Gorgeous home - wonderful family trip - great hosts!!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had the pleasure of staying in this gorgeous 3 level home during mid-march -- we were hoping for snow and we sure got it!! My kids had a blast sledding down the front hill and even though we got more snow than we expected (42" inches!), we had a blast indoors playing board games and watching movies on the satellite tv! We enjoyed the cabin feel with lots of modern amenities. The hosts were extremely helpful and accommodating as we had some unique needs as we stayed at the house during a rare blizzard -- they stayed in touch with us and make sure we were well taken care off! This home is great for a very large family or 2 families with kids -- the kitchen was gorgeous and there is plenty of room to cook, eat and visit! The town is very charming with some great restaurants and unique things to do. I would highly recommend this property, location and hosts for a great family getaway.

Owner's Response: When I heard of the approaching storm I was excited for my guests ( from the Sunshine State) They had 1 wish to have their children experience snow........None of us quite expected the amount that came! The roads, schools, even the hospital was closed except for severe emergencies.......I did stay in touch throughout their stay and kept them up to date of the surrounding areas ( They were 100% snowbound) While I do appreciate the great review What I must say about the area is that neighbors are true friends and extended family....When it was getting close to my guests departure with the amount of snow and road closures....We did not know how on earth we would get the driveway clear to get the family to the airport.....Thank God for family friend Randy! He dug them out with his tractor and when the roads opened the next day ...Our guests were on their way......Memories Large and small were made during This snow storm! We work very hard to accommodate our guests......With the Good Lord on our side we provided more than a few snowflakes ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️

Beautiful, spacious home offers privacy & comfort!

  • 4 of 5

My family enjoyed our stay at this beautiful house over the Christmas holiday. To accommodate extra family members, we had to rent a house for our first Christmas away from one of our houses and we had a wonderful time. There are bedrooms on each floor, offering lots of privacy, the kitchen is well appointed and ideal for family cooking together, and the main floor is spacious and comfortable for our family time together. During our stay, the first floor was overly hot and the first floor shower handle was stuck, but Karine said she is fixing these issues. In any case, we had a wonderful Christmas and the minor problems did not interfere with our enjoyment of the house. Also, for those interested in the hall of fame, the house is a very short drive to Cooperstown.

Owner's Response: While I would love to tell you there are no "mice" This would be inaccurate as we have deer , fox, birds , frogs etc. Our property is in the woods! The mice were just smarter at finding an entrance. The guests arrived on Friday . The phone call came on Wednesday .The situation was taken care of immediately . The "anonymous "person that wrote this was with a baseball team that booked entire property We've been informed the rest of the group had an amazing time! ."the middle lodge was gutted inside and out and another bathroom was added" None of our guests were told and I'm sure were very happy when they arrived. The lower lodge will be renovated this fall however brand new furnitur and appliances were put in lower lodge. We update all three homes every year.. Please if you are squimish about the great outdoors.....This probably isn't the place for you as hard as we try the mice love our property to! ( we just prefer and do our very best to keep them outside) Karine ( Owner)

The Wright Wedding

  • 4 of 5

We chose this rental property to host our small wedding getaway. The landscape is lovely and the interior is tastefully rustic. Though just a few of us stayed overnight, we were able to have about 30 friends and family enjoy a relaxed day in the lodge with a potluck meal.

The two kitchens were clean and well stocked; which was crucial for meal preparation. Though we did not accept the owner's offer to assist with wedding planning or catering opportunities, those were services offered. There are many event planning options nearby because of close proximity to Cooperstown and Oneonta.

We were married by the pond, as it was a perfect setting for an outdoor ceremony. The master bedroom had a romantic atmosphere, the other bedrooms were comfortable, and the two living areas help create a low key wedding setting. There are three hotels located very close to the venue for guests staying overnight if needed. We are very grateful to have started our marriage with our friends and family at such a beautiful and clean facility.

Again, it is a lovely venue for an intimate wedding and Michelle S Rose Photography captured it well! She is local, professional, and does excellent work! This rental's owner and we, The Wrights, recommend this photographer, please search msrosephotography to book with her and receive a deal if you choose to stay here at Marshmallow Acres.

We highly recommend this lodge to enjoy, comfortably stay, host a small gathering with class, and for wonderful memory making!
