|Minimum Stay||7 nights|
BOAT REQUIRED as this is an unbridged island property with a southwest exposure and views into Orchard Cove, The Broads, Rattlesnake Island and views of the Belknap Mountain Range. Get away from it all yet everything is near by. Seven towns line the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee. Yes, you can shop by boat and several restaurants have docks where you can tie-up. Swim from the dock to a swim platform, play horseshoes, enjoy the evening by the fire pit, hike the interior of the island, there is a canoe, two kayaks and gas grill available. Close to town dock (Union Wharf at 19 Mile Bay) that you can use as a launching point with parking spots available to be reserved. Great room with fireplace, master bedroom with fireplace and window seat, fully equipped kitchen with granite counter tops and a lot of deck space. One of the best lake houses out on the islands. This is located on Cow Island.
What a perfect vacation for our family at this beautiful property! In over 20 years of renting on both the Cape and the lake, we have never been in a home more lovingly maintained. Both inside and out, everything was at our disposal for a fun-filled vacation, from s'mores cooked over the fire pit to multiple kayaks for joint excursions around the Cow Island shoreline. The owner couldn't have been more helpful, meeting us at 19 Mile Bay to guide us back to his property and showing us all that was available when we reached the property. Never having rented on an island before, the experience exceeded our expectations and we hope to have another opportunity for island living some day soon.
Can't say enough about this home and its location on Cow Island. The owners were very helpful- met us at the public launch and escorted our boat to their home. They even had a permit for our car so we could park near the public boat ramp. As soon as we stepped off our boat onto the dock at the property, we knew we found someplace special. We were welcomed with a bottle of wine and all the fixins for s'mores to be roasted at the outdoor fire pit. The house is lovely- wonderfully decorated and big enough to accomodate our party of 8 with plenty of room to stretch out. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed including an ice maker and extra beverage refrigerator. We especially loved the outdoor shower (no one used the indoor showers...) and the window box full of herbs for cooking. Plenty of outdoor seating on the deck surrounding the house overlooking Orchard Cove. SW exposure provided great happy hours and sunsets. We used the kayaks and canoe for early morning and late evening paddles. When the kids got tired of swimming or exploring the island, the loft was equipped with plenty of games and puzzles.
We got off the island a few times for shopping and dining (15-20 minute boat ride to Wolfeboro) while ice cream/ boat fuel as close as 10 minutes but would have been equally happy to just relax at the property--preferably on the hammock! Would definitely recommend this property and hope to return again!
This property on Cow Island is facing South and West from within Orchard Cove. It gets great sun during the day and is accessible to the whole lake. This region is a fantastic summer playground for outdoor enthusiasts. There are numerous hiking trails on the island. Bring your gear for water skiing and tubing so you can take advantage of the added protection of Orchard Cove right outside your door.
Other Activities: canoe, kayak, horseshoes
