Overview

About the property

Historic Home near universities, Audubon Park & Oak Street

In 1995, my wife and I at the time, were looking to buy a formal home for our growing family, but we only had 75,000. My best friend suggested that we use the money to purchase a fix'er upper. With his help, and a little sweat, blood, and tears over the years, our 1909 historic Greek revival home, has made us very proud owners of a sweet New Orleans landmark! There's beautiful rustic hardwood flooring throughout, with each room having cypress trim work. The kitchen and bath rooms are up to date with all new fixtures. Each bedroom is about 20 x 25 feet wide, and dressed with fresh bedding. The entire house is furnished with antique furniture, and the kitchen is up to date with all new appliances and restaurant style cookware, so you can entertain friends. The front yard is landscaped, with each seating throughout each outdoor corridors. Also, for your entire party, we will include free Aquarium tickets. As well as dinner for your entire party at Zeas Restaurant. We're located just one block away from the St. Charles trolley, and about 5 minutes driving distance from the historic French Quarter. So y'all come on down, and experience life like a native New Orleanian!

Free Complimentary Breakfast for your entire party at the Camellia Grill in the Carrollton River Bend on your first morning. With a stay of 3,or more nights.

$200 towards dinner at any restaurant with a 4 night booking!

Is this property too much for your party? We also have a 1 bedroom apartment, fit to suit up to 4 guests! Ask our booking agent for details!

About Victor Sippio

My name is Victor, I'm a native New Orleanian, and I renovate historic homes here for resale.

Victor Sippio purchased this house in 1995

Why Victor Sippio chose Uptown-Carrollton

I purchased this property because it was a diamond in the rough, it showed character, and I knew all it needed was a little bit of love! I'm so happy to share my beautiful home with you!

What makes this house unique

This house is very detailed with historic features that you hardly find here in the city anymore, including doors that open up directly to the top balcony, and big beautiful backyards. Homes like these, are either being destroyed, or being updated so much, that the original beauty of the home, is being removed. We didn't wanna do that here, so alot of the original work is still here in the house!

Victorian Plum is a beautiful, grand old lady of NOLA. So much charm and character.

Wonderful blend of old and new in this house. It was perfect walking distance to nice cafe’s and restaurants. Victor was a wonderful host, providing personalized attention and a willingness to do whatever he could to make sure we could just arrive and relax! He had snacks, water and sodas stocked for us, plenty of extra linens and towels. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. We were 12 family members gathered to remember our beautiful mom/Grandma in the city she called home for 101 years. We were so happy to be able to all stay together. Thank you Victor for providing a warm, wonderful place to share time together.

Amazing Home! So Clean!

  • 5 of 5

We celebrated Thanksgiving at the Victorian Plum with our extended family, 11 people and our dog. Victor was the most gracious host. The house was stocked with everything we needed to cook a full Thanksgiving dinner (including spices). Victor stocked the fridge with beverages and snacks. He even bought a dog bed for our family pet! It was such a kind gesture. The house is so beautiful in person. Every detail is considered. I was amazed at the cleanliness…. So so clean! You can really see the care and love that is put into this home. We had four kids with us and had no concerns about safety. We were able to walk around the neighborhood with ease. Victor keeps bikes in the home as well. We drove into the Quarter one day and it took us less than 15 minutes. I love that this location has easy access to the Quarter, but then you can come back home to a safe location. I highly recommend the Victorian Plum. It was a lovely vacation!

Lovely home to accommodate a large gathering

  • 5 of 5

We recently rented the Victorian Plum for a long weekend gathering of family and friends from across the country. From the initial communications, Victor was prompt and accommodating, even called me to have the appropriate snacks stocked in the refrigerator. He thought of everything! From the lovely fresh flowers throughout to a thorough tour of the home upon check-in. There was no need to remember every little thing, because Victor thought of all the details-- charcoal in case we wanted to use the grill, several brands of clothing detergent (Including fragrance free!) iron/board/starch and a blow dryer in each bathroom. After check-in, we were left in total privacy until check-out. This Victorian home, which is beautifully furnished with both antiques and a modern gourmet kitchen is perfectly situated in a safe walking neighborhood. It is an easy stroll to the iconic Camellia Grill (and Victor treated us with gift certificates) and just around the corner from the Oak Street Area. We really enjoyed the gift certificates to DTB and also discovered the Live Oak Cafe (their shrimp & grits are life changing!) Both are just around the corner. The home is a very short walk to the Tulane campus and Yulman Stadium. We had lovely weather and enjoyed the great patio nightly with family and friends. Comparative pricing in the French Quarter for the same number of people would have cost us twice as much. We had 9 adults for most of the weekend, and could have accommodated more. The home is a short ($10-$15) Uber ride away from Canal St, the French Quarter and Frenchman St. attractions. We also caught the St. Charles streetcar several times for a leisurely ride past the stately mansions of the Garden District. This is the perfect place for a large gathering.

Old world charm and southern hospitality

  • 5 of 5

Victorian Plum is a comfortable older home in the Carrollton neighborhood. It is conveniently located near shops and restaurants and the eclectic Oak Street. It is a short (5 minute) walk to the St. Charles Streetcar or an inexpensive Uber ride to the French Quarter. The house comfortably slept 9 of us (easily sleeps 10). Victor is an amazing host. He is very accessible and was easy to communicate with before and during our visit. He accommodated our every need and even made sure the kitchen was stocked with snacks and drinks of our choice. We really enjoyed being able to have Victorian Plum as our home base in New Orleans. We had a wonderful stay!

Softball Team House

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for my softball team to stay in while we played in New Orleans. It was a safe neighborhood and Victor was amazing. We were able to walk to eat pizza and breakfast. The street parking is a little bit weird because we had multiple cars, but other than that it was clean and comfortable. Victor goes above and beyond to make sure it is just like your own house. There were snacks, water, drinks, etc in the fridge. It is a classic New Orleans house and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a safe neighborhood and plenty of places to sleep. The beds were comfortable!
