Spring River fun! fishing time, hiking, hunting or relax and enjoy

Bedrooms 4
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

4 bedrooms, 1 bath, sleeps 7

The house has wonderful views of the Moyie River, just 50 feet from the double porches [upstairs and main floor]. Big windows and glass doors keep the feel of the wilderness that is evident across the river and around the house. Viewing of wildlife is a normal state of affairs at River Haven, from nesting Merganser Ducks to turkey, many birds, elk, moose, bear, and of course deer! The kitchen is fully equipped w/ dishwasher and all other conveniences as well as all cooking and baking needs. Washer and dryer are available as well as satellite T.V. The clean bathroom is large w/ tub/shower, fluffy large towels, clean shower curtains [changed for each stay]. Upstairs large bedroom has a new Queen Englander mattress w/ sitting area and deck facing river. The main floor has a room that can be made private with a new plush double futon. The great views of the river continue here. The comfortable living room has a wood stove and opens to the porch over-looking the river. No grill, fire pit w/ lots of wood.

Outside is a new beautiful small cabin w/ double bed complete with a small wood stove. The house does not have cell service, does have a landline, but no long distance ( best to bring a calling card for out of area calls)

There is easy rafting / tubing accessibility. Makes the floating / fishing fun from the start. One can just float down to the bridge and walk back to cabin [3/4 mile] or to Copper Creek Campground and walk back [1.5 miles] or take a many mile float.

Fish the river out front for native trout and whitefish waiting for dinner whiles away the time. Fishing lakes are as close at Robinson Lake, 4 miles, it is also a productive ice fishing spot. Sinclair Lake {6 miles] is small but well stocked. Brush Lake, about 10 miles, is great fishing! The list goes on for fishing lakes and water fun.

Hunting here is prime for bear, elk, moose, deer, turkey, foul, and wolves during their seasons. Hunting is out the back door, or a short 1/4 mile to National Forest. There are many open roads in the National Forests and State lands that are close to the property. Great accessibility to areas hunters might want to hike into.

Copper Falls is a fun state park for a short day hike, 3 miles or a challenging winter ice climb.

Come have a relaxing visit or an exciting time in pursuit of the outdoor adventures at River Haven!

Supplies and Great Food just 5 miles away at Wild Horse Mercantile.

About Lee Harris/ manager

We both love the out doors. Charlie is a Fisheries Biologist and a successful hunter and fisherman. He is an avid gardener ( will share his organic produce) on request, he will guide fishing or certain types of hunting. Lee is a stone sculptor and oil painter, as in evidenced in her rock garden. They both ask that the wild flowers be enjoyed in their natural state and most not be picked ( wild Tiger Lilies, Trilliums, Lady Slippers). The River is a wonderful peaceful playground. We are happy to share it with you.

Deep Forest Tranquility .....and....the Comforts of Home

  • 5 of 5

First impression is the excellence of accommodations. You look around the tidy woods house and want for nothing. Check out the yard and you'll discover the river just beyond the lovely old trees. The river just invites rafting or fly fishing.

One happy moment for me was after inventorying the many types of wildflowers blooming and retiring to front deck , hearing and then seeing a young moose try to sneak across the front yard.

The light changes drastically from moment to moment due to the tree plantings. A photographer can't put his camera down.

A comfortable retreat from our city life.

  • 4 of 5

This place was a comfortable place for our family of five, including three boys ages 15, 12 and 6. Lots of outdoor activities around this area and we particularly enjoyed Copper Falls. The accommodations were good. The kitchen had everything you needed. The living areas were clean with no dead bugs or mouse droppings, yay! The bathroom needs a little upgrading but was doable. We were not aware of the trains that would be coming and going all day right across the river. It worked out because our city boys enjoyed seeing the trains. Overall, a fun time was had by all.

Rustic Getaway on the Moyie River

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect place to escape from cell phones and e-mail and enjoy a stay in the woods! There was a love seat swing to sit and listen to the river, we watched the sun rise and heard the birds from the upstairs master bedroom, we made a fire every night and roasted marshmallows for s'mores, and our kids tubed down the river a zillion times! Our teen son claimed the yurt cabin room for himself and our daughters enjoyed the separate bedroom on the main floor. We all sat on the back deck and played cards every afternoon and Lee and Charlie supplied plenty of firewood to sit and talk around a fire every night. This was "glamping" at its finest! We drove 2 miles across the hiway and hiked 1/2 mile to the Copper Creek waterfall - it was beautiful! We also drove through the border and explored Creston in Alberta, Canada. The cabin is less than 1 mile from the border and the views are spectacular!

Beautiful location and great house.

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time. The house was very clean and had everything we could possibly need. The property was beautiful and very private, yet so close to hiking areas and having the river right in the front yard was awesome.

I would reccommend this rental to anyone.

The only minor issues we had were:

There was no barbeque grill on the property (as is listed in the available amenities)

The fire pit was in an awkward area, on a path in between high weeds and very unlevel ground. ( very difficult to have more tha 2 chairs around the fire).

Other than that, everything was wonderful!!!!!!!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the heads up on the BBQ (neglected to take off site. A past renter used charcoal in if and we needed to remove it for safety (glad they were safe as BBQ was hooked to propane at time, but off! ! Taken under advisement, location of fire pit. Was actually used years ago as outdoor cooking at little cabin We'll build another in a more convenient location. For group fire enjoyment The compliment on house and river access to us that is most important! .thanks!

Great place to disconnect

  • 5 of 5

This is a great place to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of life. The river is less than 100 yards away and just the sound of it is wonderful.

We will be staying here again very soon.

Perfect size, clean, peaceful surroundings

  • 5 of 5

My family, which included 2 teen boys, stayed at River Haven for a week. It was a long drive from the Spokane airport, but well worth it. River Haven is a clean, safe cabin style house right on the river. It is very spacious and included everything we needed. I was worried about it only having one bathroom, (the focus being again on my 2 teen boys) but it wasn't a problem at all. The bathroom is quite large with updated fixtures. The property and surroundings are well maintained. We had a very relaxing vacation. If we're ever up around that part of Idaho again, we will definitely stay here. we had a wonderful, wonderful, stay. Thanks Lee!

If anyone is staying close to Bonners Ferry, I recommend staying here. It's a little further drive north, (a mile from the Canadian border), but you'll have a confortable relaxing stay.
