Lovely craftsman style home, perfect for a family vacation!!! It is decorated comfortably and has 2 bedrooms and a Florida room that can sleep 8 people. The bedrooms have 1 full bed and one bedroom has a queen bed. The Florida room can also be used to sleep 2 more people. Best of all, this home is located less than 1 mile from the beach. It is also in walking distance to the Casual Cafe, Milda's, Bud N Elsies, and Ramberg's Bakery. The Four Winds Casino and some local Wineries are also close by.

Amenities include: laundry room Washer/dryer, dish washer, and Hi-Speed wireless Internet. Flat screen TV with Direct TV basic channels, Comfy styled furnishings throughout, and multiple living spaces to stretch out and enjoy the summer and or Winter. Convenience of being close to it all in Union Pier and short walk to the beach!!

Pets are accepted for an additional fee. No smoking in the residence.

The house was roomy and comfortable. Clean. Some renovations have been done, others in need. The owner was lovely and easy to communicate with. We enjoyed a good long summer weekend with friends and family dropping by to visit and we all could walk to the beach, play badminton or volleyball. We loved the big shady yard. Lots of space. Saw many deer and rabbits. My nieces loved that. I would stay at Griffin Manor again... hope to! Thank you Millicent. Cynthia J.

Cozy and Fun

This is a nice, cozy cottage for a week at Lake Michigan. Beach access is easy - just down the road. Millicent is a good communicator and making arrangements was easy. We had a great time relaxing and visiting with friends.

Nice area,10min walk to beach but house needs help

We stayed at the Griffin Manor from July 9-12, 2016. I booked the property just 2 weeks before. There were very few other places that weren't booked already so I was glad to find this one online. We typically stay in rental homes in the Michigan City area and have done so 12 years in a row. This is the first time I have waited so long to book a rental home.

The listing indicated that the home had been newly renovated. We found that while some things were new like the side door, light fixtures, some appliances, some furniture and the bathroom, the majority of the home still needs renovating. The flooring is original and is in very bad shape with exception to the bathroom. Several cracks in the linoleum and lifting in many places. There was also a large crack in the kitchen counter. The wall paper was old and looked dirty. There was an odor to the home upon entering, wasn't sure if it was musty or a pet odor. The amenties listed that the property had air conditioning. While this is true, there is just 1 window unit that is supposed to cool the entire place with the help of the ceiling fans. The day and night were pleasant in the home as the outside temperature was only 78 degrees but the 2nd and 3rd night were quite miserable, it never got cooler than 83 degrees inside. The kitchen was fully stocked as listed and all appliances worked well. There was hot water for showers and a nice hose outside for rinsing off.

I received a welcome email with the wifi password. This password did not work. I called the owner the next morning and she texted me a new one that did work. The welcome email also stated that there was a pass to Cherry Beach in the drawer of the home. We found the pass but it was expired. I told the owner and she said that the previous guests must have lost the unexpired pass and that the pass is only good on the weekends. We chose to just walk to the local beach. It is a very small area of shore, only 101 feet as private beaches border close by. The beach was EXTREMELY crowded Saturday and Sunday.

Unfortunately for the price per night of this home and it's current condition, I would not recommend this rental to family or friends.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback We want our guests to be comfortable inside as well as outside and will add more AC units. We understand how being too hot is not a great experience. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. The Manor is indeed a juxtaposition of old and new to maintain the original charm of the home with added modern comforts, like in the bath and kitchen areas. We will continue to make improvements and appreciate the feedback. We hope to make the Manor a location that guests will return to in the future and guest feedback assists us in focusing on the things that matter most to our guests...Our desire is to provide a comfortable and relaxing vacation stay for our guests, friends and family.
