Complete with panoramic views of the sea from atop charming little Havers Hill on the island of Tortola is the villa known affectionately as Summer Heights. This luxury vacation estate contains six bedrooms, alongside plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces for living and playing, for up to twelve guests at a time. This villa is for lovers, families or anyone looking to get into a Caribbean state of mind.
Guests of Summer Heights are always greeted with a starter bar, though the crown jewel of Summer Heights’ many luxury amenities is no doubt its gorgeous blue-tiled swimming pool from where one can enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding sea. Next to the pool is a covered alfresco dining area, great for casual dining. There is also an outdoor bar with a refrigerator, a gas grill, double hammock and plenty of patio furniture. The estate has both full cleaning and laundry services and modern entertainment devices, plus an Internet connection.
The interior of Summer Heights has tall, lofty ceilings, and have been decorated in a contemporary style with soft color tones. The great room is spacious and has been furnished with stylish white leather seating and whimsical objets-d’art. On the far side of this great room is a unique curved glass brick wall, on the other side of which is the gourmet kitchen that is decked out with an espresso machine and ice cream maker among other major appliances.
Painted in either lovely ocean pastels or coral tones, four bedrooms in the main house are off the great room on two floors and each have en-suite bathrooms, climate control, TV, telephone, radio, coffee maker and ocean views. The Turtle Dove Suite found on the far side of the pool has a king bed, air conditioning, television, a bath with his-and-her sinks, a bidet and large shower. The sixth bedroom, ideal for children, has two twin beds and can be accessed via an interior staircase from the Turtle Dove Suite below.
Even though it’s the largest of the British Virgin Islands, Tortola still feels very low key. The pier is spotted with sailors and sailing ships. And from there it’s just a jaunt to the center of town. Be on the lookout for one-of-a-kind gems made by local craftspeople, such as handmade jewelry and metal bracelets – forged while you watch!

Originally from England, the owners of Summer Heights personally built and now maintain Summer Heights in immaculate condition. Their own accommodations are tucked away on the lower eastern side of the property, completely separate from the villa's amenities. For more than 20 years, they have hosted guests on their beautiful 72-foot sailing yacht in the Caribbean. Use them as information resources, have them professionally cater your dinner party, or help arrange your day's activities...or simply indicate your preferences for total privacy.

The villa was beautiful, though a bit more dated than initially thought. Gorgeous views. Only thing I would caution future guest is the taxi up the hill is $10 per person. And many taxis don't like coming up the hill.
Summer Heights was a wonderful villa to stay in. It was extremely well equipped with loads of towels, including beach towels & many other extras. All the rooms were beautiful and the beds and pillows were so comfortable. It was a joy to wake up in the morning to the amazing views. We all loved the pool and the 3 year old learned to swim in it while we were there. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who came in twice a week to change the towels and bedding. I would certainly come again and we were all very sad to leave.
We loved Summer Heights. It is a beautiful place. Very good place to relax and enjoy the urrounding views. The kitchen was fantastic. FULLY equipped which was great since I love to cook and we had several meals in. The owners were helpful and there if we needed them. I would definitely go back again and would recommend it to my friends.
Summer Heights was a great place to stay. We had 4 couples in a 5-bedroom villa, and we had plenty of space. All of the rooms open up to an outdoor common area with pool and dining table. Great for the tropical atmosphere.
Getting to the villa requires driving a 4x4 up rather steep, narrow switchback roads, but it was not an issue.
The location is great, basically in the middle, travel-wise, with Road Town, Soper's Hole, Cane Garden Bay, and all of the western island attractions easily accessible. Eastern locations require more of a drive but the southern road is flat and quick.
