About Sylvia

When I was 2 yrs old I jumped off the dock on Waneta Lake and scared my mother to death. It was just the beginning of an adventuresome & exciting life that I was going to experience every summer. I have so many fond memories and valued all the friendships that I developed especially my water skiing buddies. We competed and traveled NY to several competitions and I earned my expert rating in slalom and was offered a job by Cypress Gardens. The lake will always be close to my heart even though I can't be there as much now since living in Florida. Renting it out gives other people the wonderful opportunity that I have so enjoyed and now they can experience also.

Sylvia purchased this cottage in 2003

Why Sylvia chose Keuka Lake

It was my lifelong dream of owning my own place on the lake and I was fortunate that my family always owned this place and it has been passed down through the generations. My children also have a love for the lake and the best thing this past summer was seeing my 5 yr old grandson getting up on the ski sled that my kids used when they were young.

What makes this cottage unique

It is so conveniently located to the many attractions that surround the lake that you will never be bored. You can either just be lazy and float on your raft or jump in the car to go shopping, sightseeing, races at Watkins Glen or just enjoy the beautiful fall leaves on the hillside that surrounds the lake.

Would return again and again!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, our two kids (3 and 2), and I spent a wonderful and relaxing 8 days at Twin Oaks the week of July 4th. I cannot say enough about what a perfect experience it was, from booking with Sylvia right down to the very last minute there. Sylvia is kind, available to answer your every question before/after your stay and really goes above and beyond to assure you have a great stay. We have two small children and the place was perfect. It has a nice little beach/swimming hole, and Sylvia even let us use the high chair and Pack n Play so we didn't need to travel with ours. On a rainy morning, we were able to put Disney on for the kids. We've rented houses before and never has one been more kid-friendly. The kitchen was fully equipped with all the odds and ends you could need. Neighbors were friendly. Quiet country road was perfect for family walks after dinner or in the wee hours of the morning with my toddler. Though I don't relish laundry on vacation, the washer/dryer was a huge plus to wash towels mid-week. Lake is great. Not as large as many Finger Lakes, but plenty large enough for lots of boating, kayaking, fishing and water ski activity. Best part of the week besides splashing with the kids was coffee and a glass of wine with an unbeatable view. We will absolutely be back. I highly recommend this rental for families and non-families alike. Thank you, Sylvia!

The Perfect Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Wow...we loved it at Twin Oaks. We were there for one week and traveled with our twin 10 month old girls and 4 year old. Family visited for the first couple of nights then we had the cottage to ourselves. Twin Oaks had everything we needed...Sylvia even provided two pack n plays so we didn't have to lug one up. It's close to so much...we hiked, ate out, went wine tasting, and when we didn't want to go anywhere (it's hard with two babies!) the kayaks, row boat, rafts, tubes, movies, fire pit...all the extra touches kept us busy. We even brought up an outdoor movie projector, hung a sheet on the center deck and watched a movie outside our last night. It was the best week I'll remember fondly for a long time. My son keeps asking when we can go back...me too!

Awesome view and amenities!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great time at this cottage on the lake. The cottage had everything we needed. The kitchen had plenty of utensils and cooking accessories! We loved using the kayaks, row boat and bicycles. The view was so relaxing. The cottage had three levels of deck/view. We used all three! The lakefront level has plenty of seats to sit around the fire pit. The other levels had plenty of chairs and tables to eat and relax and enjoy the scenery. The bedrooms were comfortable too! The cottage is well maintained and Sylvia was amazing. Also. there were personal flotation devices for use, a few fishing rods, extra chairs and more. I highly recommend this property and we hope to return again. Thanks Sylvia!!!

Lovely cottage on the lake! Highly recommend

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to the finger lakes area and will not be our last. We loved the cottage on the lake. My husband and I brought our two girls for Memorial Day weekend and had a great time. The cottage is lovely. Nice bedrooms and very comfortable living area. The decks on the lake were a fav. We Ate meals on the deck every day and enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings. There was also a rowboat we used to fish on the lake. Lots of great fishing for the kids right from the house. The area is beautiful. Watkins glen hike is a must. Farm sanctuary is also nearby. The neighbors were also very nice. We enjoyed chatting with them each day. Sylvia was great to deal with. She was very helpful and keeps everything in order. I would highly recommend this place and the area.

So glad that I found this place! The owner is extremely nice and shows that she really wants you to enjoy yourself. The house was very clean which is very important to me. This house is located on a beautiful lake the owner provided everything you need both inside and out, the kayaks and row boat was a nice plus for us. Thanks for a wonderful place for me and my family to stay while visiting Watkins Glen, we will be back!

Waneta Lake, perfect spot

  • 5 of 5

Waneta Lake was the perfect size lake for our two families. The boat dock right off the back of the property was perfect. Could swim on one side and fish on the other. The owner takes a lot of pride in the property with spectacular upkeep. The lake was right in between Kueka and Seneca Lakes. Short drive to Watkins Glenn and many wineries. Would highly recommend to anyone who want to sit and relax and enjoy being right on the lake.
