Great getaway! Very cozy!

  • 5 of 5

Clean and comfortable. A beautiful location, with all amenities close by. We were not in the heart of a busy city, so it was quiet, just the way we like it!

As always with a VRBO, you have all the conveniences of home, and the feel of home.

We absolutely loved it, and would recommend it to anyone.

Thank you, Dehlia!

Not quite so charming country cottage

  • 2 of 5

The Good: The Cottage is located off a major road making it very good for accessing the beautiful Frazer Valley. Cottage is clean, working kitchen with all the basics, older pots and pans, limited flatware, cups & glasses. Was able to prepare all of our meals. Nice bedroom and bathroom, small washer/dryer combination. Great hot water. Was able to bring our dog.

The Bad: The over stuffed chair and sofa provide zero support. Two hard back chairs have worn seat support. Furniture was extremely uncomfortable making it impossible to relax. Bathroom fan didn't work. Couldn't get TV reception. Was able to use Netflix, though was repeatedly knocked off the system while trying to watch movies. Water pressure is low. No where to walk our dog.The swallows have used the area outside the back door as a toilet. Wasn't able to sit out on the back porch because of the mosquitoes.

The Ugly: Heat was an issue. Even with the curtains closed, the cabin heated up horribly. We ended up driving to Mission and purchasing a fan which we used when we were in the cottage, made it tolerable. The MOSQUITOES were horrible! We were repeatedly bitten both outside and inside the cottage. Even limiting entrances and exits, and minimizing door openings the voracious winged hunters found and fed upon us.

We had originally rented the cottages for 4 nights, ended up forfeiting a day and leaving early because of the uncomfortable furnishings, heat and over abundant and zealous mosquitoes!

Owner's Response: This is the first bad review since I have rented the cottage. All other reviews have been positive. I am sorry that this rental did not match the guests needs We strive to provide a unique country experience and the cottage is deliberately decorated in a vintage and antique style including the authentic 1930's couch. The swallows are protected birds and their removal is not allowed. The water is a gravity fed pristine spring water that is pure and delicious. The view is spectacular and the cottage is adequately fitted with all necessary items in the kitchen and living areas. Unfortunately the guest came at a time when there was a lot of mosquitoes in the area due to high river levels. There were none in the cottage when it was rented to her so she must have left the doors open. As far as the heat which was unseasonably warm, it does state in the listing that no air conditioning is provided and keeping the curtains on the back closed would have helped considerably. As far as the dog, we do allow dogs but expect the owner to keep the dog off of the furniture and keep their dog in a groomed condition. The guests left the cottage in a terrible mess with white dog hair all over the furniture and every where. We had to pay our cleaning lady for an extra 2 hours to vacuum the dog hair and we are still finding it. There was garbage left every where in the cottage as well. It also states in our listing that their is no TV provided but there is Netflix and wireless internet. Most people find great things to do in the neighborhood and aren't concerned with staying at the cottage all day and watching TV. I believe that this guest in future should check out more carefully before they book and possibly consider a more mainstream rental like a large chain hotel. We prefer to have guests stay that appreciate the ambience and amenities of the cottage. If I had known how this would turn out, I would have forfeited this guest. Dehlia

Wonderful Place! We loved every minute here.

  • 5 of 5

The house is exactly as described. We enjoyed sitting on the porch for morning coffee, watching the birds and mountains. Very relaxing place. It is only 15 minutes away from Harrison Hot Springs with a lot of restaurants and activities there. We recommend the house for every couple for get away vacation or simply the weekend. Thank you, Dahila!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed the deck and remote feeling even with the hwy close by. Bedroom has great view. Opened my eyes every morning to something different. Sasquatch inn a must for pouring. The Black Forest in Harrison got springs was great for German food. We happened to time our outings early enough to miss crowds, cause they will happen. Great cabin!
