Sevierville Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 4 Bedrooms + Outdoor Sleeping Porch, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 10-12)

*****A LAKE AND MOUNTAIN VACATION!*****

PLEASE VIEW VIDEO AT BOTTOM OF PAGE UNDER CALENDAR

You have found a spacious and lovingly decorated log cabin on beautiful Douglas Lake. The Pioneer offers the best of both worlds: a lake AND mountain vacation!

Stay at the beautifully appointed Pioneer Trading Post, located just 20 minutes from Dollywood and only 30 minutes from Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and the Smokey Mountain National Park.

5 BEAUTIFULLY DECORATED BEDROOMS:

Each room has its own special charm and appeal. You will find 100% cotton sheets, feather pillows, authentic hand stitched quilts, and rustic, vintage touches for the feel you only get at Granny’s house.

SCREENED IN SLEEPING PORCH:

There is also a classic, breezy summer screened in sleeping porch with an antique 3/4 bed and sitting area.

YOU'LL HAVE A 4-ACRE PRIVATE PENINSULA TO YOURSELF!

Parents can relax knowing their kids are always within ear-shot on the 4-acre gentle sloping knoll overlooking the lake. Our grassy front and side yard, with swings, rustic log seating, camping platform, and firepit are great for gatherings and games. The wooded pathways, landscaped hillside garden, and long shoreline are fun to explore and enjoy. It's a beautiful haven where you can truly feel away from it all.

PLEASE NOTE : This is a TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority) dam controlled lake. Levels fall slowly beginning in September and fully rise again in April. The winter lake levels are dependent on rainfall and TVA's whim (See TVA website for current levels). The summer levels stay consistently at their highest, and are easily deep enough for fishing, swimming, and docking a boat. The winter lake level will create a wide, firm, sandy shoreline that's great for long walks, crystal/arrowhead hunting, and fishing.

4 BATHROOMS:

1 modern two-person shower

2 claw footed tubs with showers

2 outdoor showers

BURSTING WITH APPALACHIAN CULTURE AND HISTORY:

Built by the first American settlers to the region, each log was hand hewn. You will find early American chestnut walls and ceilings, vintage oak and heart pine floors, spinning wheels, hand-stitched textiles, church pews, butter churns, pie safes, cedar chests, and family antiques throughout, yet with all the amenities of plush modern living. The Pioneer is a living museum to Appalachian history.

A REAL CHEF'S DREAM:

6 burner gas stove

Full range of modern cookware

Stainless steel appliances

Carrera marble and butcher-block countertops

Also includes an arsenal of stocked spices

AN OUTDOOR KITCHEN, GRILL AND DINING AREA OVERLOOKING LAKE:

About Kathryn Jarrett: Reservation Manager

We love the great outdoors. We enjoy good food and coming together around the large harvest table at the Pioneer. Tara grew up at the cabin with her Appalachian Granny, Fran Stalcup. Granny was known far and wide as Mountain Mama and she knew the mountains like the back of her hand.

Kathryn Jarrett: Reservation Manager purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Kathryn Jarrett: Reservation Manager chose Tennessee

When you rent this property you help keep the spirit of old Appalachia alive.

The Pioneer Trading Post was named after our family store originally located in Gatlinburg. The Hand-hewn cabin was built by early Scot Irish settlers with primitive tools.

The building techniques of the early American settlers has stood the test of time.

Each log is a work of art.

The cabin is going on 200 years old and it will stand another 200 years.

The Pioneer Trading Post is a living museum to a people, their unique way of life and their land.

What makes this cabin unique

Guests get to experience a glimmer of what life might have looked like during the early 1800's, but with all the comforts of modern living.

Guests get the pleasure of staying in a real home that was full of love and music.

You will feel right at home as soon as you walk in the door.

Staying at The Pioneer is having the best of both worlds. You have a lake shore vacation that is within easy driving distance of the mountains and all the action of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.

You will have the entire secluded, 4 acre peninsula to yourself with unencumbered views of the lake.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for letting us spend our parents 50th Wedding Anniversary at the Pioneer Trading Post. You can feel the history, culture, and warmth that your Granny you and your family have put into the cabin! We shared a lot of time cooking, hanging out on the deck, in the hot tub and down by the dock. There is so much to explore here inside and out! We definitely want to come back! Indianapolis, IN

Upon arrival the first thing we discovered was that the locked gate wasn't locked, in fact it was wide open and could not be closed. So just know you do not have to have any codes to enter the property. Walking into to the house our first thought was, this isn't what we were expecting. We didn't realize it would be so old. But in no time we began to fall in love with our surroundings. The property is beautiful, with winding trails around the property, multiple swings tucked in among the trees, stone path to the lake. The cabin was comfortably informal, inviting and cozy, Everywhere we looked there were items of interest to point out to others. Here are a few things we noticed about our stay that I would have wanted to know ahead of time. Everything squeaks, so for people with early risers and folks that like to sleep in, that could be a problem. The loft bedroom is small and has very low ceilings, fine for kids but the stairs up to the loft are unique but hard for smaller kids to maneuver. The lake is beautiful, we spent many hours there and we loved it. There isn't a boat at the property so we rented a boat for the day. A bonus we experienced was our "vacation dog". A lovely hound dog, Dixie, visited us daily and occasionally brought her sidekick Sadie. We feel in love with these dogs. They were good, sweet dogs and we missed them when we left. Pigeon Forge is about 20 minutes away and Gatlinburg about 50 minutes. We visited Gatlinburg for a day and enjoyed lunch at The Pancake Pantry. The best dinner we had was at Fat Tony's. So I hope this helps you decide if you want to rent this cabin or not. We would go back in a minute. P.S. Would have been nice to have a mixer available. Hot tub was wonderful!

A time capsule with modern conveniences!

  • 4 of 5

This cabin is both a historic museum and a beautiful lake front cabin with modern amenities. My family absolutely LOVED the charm of the claw foot tubs, antique kitchen sink, and historic artifacts coupled with wifi, lake front access, and the beautiful property. The ice machine was a nice and welcomed surprise. The kids loved making s'mores around the fire pit and everyone loved the hot tub. We spent hours on the back deck and on the floating Dock swimming, relaxing and fishing. The beds were very comfortable and felt clean. We found it convenient to shopping and all of the activities in Sevierville/Pigeon Forge. Access was easy and we were able to avoid traffic coming in for the weekend and leaving upon check out.

If you don't bring a boat, consider renting one from a local marina. The lake is gorgeous.

There are a few suggestions I would make:

1. There are ants around the kitchen sink and island area. More frequent spraying would make a world of difference. Having air tight storage containers is a must.

2. The dust was very thick under the beds. More frequent mopping/sweeping.

3. The bedroom count and bed arrangement is not clear in the description. This would be helpful in pre-planning sleeping arrangements.

4. The trees between the deck and lake could use a trim, they are obstructing the view more so than the pictures.

5. Provide a large stock pot, there's a very large one and several small/medium.

Overall the place was very nice and we would come back again.

Thanks,

Emma

Slice of Heaven Right in Tennessee

  • 5 of 5

There were 11 of us staying at the Pioneer Trading Post; family, neighbors & friends, ranging from teens to 60's. Everyone loved it!

If you follow the directions, the cabin is easy to find. The cabin itself is so quaint & lovely, yet it has modern day conveniences like AC, Washer/Dryer, Ice Maker, Hot Tub; everything you could possibly need. Has iron & board, hair dryers, coffee maker (information says it takes "cone" filters, but it takes round ones), tap for drinking water above sink. Bedrooms had sink & toilet in their bathroom, most had tubs. Two Bedrooms shared sink/toilet.

The cabin appears to have had additions over the years, but done in such a way that it just adds to the charm; stained glass windows, aprons for valences, teapot for a faucet. So cute! You're transported back in time!

There is so much history & there are pieces of it tucked both inside the cabin & out. A favorite was the Hillbilly Shower. Never dreamed taking a shower outside in a sort of see through VERY rustic building could be that fabulous. The yard is beautiful with swings, fountain, fire pit& more.

Tara called the day after we arrived to see how we were doing. She gave us a few helpful suggestions when I told her what we planned to do. We rented a Pontoon Boat for a full day. The marina is about 15 minutes from the house on Douglas Lake also. We went Whitewater Rafting with Smoky Mountain Rafting which was a BLAST & would highly recommend. We hiked the Smokey's (won’t let me spell it right) to Rainbow Falls. So Pretty! Be prepared if you go, with good hiking shoes and plenty of water.

The tourist attractions & towns were crazy busy & had we thought about it, would have hit them in the beginning of the week, rather than the end when even more tourists started arriving. Went to Sugarland's Distilling for a free Moonshine tasting which was fun. Dick's Last Resort was a fun place to go with a group.

I'd HIGHLY recommend this beautiful log cabin. A Perfect Getaway!

Tara - Glad you heeded your Granny's words and "kept the cabin come hell or high water".

What a place!

  • 4 of 5

The pictures do not do this place justice. We absolutely loved the decorations, the feel, and the lake. The property was clean and well-maintained and the location manager Kathryn was really easy to work with. One of the AC units (not old) went out on us and both the owner and the manager worked to make sure we were taken care of. I would recommend this location to others. One drawback is in the heat of the summer the AC has a tough time keeping up with little kids opening doors (we had a bunch) and lots of cooking (we cook a ton and we had a lot of people). The other drawback is in being a genuine cabin (with modern amenities) noise travels through the house a little more than it would somewhere else. Overall we had a great experience and our family wants to go somewhere like this (but bigger) soon.

Quiet peaceful getaway

  • 5 of 5

We went here for my girls weekend to celebrate me getting married. It was peaceful and had a beautiful view of the lake. We enjoyed eating outside on the porch and hanging out in the hot tub. It was also easily accessible to Pigeon Forge.

Gorgeous!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of 7 adults and two children. We all absolutely loved this cabin. We stayed for a full week. Each party had their own bedroom so if you wanted to get away from the others it was easy to do. The kids had a blast in the loft and the adults loved having the hot tub to relax in at night. Handyman Arron had to come by and clean the filter for us and fix the gate. He was a gem! Very polite and answered any questions we needed.
