Little Piece of Heaven

  • 5 of 5

Betty's Camp was everything we had hoped for and more! Beautiful view of the water, with all the amenities including 2 paddle boats, row boat, canoe, rafts and floats. Many lasting memories were made in this large rustic camp with the huge screened in porch. Lovely wild flowers were blooming in the gardens and the geraniums in the window boxes were stunning. Dallas and Emily (the owners) are fantastic! You won't find anything disappointing when you arrive...we didn't want to leave this little piece of Heaven. We'll definitely be coming back to Camp Betty!

Owner's Response: We have enjoyed making Camp Betty a fun family-oriented place to stay, complete with games, books, and puzzles. The gardens and window boxes make the camp picture perfect, and the fire pit is a great place to congregate and enjoy everyone's daily stories in the evening. We are glad that you had such a wonderful time, and are looking forward to seeing you again next year!

Relaxing, Peaceful, and Fun!

  • 5 of 5

Camp Betty was the perfect spot for three generations of our family. Some of us spent a lot of time in the hammock or lawn chairs reading and chatting and some of us spent a lot of time in the paddle boats or building frog forts at the waterfront. Dallas and Emily were wonderful hosts--friendly and accessible. Strongly recommend for a family vacation.

Camp Betty was great!!!

My family had a great week at Camp Betty. It had everything we needed and Emily and Dallas were great hosts. The water is crystal clear and the fishing was great. We hope to return again.

Owner's Response: Dallas and his Dad also love fishing and catching large-mouth bass. The water is amazing, and is like silk to swim in. It is spring-fed, and sometimes you come into cool water spots, and you know that's where a spring is! We're glad you enjoyed your stay at Camp Betty, and we're looking forward to seeing you again next year!

Cheerful home on lovely lake

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful and restful visit at Camp Betty. Dallas and Emily were very welcoming and right next door if we needed anything during our time. The house was comfortable and we spent time reading and playing board games. We enjoyed the kayak and exploring the grounds. We also had many fun games of croquet and bocce on the expansive lawn and at night enjoyed roasting marshmallows over the fire pit. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Women's "Time Out Camp"

  • 5 of 5

Three of my friends and I needed some "time out", so we booked a week for R 'n R at Camp Betty. it was perfect for what we wanted & needed- time away from responsibilities and family. We each had our own bedroom, and the large porch was enjoyed! We had evening campfires, listened to the loons & birds, read summer novels, swam in the clear water, made new friends with some of the neighbors, played card & board games, did puzzles, had cocktails and told stories. We had some funny mishaps paddling the canoes, took walks, delighted in morning meanderings in the paddle boats, and even did some fishing from the rowboat. The weather was ideal! The grocery store is not too far away, and there are restaurants nearby, too. We all agreed that it was a great respite from everything, and we would recommend it for other gal pals who might need a "Time Out Week". .

The camp was wonderful, as nice and better than the photos posted. It was clean, well appointed, roomy, had a nice lay-out for activities (play, dining, sleeping, hammock) The waterfront has a nice shallow area for wading, and gradual deeper water for swimming. We also enjoyed hanging out in our deck chairs on the dock. The hosts provided us with fishing equipment, and they provided us with some items that we needed, but had forgotten.

Our hosts told us about "Red Barn", a famous seafood restaurant in Augusta, so we had some delicious fried clams, lobster rolls, fried vegetables, and award-winning seafood chowder there.

A lovely stay at Camp Betty

  • 5 of 5

The house and area is beautiful, even better than the pictures. The hosts are lovely and very accommodating. The porch is perfect for relaxing with a lovely view of the pond. There are plenty of boats for exploring the pond, as well as a floating dock on the other side which is perfect for a swim (the water in front of the dock is a bit mucky and shallow for swimming, but great for wading with the fish and floating around.) The firepit is amazing and very large. The property is fairly new and still has a few quirks to be finished/worked out but nothing that detracted from our stay. The property is in an area that feels very remote, but is very conveniently located near many amenities. We all thoroughly enjoyed our time at Camp Betty and would consider it for future getaways!

About Emily or Dallas

We are avid gardeners, we love DIY-ing, and our summer properties give us enough projects to last from spring to fall! We have a nice camp neighborhood, with good friends.

Emily or Dallas purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Emily or Dallas chose Sidney

Dallas grew up in the area, and used to come to Ward Pond to visit friends. As an adult, a property came up for sale, and a purchase was made. The adjoining property became available, so Dallas and Emily purchased it, and named it "Camp Betty" to honor Emily's mother. The decision was made to fix it up as a guest cottage and rental property.

What makes this cottage unique

The camp has views of the back cove, we named "Doaky Cove." It is quiet and private, and afternoon stretches on for days.Full length porch. Screen house. Hammock. Dock. Sandy swimming area. Sunny mornings drinking coffee on the front deck. Horseshoe tournaments. Campfires. Lazy. Hazy. Crazy. Days of Summer..

Camp Betty is a wonderful venue for either getting away from it all, or using it as a resting place from travelling to other Maine activities. Some people might like to stay on the porch all day and read, paint, bird-watch, do puzzles, write or nap. There is a horseshoe pit, a lawn for badminton, bocce ball, lawn darts, or whatever lawn games you bring. There is a paddle boat, canoe, and small rowboat at your disposal. Snorkeling, swimming, fishing and bicycling are fun. There's the State Museum, Maine Music Camp with Sunday concerts, Ballard Horseback Farm, Belgrade Golf Club, Lakewood and Brunswick Summer Theaters, Hallowell and Gardiner waterfront concerts, Augusta Dance Academy, sidewalk art shows in Augusta, Winthrop, Gardiner, Hallowell, and Waterville, lots of restaurants to try-some favorites being Sunset Grill, Wing's Hill Inn, & Village Inn in Belgrade, Red Barn seafood in Augusta, Slates and The Liberal Cup in Hallowell, shopping at the Freeport outlets is 40 minutes away(L.L. Bean), The Senator Day Spa in Augusta, and there's always something interesting going on all summer within 30 miles.
