Puerto Vallarta lies along Banderas Bay, the second largest bay in the Western Hemisphere. It is located 352 kilometers (219 miles) from Guadalajara, the state capital of Jalisco, and it is nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Madre mountain range. The region has many forests, rivers and waterfalls, with an average temperature of 27C (80F).
Of its many attractions, Playa Mismaloya which gained fame from the film "The Night of the Iguana" is a popular celebrity hangout. The impressive rock formations of Los Arcos emerge from the bay's crystalline waters, which are great for diving and discovering incredible underwater mountains and steeps. The city hall has murals painted by Manuel Lepe, and the Malecon (sea wall) is adorned with romantic bronze sculptures. Downtown streets offer shops and galleries that sell local paintings and sculptures. The city, known for its top-notch services, also has golf courses, boutiques and a marina.
In Puerto Vallarta you can enjoy the exquisite regional cuisine of Jalisco and the terraces of open-air restaurants, where you can watch cruise ships roll in as you take in an incredible sunset.
Sport fishing is just one of many activities you can do during your stay in Puerto Vallarta. Each year, during the month of November, the International Sailfish Fishing Tournament takes place. Other activities available in this region are eco-tourism, extreme sports, snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, boating, golfing and nightlife.
Note: There are many stairs needed on regular basis - not wheelchair accessible

There's really no way in words that I could do justice in describing how incredible our experience at this villa (and Puerto Vallarta in general) was. The property is a jaw dropping jungle castle with a staff who I can safely say has provided the best service I've ever experienced in my life. The owner of the property even took time to get to know us, and hearing his own stories was fascinating. The location of this property could not have been more convenient - you're a few minutes walk from the best restaurants and most beautiful parts of town. Being located on the top of a hill, the breezes that came through almost made AC unnecessary (and that was for June!). The view of the town below is out of this world. The staff was beyond attentive and did their best to read your mind so they could cater to your every need. We lost our Canon camera on the last day, and Christina immediately began making signs to post around the area to try and help us find it. I'm not kidding - RENT HERE.
the home was beautiful, the staff was very professional and pleasant. I did think suggesting we pay and additional $10-12 a day to the staff was excessive when all we had them do was make beds any cooking they did ( 2 breakfasts and 1 Dinner ) and we payed and additional $75.00 plus supplies for Dinner . I thought the cost of the villa included housekeeping.
Everything about the Villa was wonderful. The cooks, the location, the amenities and the villa itself. My wife and I went with my in-laws and our youngest and we all had an excellent time. The best Thanksgiving dinner ever!
We had a beautiful stay at Casa Ileana. We arrived with luxury retreats concierge on the property introducing us to the staff. This was very helpful. Christy the house manager an cook was amazing. Her cooking was fantastic! The home was gorgeous the pictures don't do it justice. We also love the proximity to old town.
Although we were there during the presidential election, I felt like the King of Mexico. Casa Ileana made us feel like we were in a castle on the side of a mountain looking over Old PV. The staff was amazing and friendly, and could cook some of the best Mexican breakfast I have ever had (and I'm a Chef). The rooms, though some larger than other, were all at least hotel sized and had five star accommodations, from soft beds to A/C units. The living area, dinging room, kitchen and pool is where we spent most of our time, which always came with comfort, a satisfying view, and brilliant sunsets. I can't recommend Casa Ileana enough, and if I did I would ruin the surprise...
