About Kate

We were so lucky to buy this home in the Bayou St. John neighborhood with our friends John and Debra, who live in Ohio. We have done significant renovations to the house that makes it such a comfortable and pleasant place to stay.

Kate purchased this apartment in 2008

Why Kate chose Esplanade Ridge

Bayou St. John is one of the most popular neighborhoods in New Orleans. Everyone wants to live here. We know you will agree after you have stayed with us.

What makes this apartment unique

We enjoy sitting on the porch and enjoying the neighborhood atmosphere. Since there are so many choices of restaurants and things to do, we rarely have to get in the car to go anywhere. If we do go to the quarter or downtown restaurants we can easily get a cab for about $15 or take a leisurely ride on the streetcar.

Clean, convenient, lovely neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

This is the place to stay like a local. Down the street from a beautiful park, museum, grocer, coffee shop, restaurants, laundromat, trolley and busline. $3.00 a day gets you unlimited access to public transportation. Around the corner, Liuzanne's had THE BEST gumbo. We ate here out first night and their gumbo ruined us for all other gumbo. Those are strong words in a gumbo-filled city! Apt was comfortable and cozy. My husband and I had a terrific time. We would definitely stay here again!

Great and safe location. Everything you need within walking distance. Having a car was nice but we did use the streetcars and uber. Kitchen was well stocked. Very clean and enjoyed our stay.

Real New Orleans Experience!!

  • 5 of 5

We came here for a REAL NOLA experience and staying at the Fest Nest was the perfect place to make that happen!! It was an easy walk to the Canal St Streetcar, and on the walk you pass several local restaurants and the beautiful St. Louis Cemetery No. 3 as you walk under tall oaks in a beautiful neighborhood. The streetcar is at the entrance to the NO Museum of Art, City Park, and the beginning of the bayou - make sure you walk the park - (there is also a 24 hour place in there where you can get beignets). If you prefer to Uber, you can get a car within 5 minutes anytime night or day, and you will only pay $7 - $11 to get to any location in the area. The house is wonderful!! Everything is in great shape, the A/C is cold, the bed is comfortable, the kitchen has everything you will need and is clean, the towels are plush, the shower is hot, and the decor will immerse you into the New Orleans Mardi Gras and Jazz groove (tune the stereo to WWOZ 90.7 and get into it!) Don't forget to take some time to sit on the front porch under the ceiling fan with some beignets and watch the world go by - this is the Big Easy after all! Thank you Kate! We will be back . . . again and again!! Beth & John

What a Gem!

  • 5 of 5

It doesn't get any better than the "Fest Nest". This perfectly located, quaint and cozy little property is the perfect pick for a stay in NOLA. The interior is very well maintained and decorated and gives you a true NOLA feel. My husband and I both agreed that staying here was so much better than staying at a hotel! Kudos to the owner Kate, she really thinks of all of the details to make her guests stay enjoyable. We LOVED and can't wait to get back!!

Comfy Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This apartment had everything I could possibly need for an enjoyable stay. The king size bed was extremely comfortable with soft pillows, large bathroom, and fully stocked kitchen. There was a storm expected and Kate called to alert us. I would recommend this place for anyone that is a regular visitor to NOLA.

We had a great stay!

  • 5 of 5

The property is exactly like advertised. Very clean, beautiful decor, quiet and comfortable.

We loved sitting on the porch and being able to walk to several coffee shops and many restaurants. It is a very walkable area with the Bayou and City Park only a 15 minute walk away. We would definitely stay here again!
