Mary Jane Cappello
About Mary Jane Cappello
My husband, Chris, started as an organic beef farmer. When he retired from that, he started breeding Belgian draft horses and working the farm for hay and timber. He then started a sawmill, excavation and alternative construction business that exists presently. Chris is active in local government and is on the Boards of many local organizations. I am a retired special needs school teacher who presently works on the farm, volunteers in the community and manages the vacation rental property.
Mary Jane Cappello purchased this House in 1973
Why Mary Jane Cappello chose Flint Hill
The location of King Mountain House at the back of Horseshoe Hollow Farm offers a very serene, secluded and quiet retreat. However, it is close enough to all of Rappahannock County's villages when activity is desired. The house's design offers an open, spacious bright and comfortable getaway with all modern conveniences. It is equally suitable for couples and/or small groups.
What makes this House unique
The King Mountain House's design makes it a suitable and comfortable getaway for 2-8 It is also a perfect property for small specialty groups such as yogis and equestrians.

Much better than expected
Mary Jane and Chris are amazing hosts. Chris was super helpful in introducing us to the property, giving us ideas about hiking and sharing cool stories. The property is better than on the pictures, the view is amazing! Thank you for a great stay.
Neat property. Especially liked the basement sauna. Great view.
This was the perfect place for our family retreat. So many places to rest and reflect, inside and out. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes and appliances and basic oils and spices and the grill is immaculately maintained. The view and terrace is as good as the picture and there was a surprise sauna in one of the bathrooms, what a treat! I recommend this whole heartedly!
Exactly what we were looking for :)
A fabulous and interesting property. It provided ample space and everything was exactly as expected and more. House manual made for finding things easy and organized. If the house had a hot tub, it would have sealed the deal lol. But no biggie on that since the house has a sauna, which was great too! Owners were very accommodating and kind. Would definitely recommend to others. Hope to book again one day :)
Great stay while attending a wedding.
We had a lovely stay at this hill top hide-away. The view was spectacular. A highlight was lunch under the pergola, overlooking the foothills. The house was comfy, and lovely. Loved the shoji doors. The master bed was particularly comfortable. We didn't need it, but the kitchen seemed fully stocked. I highly recommend this house.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the King Mountain house. It was clean, spacious and filled with every possible ammentie that you could have asked for or needed. The highlight of our trip however was the view. Wow! We will definitely be back again in a warmer month when we are able to enjoy the outdoor entertaining areas more.
