Tennessee Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 4 Bedrooms + Outdoor Sleeping Porch, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 10-12)

*****A LAKE AND MOUNTAIN VACATION!*****

PLEASE VIEW VIDEO AT BOTTOM OF PAGE UNDER CALENDAR

You have found a spacious and lovingly decorated log cabin on beautiful Douglas Lake. The Pioneer offers the best of both worlds: a lake AND mountain vacation!

Stay at the beautifully appointed Pioneer Trading Post, located just 20 minutes from Dollywood and only 30 minutes from Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and the Smokey Mountain National Park.

5 BEAUTIFULLY DECORATED BEDROOMS:

Each room has its own special charm and appeal. You will find 100% cotton sheets, feather pillows, authentic hand stitched quilts, and rustic, vintage touches for the feel you only get at Granny’s house.

SCREENED IN SLEEPING PORCH:

There is also a classic, breezy summer screened in sleeping porch with an antique 3/4 bed and sitting area.

YOU'LL HAVE A 4-ACRE PRIVATE PENINSULA TO YOURSELF!

Parents can relax knowing their kids are always within ear-shot on the 4-acre gentle sloping knoll overlooking the lake. Our grassy front and side yard, with swings, rustic log seating, camping platform, and firepit are great for gatherings and games. The wooded pathways, landscaped hillside garden, and long shoreline are fun to explore and enjoy. It's a beautiful haven where you can truly feel away from it all.

PLEASE NOTE : This is a TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority) dam controlled lake. Levels fall slowly beginning in September and fully rise again in April. The winter lake levels are dependent on rainfall and TVA's whim (See TVA website for current levels). The summer levels stay consistently at their highest, and are easily deep enough for fishing, swimming, and docking a boat. The winter lake level will create a wide, firm, sandy shoreline that's great for long walks, crystal/arrowhead hunting, and fishing.

4 BATHROOMS:

1 modern two-person shower

2 claw footed tubs with showers

2 outdoor showers

BURSTING WITH APPALACHIAN CULTURE AND HISTORY:

Built by the first American settlers to the region, each log was hand hewn. You will find early American chestnut walls and ceilings, vintage oak and heart pine floors, spinning wheels, hand-stitched textiles, church pews, butter churns, pie safes, cedar chests, and family antiques throughout, yet with all the amenities of plush modern living. The Pioneer is a living museum to Appalachian history.

A REAL CHEF'S DREAM:

6 burner gas stove

Full range of modern cookware

Stainless steel appliances

Carrera marble and butcher-block countertops

7’ antique porcelain sink.

Also includes an arsenal of stocked spices

AN OUTDOOR KITCHEN, GRILL AND DINING AREA OVERLOOKING LAKE:

OUR TREASURED TOTEM POLE:

Pull up a seat next to the fireplace and study the vintage hand-carved totem pole made for Grandaddy by Chief Blue Cloud of the Cherokee Nation.

The totem pole stood outside the family store, The Pioneer Trading Post since the 1930's.

About Kathryn Jarrett: Reservation Manager

We love the great outdoors. We enjoy good food and coming together around the large harvest table at the Pioneer. Tara grew up at the cabin with her Appalachian Granny, Fran Stalcup. Granny was known far and wide as Mountain Mama and she knew the mountains like the back of her hand.

Kathryn Jarrett: Reservation Manager purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Kathryn Jarrett: Reservation Manager chose Tennessee

When you rent this property you help keep the spirit of old Appalachia alive.

The Pioneer Trading Post was named after our family store originally located in Gatlinburg. The Hand-hewn cabin was built by early Scot Irish settlers with primitive tools.

The building techniques of the early American settlers has stood the test of time.

Each log is a work of art.

The cabin is going on 200 years old and it will stand another 200 years.

The Pioneer Trading Post is a living museum to a people, their unique way of life and their land.

What makes this cabin unique

Guests get to experience a glimmer of what life might have looked like during the early 1800's, but with all the comforts of modern living.

Guests get the pleasure of staying in a real home that was full of love and music.

You will feel right at home as soon as you walk in the door.

Staying at The Pioneer is having the best of both worlds. You have a lake shore vacation that is within easy driving distance of the mountains and all the action of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.

You will have the entire secluded, 4 acre peninsula to yourself with unencumbered views of the lake.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for letting us spend our parents 50th Wedding Anniversary at the Pioneer Trading Post. You can feel the history, culture, and warmth that your Granny you and your family have put into the cabin! We shared a lot of time cooking, hanging out on the deck, in the hot tub and down by the dock. There is so much to explore here inside and out! We definitely want to come back! Indianapolis, IN

Quiet peaceful getaway

We went here for my girls weekend to celebrate me getting married. It was peaceful and had a beautiful view of the lake. We enjoyed eating outside on the porch and hanging out in the hot tub. It was also easily accessible to Pigeon Forge.

Gorgeous!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of 7 adults and two children. We all absolutely loved this cabin. We stayed for a full week. Each party had their own bedroom so if you wanted to get away from the others it was easy to do. The kids had a blast in the loft and the adults loved having the hot tub to relax in at night. Handyman Arron had to come by and clean the filter for us and fix the gate. He was a gem! Very polite and answered any questions we needed.

Loved this place so very much. Was peaceful. A beautiful "step back in time" stay. Was there with my husband, 4 grown children and 2 of their spouses and my 3 grandchildren and still plenty of room for more. Would love to go back sometime again. Is a beautiful place to make lasting memories.

Fun and relaxing getaway

  • 3 of 5

We had a wonderful time staying here during our spring break. The cabin was very nice and everything was as it showed in the photos and description. The owner was fantastic to work with and made things very easy and enjoyable for us. We were a little disappointed due to the lake not having any water in it so the kids could not swim or fish. Otherwise, it was a good location and close to things we wanted to do.

Best cabin in Gatlinburg!

  • 5 of 5

The photos on this website don't do this home any justice. The owners have managed to keep the history, nostalgia all together in this cabin and still bring the modern conveniences for a comfortable stay. The beds were comfortable and quality mattresses, they have blackout blinds to help anyone who sleeps or naps, the hot tub has amazing views. Although the lake was completely dry (no water) it didn't take away from the hot tub views and gathering around the deck. The kitchen is a terrific cook's kitchen with ample prep space, sink, and gas stove. Filtered water in the fridge is an added bonus when we forgot bottled water. The bedrooms are quiet, showers were terrific and the posted instructions throughout the home were helpful for various things. (temperature control, front door lock, check out instructions, hot tub instructions, etc) The kitchen is spacious, the bedrooms are spacious and ample seating in living areas to not be too stuffy. We had 8 adults and still had room to spare. This cabin is not in the midst of all the tourist traffic so you do have to drive to Pigeon Forge (30 min) & Gatlinburg (50min) but we didn't mind getting out of those areas to our own oasis. Great cabin, great amenities, and we enjoyed our stay!

The perfect cabin

  • 5 of 5

This is the perfect cabin for someone who appreciates authenticity and solitude. The property is beautiful. The cabin is a blend of rustic antiques and modern conveniences. It is spacious, yet cozy. The hosts are incredibly helpful and attentive. They have provided everything you will need for cooking as well as an abundance of linens. I travel often and this is the by far the best cabin I have visited. I highly recommend the cabin.
