Would wholeheartedly recommend again. Great location and fantastic house for a group!
Our multi-generational family group of fourteen, ranging in age from 13 to 82, spent the New Year's weekend in this beautiful home. The house is nicely appointed and comfortable, with enough space for both togetherness and room to breathe. Two bedrooms on the main floor made it easy for those who preferred to avoid stairs to do so. We appreciated the hot tub, the grill, the board games, puzzles and the proximity to the beach - the hearty among us had a wonderful, if chilly, walk by the lake to kick off the new year. The coach house is as lovely as the main house, and afforded some extra privacy for one of the couples. We are already discussing our next visit, perhaps in the summer. Joanne is responsive and accommodating; this is a great place to get away.
Our group of 14 plus a baby had a fantastic time- lots of space, plenty of games and puzzles, and warm and cozy spaces in the hot tub and by the fire. Thanks for a wonderful space.
I got married over this past Thanksgiving and we used the main house and guest house to house our in-laws and friends (6 adults and 2 small children). The space couldn't have been more perfect for entertaining, cooking, and spending time together! There were lots of boardgames, great rooms for the kids, plenty of yard space to run around in and we loved the coach house so much (beautiful lofted ceilings, big dining room table table, couch and buffet area) that we decided to host our rehearsal dinner there. Would definitely visit again and again and again.
We had an amazing time having a friends-getaway here. It's extremely comfortable and cozy with great living spaces where we could all gather to play games, cook meals, and spend time together. Each of the rooms have a unique feel and the house itself has so much character. It's truly the perfect place to go to spend time with the people you love.
For the second year in a row, our extended family (6 adults and 7 kids) got together for a relaxing week in Gowdy Shores. The Coach House (a place to let some kids feel more independent) and the screened-in deck (for dinner every night) were highlights. The hot tub was also a hit. (The basketball court was down this year, unfortunately. Last year, we made good use of it.) The walk to the beach isn't bad, and having access to an association beach (for bonfires at night, for example) is key. The gas grill could probably use an upgrade, but it's fine. There's loads of room upstairs, plenty of bathrooms, and a nice deck for sitting outside. But, of course, the key is the beautiful dunegrass-lined beach . . .
Located just 0.4 miles from the private beach. To access the private beach head NE on 2nd St. to Ward St. Head W towards water. A small pedestrian path will lead you to beach.
To access the public beach take Lakeshore to Township. Township West to beach.
Dine at fabulous nearby restaurants, shop in town, visit parks and wineries, and enjoy water activities on the lake (wave runners, kayaking, paddle boards, etc). In the fall, enjoy the nearby pumpkin patches, pick your own apples at the local orchards, watch the sun set over the lake and enjoy the rustle of the vibrant leaves. Winter is amazing as well - cozy up to the fire, ski at several nearby resorts, sled, and ice skate. Take a look at the map- there are wonderful restaurants/cafes, ice cream shops, Spas, as well as the Four Winds Casino all near by :)
