards and grilling while the kitchen had all the necessary equipment. We will certainly be back to this beautiful area.
Thanks for the kind words you offered. Hope you got to see Eddie the Eagle steal Oscar the Ospreys dinner in mid air. He does that all the time, so one should report him to with Wildlife Police, Ha. Look forward to having you back and hopefully your weather will be better.
Laid back relaxation
We enjoyed our family weekend here. The property is very quiet, at the end of a long stretch of country roads. The screen porch, canoe, yard, were all very comfortable, and the inlet was gorgeous. The place has a homey fishing lodge feel. Bring bug spray as there can be a lot of mosquitoes, and some extra essential house supplies since each renter needs to leave the property in check-in ready condition for the next. Enjoy!
Rustic house in a quiet rural area.
The house is super basic, but has most things you could need. The access to the water is nice. You can catch crabs all day. I caught a spotted seatrout from the pier. No wifi, and cellphone reception in only one corner of the upstairs. Owner is polite. But, he expects you to clean the house, wash the linens, and drive garbage off the property. My understanding is that there is no maid service between guests. So, I'm guessing noone washes the shower or toilets between guests. I'm also guessing that the sheets don't get replaced often. I'm glad we brought our own sheets and towels. Upstairs bedrooms are infested with nats. They don't bite but are annoying. The stairs are shaky inside and even more so outside. Roof over the enclosed porch leaks when it rains. I have been to four Homeaway/VBRO houses on the Eastern Shore this summer. This was the worst maintained and the only one where the owner expected guests to clean the place to be fit for the next guests or launder linens. Recommend for a getaway for guys. Don't recommend for couples or people with kids or elderly. Overall, it was just ok. Thankful for the time around nature, but won't be coming back here.
Thank you for your comments on my home. As for the nats infesting my upstairs I have never had an issue unless someone opens the doors with the lights on at night and leaves them open. If you look in the contract I offer a maid service for an additional fee and have always had a clean house. Again this home is not the Hilton Resort but a quiet, clean and peaceful place. You are expected to leave the house like you found it and if you have an issue I am always willing to do my best to resolve it. Best of luck in your next rental.
We have a wonderful time at this property. The owner is great, the house if great and it's pet friendly. Our pups ran and played until they couldn't run anymore. Very relaxing.... secluded and private, beautiful view at sunset and sunrise. We had such a great time that we're already booked for another long weekend. Thanks Randy for what we refer to as "our summer home".
WONDERFUL, QUIET AND SECLUDED!
RANDY'S PLACE IS THE PERFECT SECLUDED GET AWAY!! **Just driving through the bridge of trees lining the road to his place, you start to relax! His place is literally the light at the end of this tree tunnel. The cabin is quaint, quiet, and full of all types of antiques and conversation pieces. We live close to the Delaware Shore, but this area has build up substantially. Randy's place is nice and quiet. There isn't any wi fi internet there, but if you have a SmartPhone, you will connect every now and then. Verizon cell phones work there, and you can always text when all else fails. If you need Wi Fi, the local McDonalds about 7 miles away on Lankford Hwy has it. I would highly recommend Randy's hide-a-way, anytime of the year if you need to relax and unplug! Randy is a great host, and was always there to answer questions and help! Thank you, Randy for an awesome time! WE WILL BE BACK!
Thank you so much for the kind review. When I'm in Paradise I don't won't to be bothered but if and when I need to Connect I can. Peace of Mind, Quite Surrounding, Family and Loved Ones are Paramount in Pungoteague. Look forward to your return and will consider WIFI for next year.
How about those stars in the sky at night, awesome.
My fiance and I could not be happier with our stay here. The property is absolutely gorgeous and we had everything there needed to make our weekend great. The owner was always very responsive and helpful. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend this property to anyone!
Thank you so much for the kind review. This home is the closest thing to Heaven that I have ever been too, as far as "getting away from mankind". You can actually hear yourself think.
Thanks again and look forward to having you back with your return discount.
This home is situated on a large rural estate dating back to 1817. The location is remote and extremely quite and off the Beaten Path.. Driving down the 1/4 mile private driveway with lush wooded acreage on both sides will bring you out to the large open fields where the deer and turkey flourish. You might spot 'Eddie' the American Bald Eagle taking 'Oscar' the Osprey's dinner in mid air. Someone should turn him in for theft.
Turning into the grass driveway you will realize that you just found your Hidden Paradise. With water on all 3 sides of your private estate and minutes to the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay by boat you can't go wrong. Launch your own craft whether it be a John boat, Jet Ski or 18 foot Run About right from your own private dock. High Tide bring's 3-5 feet into the channel. Free use of the canoe and kayaks while staying on property. Alot of landlords offer promises of Paradise but I AM THE REAL DEAL.
Minutes from Wachapreague 'Flounder Capital of the World'.
Other Activities: This home is located in the middle of the Virginia Eastern Shore. Situated in the middle of the Shore you have access to Wallops Island to watch NASA Space launch's or just watch from the property. Visit the World Famous Chincoteague Island and see the 'Wild Ponies' on Assateague Island swim in open water on their annual roundup. You are directly across from Wachapreague 'Little City on the Sea' which hold's the reputation as being the Flounder Fishing Capital of the World. You have quite a few Eastern Shore small towns that offer their own special ammenities from Wine Making (Bloxum) to Music Festivals (Onancock). If you get the hankering for civilization your only 90 minutes to O.C. MD or 70 minutes to Virginia Beach VA. The World's Longest Bridge is only minutes away, Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel 'must see'.
Golf: There is a public course located in Captain's Cove which is next to Chincoteague Island. Let the little lady off to venture out to see all the small seaside specialty shops or visit N.A.S.A. Flight Facility while you hit a couple of golf balls and partake in a 'cold daddy' or two.
If you like Theme Parks keep in mind that south on Rt 13 will take you over the Bridge Tunnel into Norfolk where you can head to Williamsburg for a Day Trip.
Ski: If you like skiing you have your own private waterway to do whatever you want. You want to go fast, do it. You want to parasail, do it. You want to Jet Ski and Water Ski at the same time, do it. No holes barred and when I say private I mean PRIVATE, seeing is believing. Wait till you ski up to your own private deserted beach overlooking the Entrance to the Bay. Wow is all I can say.
