BIRCH HAVEN IS A VACATION RENTAL LIKE NO OTHER...

Aesthetics and comfort are given equal emphasis at this artistic 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo loft, furnished with antique barnwood & log furnishings designed personally by the artist-owner. Just 2 blocks from Main Street, the downtown location means that grocery stores, restaurants, art galleries, trendy cafes are all at your doorstep!

The loft features 23-foot vaulted ceilings, soaring 8-foot walls of glass flanking a cozy log/river stone fireplace & hi-speed wireless internet. Enjoy stunning views whether you are lounging in bed, relaxing on the leather sofa, working out in the gym or soaking in the rooftop hot tub! Even though the hot-tub and gym are shared with other occupants of the building, they are rarely crowded because there are 3 gyms and 3 hot-tubs in the building.

Every piece of antique barnwood and log furnishing is exquisite and crafted by artisans, earning us a reputation as the area's most sought-after loft for honeymooners, families, and those looking for a vacation experience that's a cut above the rest! (All the photos shown here are of ACTUAL VIEWS FROM BIRCH HAVEN!)

THE BIRCH HAVEN DIFFERENCE...

Birch Haven offers an unusual number of thoughtful bonuses, which adds tremendous value to your stay. Ask us how you can get the bonuses below for FREE (limited time offer)!

1. WIFI

2. BANFF PARK PASS: Use of our pass saves you an extra $20 per day!

As if the above is not enough, you will find even more touches that differentiate Birch Haven from any other vacation rental.

Travel guidebooks and brochures to help you make the most of your visit. A barnwood armoire brimming with toys, board games, and novels. Even cookbooks in the gourmet kitchen.

At Birch Haven, you can pamper yourself with our feather-bed topper for plush bedding comfort. Or remove the topper, if you prefer a firmer mattress. We even offer a 'library' of pillows to accommodate your preferences.

Upon request, we also offer hard-to-find amenities that make a real difference to parents: a portable playpen/crib, plus a dining high chair for your little one!

DISCLAIMERS: Please be aware due to mountain conditions, we cannot guarantee 24/7 wifi as provider outages that are beyond our control sometimes can occur. The hot-tubs are shared amenities and are subject to periodic closure for cleaning/maintenance. There are 3 hot-tubs in the building complex (2 rooftop and 1 indoor), so there is usually at least one that is open. However, we cannot guarantee availability as the cleaning/maintenance schedule is beyond our control.

BED/BATH CONFIGURATION:

Birch Haven is designed to sleep 6 persons. However, larger groups have used a spare twin mattress (on floor) to sleep the 7th person. Additionally, one infant (if applicable) can sleep in the portable playpen.

Main level bedroom: One queen barnwood bed. There is a separate full bathroom next door (American-style bathtub with handheld/mounted shower).

Loft level bedroom and bath (note: this is open to living room below): One queen log canopy bed (+ one spare single mattress on floor). Full open bath in bedroom (European-style soaking tub with handheld shower)

Living room: One queen sleeper sofabed, with optional feather topper for extra comfort. Upon request, there is also a portable playpen/crib for infants/toddlers.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!

VISIT 4 NATIONAL PARKS:

Birch Haven is blessed with easy access to four national parks and several provincial parks:

**24 km / 15 miles to Banff townsite (approx 15 mins)

**80 km / 50 miles to Lake Louise and the start of the Icefields Parkway (approx 45 mins)

**60 km / 35 miles to Kootenay Natl Park entrance (approx 45 mins)

**80 km / 50 miles to Yoho Natl Park* entrance (approx 1hr 15 mins)

**200 km / 125 miles to Jasper Natl Park* entrance (approx 2 hrs)

**26 km / 16 miles to Kananaskis Country (approx 0.5 hrs).

EASY ACCESS:

One thing that sets the Canadian Rockies apart from other mountain destinations is how little effort it takes to reach spectacular scenery. Truly stunning vistas that may require hours of hiking in other parks are right on the highway, accessible from the window of your car! Indeed, some of these drives (including the Icefields Parkway drive) are rated as one of the most scenic highways in the world...

****************

SUMMER ACTIVITIES:

Summer activities are seemingly endless: golfing, whitewater rafting, fishing, horseback riding, wildlife-watching, hiking, heli-hiking, ATV expeditions, caving, rock climbing, mountain-biking and more.

Bicycling magazine named the Canmore area as one of 'The 50 Best Trips on Our Planet.' Suffice to say, accolades and activities abound...

Drive to Columbia Glacier, the largest non-polar ice-cap in the world, hop on a snocoach and walk on the face of the glacier! Or, for a taste of the Wild West, hop on a wagon picnic excursion or saddle up a horse.

Hikers will find thousands of miles of maintained trails Try heli-hiking, and have a helicopter drop you off at the top of a remote peak, pick you up at the bottom, after you take a leisurely hike down!

And then there is golf. With 6 world-class golf courses and 135 spectacular holes nearby, Canmore is a golfer's mecca. Three courses (Stewart Creek, Silvertip and Canmore Golf & Curling Club) are within a few minutes' drive...

WINTER ACTIVITIES:

Winter is romantic and simply magical. Ice-skate, snowshoe, snowmobile, dog-sled, ice-fish, ski and more, in postcard-perfect surroundings!

Follow the tracks of wolves and learn the hunting patterns of owls in snowshoe excursions. Take guided ice walks through Johnston and Grotto Canyons. Experience the world of suspended waterfalls and massive blue ice pillars, frozen in time. Go on a guided ice-fishing expedition in the toasty warmth of heated huts!

Enjoy sleigh rides, or let a team of huskies whisk you through breathtaking scenery on dogsleds. Snowmobile through the back roads and wilderness areas. Or soar over the stunning landscapes of the Continental Divide in a helicopter!

Then there's world class skiing and snowboarding on dry champagne powder. Banff/Lake Louise was recently voted 'Best Ski Resort of the World' by the London Daily Telegraph!

Five downhill ski areas are within easy reach of Birch Haven, with Norquay, Sunshine and Nakiska within a 15-30 minute drive...

About The Owner

Travel is somewhat of an obsession with us, and having traveled extensively in over 50 countries, we can quite safely say that the Canadian Rockies (and especially Banff National Park) still holds up as one of our favorite spots in the world.

Why The Owner chose Alberta

We fell head over heels in love with this awe-inspiring location during a vacation here and had hardly scratched the surface of available activities in those 2 weeks. When we realized that it would take a lifetime to enjoy the gifts of the area, we quickly decided that we wanted to own a slice of heaven... to have a special place to rejuvenate our minds, reassess our priorities and recalibrate our lives.

We first purchased one penthouse loft, loved it so much that we purchased another loft! Hence, we now have TWO SIDE-BY-SIDE lofts that we are proud to share with you. these 2 lofts can be rented separetely, or together (for large groups).

Come experience the magic of the Canadian Rockies!

What makes this condo unique

When we say 'we are a vacation rental like no other', we mean it! Where else will you get a free GPS-activated driving tour of Banff or use of a tablet, or a library of pillows carefully selected so every type of preference is accommodated? Where else is EVERY piece of furniture (except the sofabed) a work of art, lovingly designed by the artist-owner and crafted by artisans all over Canada?

And we haven't even mentioned the playpen, or the high chair for children, or the WALLS of glass showcasing the stunning mountain views. How about the exceptional downtown location where everything you could need is at your doorstep... grocery stores, cafes, art galleries, restaurants, even ATMs! We could go on and on... but we invite you instead to stay at Birch Haven, and let us know why YOU love our place!!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Wonderful vacation! Location of this condo is great. Very convenient to walk around town and visit parks on day trips. My teenage kids loved the balcony, hot tub and walks through town.

My husband (all of us actually) loved the walk to Tim Hortons! On our last day, we finally saw 3 grizzlies up around Lake Louise! Loved Lake Moraine (walking the rock pile) and the Columbia Icefields trip. The Radium Hotsprings weren't that great but the trip was pretty. Also, husband and son enjoyed golf at Canmore Golf Club.

We really enjoyed our stay at Birch Haven and the Canadian Rockies. That is a great location and the area is absolutely beautiful.

I can see how anyone who visits falls in love with the mountains! Thanks again for sharing your jewel in the Rockies. It was a great vacation!

feel like in heaven

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 16 nights in the cosy ,warm charming condo and felt so comfortable and overwelmed from the very special furnitures . we love the whirkpool and the fireplace is a our favourite ,specially after a skiing day. Very good supermarkets, wine stores and sports stores around , also good for shopping ,nice because closed to Banff, easy going with the garage and not to forgett the Gym, which I also liked to use for good exercises.

so we will recommend this lovley place .

we send best regards from austria ,where we also do have cosy Chalets and rustic Cottages in the mountains for rental

Excellent accommodations for couples visiting the Banff area. Well-equipped for cooking simple meals and perfectly situated within 5 minutes of two grocery stores. Partial mountain views and outside deck add to enjoyment.

Overstated amenities and lack of basic's!

  • 3 of 5

The positives - great location - central to Canmore, restaurants and river walks. Good view of the mountains. Good proximity to national parks!

My impression of this place is they are charging what the market will bear in terms of rental price but doing very little to insure the comfort of their guests. Bed's are a single mattress on top of plywood and blocks. Minimal supplies - toilet paper ran out day 4 and that was with a minimum # of people staying (two couples - a fifth person 2 nights). Coffee filters for a few days. Lack of everyday kitchen tools to prepare meals. We basically had a wooden spoon (took 4 days to find that) and a spatula. Yes there is cork screw and a few other gadgets - but please - a basic set of cooking utensils should be a given. One large saute pan - well I guess you can cook everything in one saute. The roof hot tub was down for maintenance 4 of our 7 nights. While the owners are very proud of their custom designed furniture - it is 'so' uncomfortable to sit on- basically birch sticks with a cotton chair pad. The park pass is great but we all went separate directions so ended up having to buy park passes several days. While they say it can sleep 7 - I sure wouldn't want to share this limited space with more than two couples - in terms of adults. Loved area - disapointed in the rental.

Beautiful and Clean with Gorgeous View - Great Location

  • 5 of 5

Six of us (4 adults, 2 children) stayed at Birch Haven penthouse last weekend for 2 nights. From the very beginning, the owner was very quick to respond to our inquiries prior to arriving and presented as very friendly. Our immediate impression was how large, clean and uniquely decorated it was. Huge picture window with a gorgeous view of the mountains was a big bonus and we loved the little balcony we had. (Be careful with the screen door - it's pretty finicky.)

There were very helpful notes and binders for us with clearly laid out rules and info that made for an easy transition into our vacation. While reading the binder, we were impressed upon discovering that all of the furniture and decorations were hand made by the owner themselves! (And if you really love it - they do commissions!)

We cooked a few meals in the kitchen and had all of the tools we needed to complete a great meal. Added bonus was having the dishwasher.

All equipment appeared new and in great condition.

Just two things to be aware of: even with a thermostat in the penthouse, it got very hot when trying to sleep. However, opening all the windows at night brought in beautiful fresh breezes that made it comfortable to sleep. Also, they provide a fan that we found best used in the upstairs loft bedroom.

The second thing is in regards to the upstairs loft bedroom - just be prepared that it is ALL open concept - including the toilet and tub! It was a little weird to have the toilet out in the open right near the top of the stairs facing the bed. None of the adults were comfortable using this so we put our two children in the loft bedroom where they had easy access to the toilet at night if they got up. Might I suggest to the owners to place a privacy screen separating the bedroom and toilet as one may feel a little less exposed. However, there IS a main full bathroom downstairs on the main floor for everyone's comfort.

Overall we had a great experience.

Thank you!

Great character in a perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay! Why stay in a boring, ikea-styled condo when you can enjoy the charm of this unique, two story condo!

The property is very close to a grocery store and a short walk (5-10 minutes) from all shops, restaurants and cafes! The tablet provided was super convenient for listening to music with supper! The hot tub area was fantastic and it is in an open area that provides amazing view and great stargazing on a clear night. The kitchen has some basic condiments, spices and sugar which was also a great convenience factor for morning tea!

The property was clean, well-maintained and the owners provided quick responses to all my e-mails. We'll definitely be coming back!

Nice Place

  • 3 of 5

Overall this place is nice. It has an amazing view of the mountains and is conveniently located by shops and close to downtown (within walking distance to everything) . The second bathroom is upstairs and is wide open in the loft, so you might not feel comfortable using it, depending on who you are sharing with. The biggest problem we had, was we were given the wrong code for the condo. It's always my worst fear that I am going to get scammed, so this was pretty concerning. Lucky they answered the phone and were able to give us the correct code. The other thing to keep in mind is the check-in time is pretty late, 5pm, and the check-out time is also early 10:30am.

Golf: With 6 world-class golf courses and 135 spectacular holes nearby, Canmore is a golfer's mecca.

Within a few minutes' drive of Birch Haven are three courses: Stewart Creek, Silvertip, and Canmore Golf & Curling Club.

Ski: This area is a famous for worldclass Skiing and Snowboarding on dry champagne powder.

Other accolades include Good Ski Magazine's '#1 Ski resort in North America' and Thomas Cook's 'Favorite Destination for British Skiers.'

Five downhill ski areas are within easy reach -- Banff's Norquay, Sunshine and Nakiska are within a 20-minute drive.

With over 30 feet of natural snow every year, Sunshine has one of the longest seasons in North America (mid November to mid May) and offers supreme skiing above the timber line.

Norquay, meanwhile, boasts the 'Best Fall Line Cruising,' according to Ski Canada magazine.

The ski resorts of Fortress and Lake Louise are 45 minutes away and feature breathtaking drives that are as highly recommended as the destination.

Notes:
Birch Haven is a vacation rental like no other... You will not find lacklustre 'rental-quality' furniture here. That is because Birch Haven was not furnished to be a vacation rental per se. It was meticulously decorated by the artist-owner to be a haven for rejuvenation. Every piece of antique barnwood and log furnishing is exquisite and custom crafted by artisans, making us a favorite for honeymooners and families wanting lodging that's a cut above the rest. Throughout the loft, you'll find touches that differentiate this place from any other vacation rental. Mood lighting at the flick of a switch. Wireless internet. An antique barnwood armoire brimming with games and travel guidebooks. A surround-sound home entertainment system with CDs and DVDs. Cookbooks in the gourmet kitchen. Even a 'library' of pillows, including featherbeds, fluffy down-alternatives, or firm foam orthopedic ones. Plus a portable crib/playpen and dining high chair for infants and toddlers.
