We were so lucky to buy this home in the Bayou St. John neighborhood with our friends John and Debra, who live in Ohio. We have done significant renovations to the house that makes it such a comfortable and pleasant place to stay.
Kate purchased this Apartment in 2008
Why Kate chose Esplanade Ridge
Bayou St. John is one of the most popular neighborhoods in New Orleans. Everyone wants to live here. We know you will agree after you have stayed with us.
What makes this Apartment unique
We enjoy sitting on the porch and enjoying the neighborhood atmosphere. Since there are so many choices of restaurants and things to do, we rarely have to get in the car to go anywhere. If we do go to the quarter or downtown restaurants we can easily get a cab for about $15 or take a leisurely ride on the streetcar.

Clean, convenient, lovely neighborhood
This is the place to stay like a local. Down the street from a beautiful park, museum, grocer, coffee shop, restaurants, laundromat, trolley and busline. $3.00 a day gets you unlimited access to public transportation. Around the corner, Liuzanne's had THE BEST gumbo. We ate here out first night and their gumbo ruined us for all other gumbo. Those are strong words in a gumbo-filled city! Apt was comfortable and cozy. My husband and I had a terrific time. We would definitely stay here again!
Thanks for your kind remarks about our place and our city. So glad you enjoyed your stay. Please come back again and share with your friends.
Fifth time staying at the Fest Nest. Not much changes other than the Jazzfest posters. Always great.
Perfect, roomy apartment with character
This is a shotgun style house, quite roomy and comfortable. Very comfortable bed and linens, wonderful front porch, and with local flair for the decor. Lots of framed artwork from the jazz festivals over many years. The owner was delightful towards us. It’s wonderfully located abt 2 miles from downtown....a good walk if you’re up to it. Also a couple blocks from the horse racing track where you can watch those beautiful creatures being exercised and trained. Highly recommended for a nice place to stay for several days
Wonderful place to stay! So convenient to everything!
This is a great place to stay when visiting NOLA! We ubered everywhere! Only a 15-20 ride to the French Quarter.
The Fest Nest is beautifully decorated with a New Orleans vibe. Very clean and welcoming. Comfortable bed, full kitchen, cable TV, Internet. Local grocery store within walking distance. Owner available via telephone for questions or restaurant suggestions. Several great restaurants within walking distance. Off street parking. We loved our visit to the Fest Nest!
Great stay, amazing host!
Kate is a wonderful host. She was helpful when we asked to leave our bags in the unit for longer and she let us know that her nephew and his dog would be staying next store in case we heard any noises. The neighborhood has a good coffee shop and some really amazing restaurants (Brown butter for brunch, lola, parkway bakery for po boys and toupes for dinner). It is a car ride away from French quarter and Frenchman street. Be aware that during popular times NoLa will do high surcharges for uber! Place was very nice, well maintained and enjoyable. Thank you for a great weekend
Cozy & Homey
Very comfortable & welcoming home (cozy does not mean small). Incredibly clean. Kate has provided every comfort; the night lights in the hall & bathroom were a nice touch. We liked the quiet residential neighborhood feel with three good restaurants (Lola's, Cafe Degas, Nonna Mia's) & grocery a few blocks away. Walk about a half mile north to S. Carrollton to catch the Canal Street streetcar to shopping & west side of French Quarter or take the bus on Esplanade to the east side of FQ. Buy a day pass for $3; seniors ride for 40 cents & transfers are free. A lot to see at City Park. Highly recommend Fest Nest.
Historic cemetery, street car and bus transportation, casino and racetrack, City Park includes wonderful new walking trail, Botanical garden, New Orleans Museum of Art, paddle boats, golf and fishing. Neighborhood has great restaurants around the corner from the house.
