The Community is 12 miles outside of Wilkesboro, and the cabin is 6 miles up the mountain (on a partially paved and partially gravel road). During the warmer months all vehicles have easy access to the cabin, but an All-Wheel Drive / 4WD vehicle is helpful for winter months IF there is HEAVY snow for the safest travel.

Buck Mountain Community has some rules too. Dogs must be on leash when not on the premises and if unleashed at the cabin and outside, must respond to voice/hand recall they need to be leashed (for their safety from wildlife and that of the other residents and pets).

There is a Community Garbage Compactor, within the Buck Mountain Community, where guests are required to dispose of their own household trash.

NO Swimming in the Pond or at Staghorn Falls water pooling area. (please mind other Community Posted signage and rules)

Know that this is a MOUNTAIN RETREAT- with all the beauty of nature that comes with the cabin, there natures little critters that tend to like to visit the cabin too…Lady Bugs usually present (due to Christmas Tree Farms in the area) as well as some other flying insect friends. ( Like most of the area, brown marmorated stink bugs can be a an issue. (As noted on many websites if you Google it for the mountains and other areas of NC. See link We do what we can, but this is part of what comes along with a property in the mountains.

We could have picked anywhere to go for our honeymoon and we decided on the cabin, which turned out to be the best choice. We stayed for two weeks and never ran out of thing's to do. The cabin has the most gorgeous view. This will foreverify be a great memory for this this milestone in our life.

Excellent for getaway weekend

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here earlier this month for a weekend getaway. We had a wonderful stay in this cozy cabin -- you can tell that the owner, Tammy, has very thoughtfully outfitted this well-maintained cabin with just about everything you'd need for a weekend, and was very clear about what we'd need to bring (only our food and linens). The cabin is nicely secluded in a gated community, and as a result, was very quiet and peaceful. We also enjoyed walking around the community's fishing pond and on the short waterfall trail nearby. Tammy was very responsive and provided very helpful details and directions prior to our arrival. Overall, we had an enjoyable experience -- we'd recommend it!

Wonderful Cabin and Breathtaking Views

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 really enjoyed our Thanksgiving weekend at Tammy's cabin. The minute we arrived and walked out to the deck my stress level dropped about 100% when I saw the beautiful mountain vista! The Cabin was the perfect size for our family and I was able to prepare our Thanksgiving dinner in the kitchen with the Jennaire stove and have a relaxing holiday. The nights were chilly so we enjoyed the ease of the gas fireplace and we have 2 kids who were happy with all the TV channels on direct TV and the DVD collection at the cabin. Our family enjoyed excursions to Blowing Rock, Boone, and the Moses Cone house on the Blue Ridge Parkway which were all about a 20-30 minute drive from the cabin and easy to get to. I will say that we did feel secluded in the Buck Mountain community but we also felt close to many things so it was a good balance for a cabin getaway. The whole process when booking the cabin was very smooth and Tammy provided a lot of good information before we arrived so we had no problems at all. It really was a great cabin experience and our family will cherish the memories of our Thanksgiving there. Thanks again Tammy!

Great Family Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family decided to take a last minute weekend getaway to celebrate Thanksgiving early. This cabin was perfect for just that! We had enough room for 3 couples and a 2 year old. We didnt feel cramped at all. It is literally up a mountain 20 minutes from everything which was great. The view itself is worth the drive to town! The kitchen was well stocked with pans and dishes; enough for even our entire Thanksgiving meal. There is no doubt that we will be back to stay and have already recommended this cabin to 2 of our church families! The owner, Tammy, was very easy to work with and went out of her way to stock her cabin with all of the extras that you won't find anywhere else!

Owner's Response: It is so nice to hear how much you all enjoyed the cabin. I try to keep the cabin equipt with all the things anyone may need to make a memorable vacation and make the cabin feel like a "home away" from home. I make additions and improvements based on feedback from all my guests. So please let me know if there is anything you would like to see on your next visit ;)

Secluded Spectacular View!!

  • 5 of 5

We came to the mountains to enjoy the fall foliage. This cabin has the best long range views of any place we have ever rented. This visit the views and fall color from the cabin were as good or better then anything we found driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway. (about 20 mins. from the cabin) The cabin itself is very clean and comfortable. We hardly saw any other people or vehicles. Our golden retrievers mind well, so we let them run loose a little... just around the cabin and they had a blast as well. We would definitely stay here again. We had such a nice weekend...I would not change a thing.
