Rockin Rando is a former Navy Vet as well as a former State Trooper and he like's not hearing any noise except mother nature, the popping of a "cold daddy" and the noise of water breaking while netting the infamous Chesapeake Bay Blue Crab. This is life folks when you can step outside your back door and fill your belly with what mother nature provides, from Rockfish, Flounder, Croakers all the way to oysters. Plenty of bait at your own private dock with "Bull Minnows" and "Fiddler Crabs". Whether you like fishing or just hanging out in a place where your away from mankind this is it.
Randy 'Rockin Rando' Martinez purchased this house in 2005
Because it is off the grid, secluded, remote, not easily found and ton's of fun for those of us that enjoy Mother Nature in all her splender. From Sunrise to Sunset to a clear night with Star's everywhere you will enjoy your stay for sure.
Where do I start? You have your own pier and launch area for motor boat, you have free access to a canoe and kayaks, outdoor shower second to none, outside porch also second to none, all the crabs you can eat, a home like you would like to call your own and so much more.
My fiance and I could not be happier with our stay here. The property is absolutely gorgeous and we had everything there needed to make our weekend great. The owner was always very responsive and helpful. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend this property to anyone!
had a great time at your place on our vacation. so quiet and nothing to bother you just like the old days. all the kids had a blast...from the horse shoe pit to the fishing off the pier! I have to admit the back porch is where you'll spend most of your time! thanks for the fun!!
Overall the place was decent and secluded. The house was nice and cool for the dead of summer and provided your basic amenities. Two grills - one charcoal and one propane. While the screened in porch is spacious, the seating is quirky and the door doesn't shut so really it is like sitting outside to a degree. The dock is nice and there is a place to launch your boat, it is only available during high tide which is in the morning and evening. The water levels decrease significantly because the house while situated on water is at the tail end of the creek. There is basic kitchen ware, no serving bowls but a ton of pots n pans so you just have to use those. For the price I was slightly disappointed, but the owner is a nice guy and responsive. Best to call him though. Keep in mind, there is very little to no cell service, no home phone and no Internet (even though it was advertised), so if you have an emergency, you have to drive out a ways to get service or hope one of the neighbors (there are 3 other houses in walking distance) has a phone.
NOTE: This place does not have 3 true bedrooms - it is a one bedroom with an area outside of the bedroom with another bed and then a sofa bed upstairs and downstairs.
Even more perfect weather this stay! Three days/nights of quiet time! Great dinner spot at the Island House Restaurant in Wachapreague. I can't say enough how much we love this place! "We'll be back!"
Though a little hard to find based on the directions the owner was easy to reach and able to guide us to the house. Pictures do a good job! A few things we wish we knew before taking our trip - there are houses on both sides. One is about 200 yards away and the other a little further so if you are looking for 100% remote and isolated this does not quite meet the criteria. There is also poor cell phone service and no internet! So if you have a job that requires you to stay connected 24/7 OR you are hooked on technology bear that in mind beforehand. We were really looking forward to taking the kayaks and canoes out since they came with the house but they appear to have seen better days! Those are our three complaints but overall the house is nice - Randy has done a good job outfitting the kitchen and the house with anything you would need.
Take advantage of the screened in porch, bring bug spray and relax! We did.
We were blessed with great weather this stay! Peace & Quiet, no bothers from cell phones or internet, or society for that matter.
Looking forward to crabbing season!
This home is situated on a large rural estate dating back to 1817. The location is remote and extremely quite and off the Beaten Path.. Driving down the 1/4 mile private driveway with lush wooded acreage on both sides will bring you out to the large open fields where the deer and turkey flourish. You might spot 'Eddie' the American Bald Eagle taking 'Oscar' the Osprey's dinner in mid air. Someone should turn him in for theft.
Turning into the grass driveway you will realize that you just found your Hidden Paradise. With water on all 3 sides of your private estate and minutes to the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay by boat you can't go wrong. Launch your own craft whether it be a John boat, Jet Ski or 18 foot Run About right from your own private dock. High Tide bring's 3-5 feet into the channel. Free use of the canoe and kayaks while staying on property. Alot of landlords offer promises of Paradise but I AM THE REAL DEAL.
Minutes from Wachapreague 'Flounder Capital of the World'.
Other Activities: This home is located in the middle of the Virginia Eastern Shore. Situated in the middle of the Shore you have access to Wallops Island to watch NASA Space launch's or just watch from the property. Visit the World Famous Chincoteague Island and see the 'Wild Ponies' on Assateague Island swim in open water on their annual roundup. You are directly across from Wachapreague 'Little City on the Sea' which hold's the reputation as being the Flounder Fishing Capital of the World. You have quite a few Eastern Shore small towns that offer their own special ammenities from Wine Making (Bloxum) to Music Festivals (Onancock). If you get the hankering for civilization your only 90 minutes to O.C. MD or 70 minutes to Virginia Beach VA. The World's Longest Bridge is only minutes away, Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel 'must see'. On the way down US RT 13 stop in a 'Big's Restaurant' outside of Keller for your 'Best Dinner Ever'. Tell Kelly and Rick to 'Hook you Up'
with some vittle's.
Golf: There is a public course located in Captain's Cove which is next to Chincoteague Island. Let the little lady off to venture out to see all the small seaside specialty shops or visit N.A.S.A. Flight Facility while you hit a couple of golf balls and partake in a 'cold daddy' or two.
If you like Theme Parks keep in mind that south on Rt 13 will take you over the Bridge Tunnel into Norfolk where you can head to Williamsburg for a Day Trip.
Ski: If you like skiing you have your own private waterway to do whatever you want. You want to go fast, do it. You want to parasail, do it. You want to Jet Ski and Water Ski at the same time, do it. No holes barred and when I say private I mean PRIVATE, seeing is believing. Wait till you ski up to your own private deserted beach overlooking the Entrance to the Bay. Wow is all I can say.
