Overview

About the property

This rustic retreat, with breath taking views, is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, in Wilkes County, North Carolina on a private mountain. The chalet style cabin is tucked away high up in a gated community, just 20 minutes from Boone, and is the perfect place to relax as well as enjoy local attractions.

The Community features a clubhouse, relaxing waterfall, picnic areas, small stocked pond with bluegill, redear, sunfish, largemouth bass and channel catfish ready for the fisherman's hook (catch and release please) as well as many mountain biking, horse riding and hiking trails.

The cabin features include:

•Bears/Woodlands Themed Decor

•Sleeps 7

◦1 Queen Bed

◦1 Twin/Full Bunk bed

◦1 Queen pullout sofa

•2 full baths, with a large Jacuzzi tub in master bath

•Stone finished, gas log fireplace

•HIGH SPEED WI-FI and GREAT cellphone reception at the cabin for most major cell providers (rare in many areas of the mountains)

•Satellite HD - Flat screen TV in Living room area with DVD player, Master Bedroom Flat screen TV with Satellite TV/ DVD player, Spare bedroom with TV/DVD/ PlayStation 2 (with DVD Movies and games)

•CD/Radio/Clock under mounted in the kitchen

-Propane Gas BBQ Grill

Beds all have comforters/quilts, as well as extra throw blankets for your comfort. NO OTHER BED OR BATH LINENS ARE PROVIDED WITH RENTAL - YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN.

Cleaning Fee of $60.00 per stay- NO DAILY MAID SERVICE

Pet Fee $100.00 (if you bring Fluffy or Fido... THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED ON FURNITURE!!!)

The Community is approximately 12 miles outside of Wilkesboro, and the cabin is 6 miles up the mountain (on a partially paved and partially gravel road). During the warmer months all vehicles have easy access to the cabin, but an All-Wheel Drive / 4WD vehicle is helpful for winter months IF there is HEAVY snow for the safest travel.

Buck Mountain Community has some rules too. Dogs must be on leash when not on the premises and if unleashed at the cabin and outside, must respond to voice/hand recall they need to be leashed (for their safety from wildlife and that of the other residents and pets).

There is a Community Garbage Compactor, within the Buck Mountain Community, where guests are required to dispose of their own household trash.

NO Swimming/boating in the Pond or at Staghorn Falls water pooling area. (please mind other Community Posted signage and rules)

Know that this is a RUSTIC MOUNTAIN RETREAT- with all the beauty of nature that comes with the cabin, there are challenges and other gifts from mother nature. Storms can effect satellite TV and unexpected interruption to other utilities (ie. water is from a private well that can loose pressure, or have other issues, from time to time and cause a temporary loss of water service). Also natures little critters that tend to like to visit the cabin too…Lady Bugs usually present (due to Christmas Tree Farms in the area) as well as some other flying insect friends. Like most of the area, brown marmorated stink bugs can be a an issue. (As noted on many websites if you Google it for the mountains and other areas of NC. Google it) We do what we can, but this is part of what comes along with a property in the mountains.

Weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed the stay; off the beaten path, but we wanted the peace and quiet. Views were absolutely wonderful and we had clear nights with unbelievable star gazing. Clean, comfortable, relaxing. Great areas and activities are a relatively short drive. Cabin is 5 miles off the main road, through a gated area, and little to no traffic. Bed comfortable but we would rather have had a king; its upstairs and shower is downstairs but there is a large jacuzzi upstairs. Well-stocked kitchen and grill worked fine. Tammy is great with communication and information (thanks!). We would recommend this lovely cabin and would consider staying here again.

Owner's Response: So glad you all enjoyed your getaway to the mountains. I appreciate your complements and always love to hear recommendations to improve the cabin in the future. (The picnic table on the deck and indoor games for the kids came to be at the cabin were all suggestions from prior guest! ) Hope to welcome you back soon!

Beautiful view from a comfortable cabin.

  • 5 of 5

My family, including two big dogs, stayed in the cabin over Thanksgiving. All of us had a wonderful time. The cabin had everything we could want: expansive views of the mountains, cozy gas fireplace, hiking trails within walking distance, and an ample stocked kitchen. And my little boy was so excited to have a Jacuzzi tub for his bath! The gated community felt extra safe, and having a washing machine was excellent with two small boys. We enjoyed celebrating Thanksgiving there and the weather was perfect. Tammy was lovely and she has a beautiful spot in the mountains.

Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was very clean and well kept. The pictures of the views don't do it justice. They are absolutely breathtaking. The cabin is secluded which is exactly what we were looking for. Just make sure to follow the directions provided by the homeowner, or you'll end up lost on back roads like we did because GPS doesn't take you to the cabin! Also, the community the cabin is in has several trails and a beautiful waterfall! We had a great time and will be back!

Owner's Response: It’s always a pleasure to hear from guests how much they enjoyed their stay at the cabin and enjoyment of the community / area. I try to warn everyone that some GPS devices aren’t always accurate in the mountains. I’m sorry you had an unexpected adventure getting to the cabin, but found it to be everything you wanted in a get away and more. Autumn is amazing at the cabin, as well as the other seasons with their own inquire beauty. I look forward to welcoming back anytime.

Great Place for R and R

  • 5 of 5

The view is great and we rarely heard anything more than birds and crickets . It feels like you're in the middle of nowhere, like you've gone back in time, and yet you're only 20 minutes from town. Great place and I hope to visit again soon.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed the cabin and its views. Each season brings its own unique beauty that can be fully enjoyed at the cabin. Like you mentioned, 20 minutes from town and not much farther to Appalachian, Sugar and Beech Mountain, if you visit during the winter months and want to ski, snow board, tube or ice skate. I hope to welcome you back soon!

Very nice home for a quiet getaway.

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 was looking for a quiet weekend in the mountains to unplug and spend some quality time together. The home and location were perfect. Close enough to Boone/Blowing Rock for a hike, then back for a beautiful sunset - the home faces west and it was terrific. The road in and out of the community to the home is 15 mins or so - but worth it. We hope to be back soon.

Beautiful view

  • 3 of 5

This is a very nice cabin with a beautiful view. It is 20 minutes from any grocery/convenience store or restaurant. Our only complaint is the mattress on the master bed was worn out---- roll to the middle, bad for the back.

Owner's Response: Happy you enjoyed the cabin and views. It truely is a place to get-away from it all. I also thank you for letting me know about the mattress, it has already been replaced with a Serta iComfort hybrid ( memory foam and innerspring combo) firm mattress and new foundation as well. I appreciate knowing the things my guests enjoyed, as well as what can be improved to make the cabin a better vacation home.
